Pondicherry University has extended the last date to apply for Doctorate (PhD) admission 2026-27 under the entrance examination category. Eligible candidates can now submit the online application form till January 30, 2026.

Along with the deadline extension, the University has also released the PhD fee structure for the 2026 academic session. Admissions will be conducted across multiple disciplines offered by various Schools, Departments, and Centres of the University, following the norms prescribed in the official information brochure.

What is the Eligibility for Pondicherry University PhD Admission 2026?

Candidates applying for PhD programmes must have studied under the 10+2+3+2 or 10+2+5 education pattern. Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in the relevant or allied subject with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade. Final-year postgraduate students are also eligible to apply, provided they meet eligibility conditions at the time of admission.

Selection for PhD admission will be based on performance in the entrance examination, followed by an interview conducted by the concerned Department or Centre. Final merit will consider marks obtained in both stages, as per University regulations.

The Pondicherry University has officially released the PhD academic fee for the 2026 session, which ranges between ₹46,301 and ₹83,301, depending on the programme and category. Candidates are advised to refer to the official brochure for a detailed fee breakup.

Application Fee for PhD Programmes

Candidates must submit separate applications for each programme. The application fee per course is as follows:

• General/Others: ₹1,500
• SC / ST / Persons with Disabilities / Transgender: Nil

The application fee must be paid only through online mode. Incorrect details related to category, course code, or centre code will not be corrected later.

After the application window closes, the University will announce the entrance exam schedule, followed by department-wise interviews. Shortlisted candidates will then proceed to the admission and document verification process, as notified by the University.
