In my course we are learning a lot of theory papers like cultural studies , gender and queer studies , subartern studies , critical approches to theories and so on. Even in the thrid sem i had a project of translation under one of the best facutly in our department. This strengthens my resume. These syllabus are really helpful to participate clear competetive exams like ugc net . We had a lot of questions from our syllabus in the previous exam. To tell about the exam , timing is 3 hour for every paper. We dont have any practicals or labs. Paper inclues 2 marks , 5 marks and 15 marks.

The course curriculum in first semester was quite good, but in third semester it's irrelevant, and the syllabus is quite huge, and hard to finish on time, which gives extra load to students, hence they get pressurised

The students become eligible for campus placements after their second semester. That is when recruiter officers approach students for their interest and interviews. Amazon is one of the main recruiters. The average package is 5lpa starting. 40% get placed. My plans are to pursue a PhD after my master's.

MA English and Comparative literature is a very good course which can provide you insights on the functioning and norms of society from every corner of the world. Apart from the hard core subjects there are soft core courses provided by the course including popular fiction. Canadian poetry, translation, literature from north east india and many more

It is very relevant and prepares us for real world applications and further academic pursuits. The course deals with literary theory, criticism, literary history, linguistics as well as American literature and Indian writing in English.

For us English students, campus placements start in the final semester. But for the other courses, it starts from second semester itself. About 70% of students get placed from the university with good packages.

The curriculum is really hard and the universitys system is entirely different from other state Universities it really helps to cope up with the real world the exams are cunducted regularly within finite intervals and it's really difficult for an average student like me

The curriculum is easy to study and manage. Each semester has 5 papers and all necessary areas are covered in this. The course isn't that difficult while comparing to science courses. The teachers and their methods are good

I was always interested in comparative literature. But taking up masters on that sole subject felt intimidating. And that was when I found out that Pondicherry University offers a course M. A English and Comparative Literature. This sounded perfect for me. It gave me a chance to explore the concept of Comparative Literature, with the comfort of English Literature. The department of English has highly experienced and qualified faculty. As mentioned previously the department takes around 100 students every year, and this might point to the fact that the faculty: student ratio is very low. But the department never compromises on the quality of education. The teaching methods are very student-friendly, and the teachers even provide notes and extra materials on occasion. The exams are conducted very often, however with no fixed schedules. It is upto the teacher to decide on the dates. However, this helps the students to stay in tune with the syllabus.

It was a central university and was in Pondicherry. It was my dream to study there because of its welcoming mentality also such a large campus with a number of courses and thousands of students from all over India and foreign also. Well known faculties in the academic circle was an added advantage.
