Fees and Financial Aid:

Since its one of the top institutes, you get the best financial help, in-terms of availaing loan. The fees is as per the standards of B-Schools. The emloyment opportunities are immense, with almost everyonegetting placed in decent companies

Course fees is 10,32,800 for 1st year and 10,03,000 for 2nd year. The fees was hiked for our batch compared to last batch. They gave a minor concession due to classes being done online but most of us still believe it is unnecessarily expensive.Financial assistance is only offered to students whose family income is below 6 lakhs. I did not get any financial assistance or stipend on campus.

One of the major USPS of IIM Shillong is the diversity of electives it offers. Anyone who hasn’t decided on a domain can have a peek into the various angles of the business sector and then make a healthy decision.

The courses offered are flexible, comprising a blend of Marketing, HR, Operations, Finance, etc. This enables the students not to specialize in a single domain only. As far as HR is concerned, I have listed down some highlights of this particular domain at IIM Shillong.

IIM Shillong offers an impeccable variety of courses ranging from Organizational pathologies to HR tools.
The faculty includes some widely acclaimed personalities in the field. Some renowned members of the permanent faculty include Prof R.Dwivedi and Prof S.Kakoty. These professors just don’t impart HR knowledge rather they ingrain it in us.
The guest lectures are augmented by highly honored professors like Prof M Deshmukh. He gave an overview of the HR domain through activities like designing a dream job. He bought in specialists to teach some important fundamentals.
The HR clubs at IIM Shillong like UsHR keep alive the student-driven factor. The club conducts quizzes and article writing competitions to facilitate self-learning among the students.
You can also opt for CIS. This is a thesis you write about a suggested topic. It enhances your previous knowledge and exposes you to various dimensions of HR.

At the end of the program, you will have developed a detailed knowledge of terms, concepts and insights.

Which course should I choose between IIML ABM, SPJAIN IM and IIM Shillong PGP?

No matter which B School you choose, PGP is always a better choice than ABM. But there might be a specific reason why you got an ABM offer rather than a PGP. But at IIM Lucknow, students of both programs are offered equal opportunities. These include final placements. summer placements and subsequent PPOs.

The major drawback of ABM is that you are deprived of the PGP electives and can cover ABM electives only. These electives cover strategy marketing and operations.

Talking about your offer from SP JAIN for IM, let me tell you that in this regard, IIM Shillong is a much better choice. Its campus in Dubai is a testament to its worth.

Try looking at other available options at hand. Comparing your options is a good way to decide on your B School.
Ask yourself if you are confident enough to drop a year and attempt for CAT again just to try your shot at a better B School.
Check whether the domain specialization of IIM, the companies that visit the campus and the roles they offer are in line with your career interests.

Once you are sure about these things, making a good decision will become easier for you.

Which one is better between IIM Lucknow PGP sustainability Management and IIM Shillong PGP and why?

IIM Lucknow is one of the older IIMs and therefore has a stronger alumni base. IIMs mostly specialize in Core Management and Investment Banking. So before you consider taking Sustainable Management look up at the figures and campus records.

Sustainable Management is only beneficial if at the end of the program you have formed professional colleagues or have come up with a business idea.

Currently, Sustainable Development lacks the demand and credibility enjoyed by other domains. So it’s a risky choice and should be considered only if you are serious about it or don’t have any other options.
