Pondicherry University M.Sc Biotechnology: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

The department emphasizes summer internships beginning in the second semester, offering both paid and unpaid opportunities. Prestigious institutes like IIT Madras and IISER Pune provide stipends for these internships. Unlike other departments that allow external final projects, this department mandates projects to be completed within the university, focusing on identifying tumor markers using diagnostic tools like Immunohistochemistry (IHC). For M.Sc. Biotechnology students admitted via the GAT-B exam, a monthly stipend of Rs. 5,000 is provided by the DBT, Government of India, throughout the two-year program.

The tuition fees are structured as Rs. 25,000 for Semester 1, Rs. 5,000 for Semester 2, Rs. 20,000 for Semester 3, and Rs. 5,000 for Semester 4, totaling approximately Rs. 40,000. Hostel fees are Rs. 12,000 for a period of 154 days, with free accommodation available for female candidates. The admission fees, inclusive of tuition, amount to Rs. 26,000, with additional hostel and mess fees around Rs. 10,000. Although on-campus placements are limited, many students opt for research or off-campus opportunities.

Additionally, an extra fellowship from DBT may be available depending on the length of the summer internship.
