Remarks

Good: The place is very fun. The curriculum is really nice and if you put in some effort there's lots of new areas to explore. Lots of different people who have lots of different skills you can learn from or build things together. The place is beautiful too. You will get to learn a lot of new things on your own, just cos of the exposure. Maths classes were great to attend. Great access to cheap and great food. (Once covid restrictions are gone)Bad: Too expensive. You pay nearly 3-4k per semester for exam fee. Hostels have become more expensive as well. 1.3lpa for non AC rooms. A little lower for common bathroom hostels. The faculties are not that great, with few exceptions. SRM doesn't treat its faculty well either, most of them plan to quit. You will experience lot of mismanagement from college when it comes to exams. There's times when nothing has been taught in class but the most difficult exam paper. Some teachers make you do side projects that are totally irrelevant and something a 5th grader could do but you need to buy the hardware. Totally useless. Mostly it'll feel less like an educational institution and more like a business, attractive and all but the agenda is minting money. Hostel wardens are very rude and very sexist and sometimes verbally abusive. Hostel was great place to be in but you will want to leave simply because of how inconvenient they make it. Too many assignments and tests, no time to actually learn. Admission process in my time was to collect your documents, admit card, id proof etc and then attend counselling. Select your branch of choice, some paperwork (they guide you through it), pay the fee in DD (it could be online payment now) get your SRM ID and you're good to go. There's a 5-day orientation process where they just tell you about the college and course. It could be a great college if they'd just paid more attention to the education process along with the fun stuff.

Course Curriculum Overview

1.5

I chose this course because it had a great curriculum (available on their website) and it was new and included lot of the things i wanted to learn. Faculty student ratio for this department was pretty good cos we were the first batch for this course and we were just 22 kids. Faculty are mostly Masters and some of them are PhDs. However, the teaching quality is really below par. None of the interesting topics from the curriculum were taught. We just got random questions in the paper at times. Subjects not specific to the department like maths thermo etc were still fine. High management in this dept.probably cos it was new and all. But we never the choice to select our elective courses or learn the language of our choice. Teaching is not good. Most teachers could care less what you learn. They themselves are annoyed with the college i guess. There's a cycle test every month for all subjects. There's grades for assignments and surprise tests. After the first two months of a semesters, you'll basically be giving an exam every other day. Labs have a model exam and then the university exam. Just as theory subjects also have University exam for external grade. The exams are quite easy if you just put a few hours into it. Ofc there's exceptions like Fluid power control but nothing too hard there either. Just few hours of dedicated prepping is enough.

Internships Opportunities

4

I did internship back home. But College also conducts internship fair though mostly they have cse or IT companies. For major project we were given a pdf list of topics and faculty. We had to decide from that and make a conference paper on itm 3 reviews report and a final viva

Placement Experience

2

Students can apply for internship from 3rd year 5th semester. From 7th sem you sit for employment placements. Mostly there are CSE companies with highest packages upto 33 lpa by MiQ. Overall placements are good. Around 50-70% get placed but not necessarily in core. I got placed in Faurecia where i plan to grow my career

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees are hiked for admission every year almost. Hostel fee also keeps increasing by 10-15kThere are lots of scholarship options for state toppers and board toppers etc. After joining, you can get academic scholarship for good performance. I am not aware of the financial assistance scene but I'm sure its there on the website. I got placed in Faurecia Bengaluru stipend 15k. In my year, pandemic year, Automobile had Varroc, Faurecia, Ford, Fiat and few others. To register for placements you need to pay 6000 which is not refunded if you don't get placed though lol. Most students get into mass recruitment. In our time some Automotive core companies came to hire only CSE guys. So yeah overall the placement scene is not very good. Some 6-7 students got in core. Rest mass recruitment or nothing at all.

Campus Life

4

Milan and Aaruush annual fests. Really fun if you're involved. Seniors try to extract money in the name of certifications etc, so please please don't ever sign up for anything that asks you to pay money. Library is large and you can find course books and other books as well. Lots of sports teams and the playing area can be used by anyone. There's a Club for almost everything, dance, music, fashion, literature, movies and drama, tech, robotics, drones, Automobiles, UAVs etc.

Placement Experience:

For campus placements students of the 4th year or 7th semester are the eligible ones. Multiple companies like zoho, apple,TCS,CTS, accenture etc have come and multiple small companies too. But the intake for the big and reknown MNCs were low from abt 2-3 candidates only.the placement here is 100% but the companies may vary.My future goal is to go for a government official stream after I finish my masters abroad.

From 3rd year itself a student become eligible for campus placements and some of seniors got ino flipkart like companies. So the college is good at placement. In any colleges, due to college the student can't only be placed, their skills, talents, communication is more important to get placed so based their knowledge the students get placed. only thing college need to do is getting good companies with package and our college also provide it.

Course Curriculum Overview:

me being a law student expected a lot of practical and theoretical examples to be presented in front of the students when I first joined in, but the reality was far less than what I expected. The professor is mostly came in read. Whatever the book said and left, gave us few assignments and group projects to be completed without any particular information from their side. We had to sit and do research on our own without any input, and then we'll go summit down the assignments or projects or whatever task was appointed to us, and then we'll have a viva through our work and that's pretty much it . The new professors who joined in by our third year, were very practical, made us understand a lot of things which the previous professor didn't. They answered a questions. They were more relevant to us because they could understand that some topics were forced on us and supposed to be taught, maybe twice or thrice just to make us more comfortable or just to make us more smarter in that area by understanding it in depth . law is one of the most interesting and difficult courses out there, but then if you have the right professor is leading you to it, you would learn easily and more efficiently. in my area of study, practical work was not very much included other than participating in mood court. It was all theory based which is not very important in a way because when you finish your course and get into the real world when you go to your corporate world or litigation side, you need practical experience and you need to understand how to do work and not just learn the sections or the theory part so something that they could have improved was rather than giving us assignments or group projects they could have made us understand and giving us real life situations or give given us more practical practice so that it would be easy for us to understand what litigation is and how we are supposed to do it.

I took MCA to get placed into IT companies . The subjects in the MCA is very interesting but the students who studied UG course and then the pg course also in the same college then it is totally waste because they are studying the same subject again. Very bad thing is that in this college they are providing the same subjects and same syllabus for UG and PG students there is nothing different. But i have studies ug in other clg so for me it is different so i managed and it is interesting
