IIM Shillong - No. 7 IIM in India

The admission process for all IIMs is almost the same. It starts by applying for CAT which is the Common Admission Test. In order to be eligible for admission to IIM Shillong, select the program PGPM under College name while applying for CAT. Every IIM has its own shortlist criteria for candidates. The course is designed in a holistic manner covering subjects from various fields giving students an opportunity to get a taste of how different avenues work and take a pick for their specialisation. Even though the classes are conducted online because of the pandemic, the faculty always came prepared to class and tried to match the experience even in the online mode.

The session starts around July and companies for internships start coming for recruitment around November December. This gives the student an ample amount of time to prepare for the interview process. I will be working as an Investment Banking Analyst at one of the renowned financial services banks in India. The duration of my internship is 8 weeks. The average package offered for an internship this year was Rs. 2.13 lakhs.

With a record of a 100% students getting placed every year, the placements at IIM Shillong last year closed with the highest CTC being offered at around Rs. 48 lakhs. The average package offered is around Rs. 27 lakhs. Top brands visit the campus for recruitment purpose such as Amazon, Maruti Suzuki, Landmark Group, etc.

The fees for the program is around Rs.16.5 lakhs and the placement record at IIMs is very good. For the year of 2020, IIM Shillong managed to get the Highest CTC at Rs. 48 lakhs. Big companies like Godrej, ITC, Pidilite, etc participated in the process. The hired professionals were mostly freshers from the college.

The campus is located in one of the best tourist spots of North East. Because of the facilitation of crown in and out of the city, there are many good eateries and cafes available right around the campus.

The hostel has all basic amaenities to make the experience of a student significant and comfortable at the campus. All the buildings have a common room and an indoor game room of their own. Proper hygeine is maintained throughout the hostel facilities with the menu at the mess being changed on a regular basis.

For the purpose of getting into IIM Shillong, previous academics, work experience, CAT scores, and performance in PI are all taken into consideration. One can prepare for the interview by referring to past year questions that can be taken from the strong alumni base of the college. A candidate should also be well versed with current affairs and general knowledge of the happenings around the world. Having good communication and command over language really helps in gaining an edge over other similar candidates.
