I took CAT exam in 2013 and scored 98. 74 percentile. With a decent (not great) profile, I had calls from IIM Shillong and 6 new IIMs. I have always been interested in Finance and according to my research, IIM Shillong was by far the best choice for me in finance.

It is very interactive, classes and sessions are designed as per industry requirements. It is hectic at times but it teaches you how to deal in real life corporate scenario. The biggest aspect of this course is the pedagogy of case study learning, it really helps one grasp the concept from real life scenarios.

Yes, At IIM Shillong we have a placement committee. They coordinate with faculty members and corporate and invite them for summer internship process. I had interned in JP Morgan and I managed to learn as much as anyone could expect. The workload was huge and we had to toil hard but at the same time people were supportive and always encouraged us to learn. General stipend at IIM Shillong can be found in placement report released every year.

Last year IIM Shillong experienced 100% placement at ease. I believe being in north east is a blessing in disguise. We are used to working hard and as much as I know, corporate really like our alumni. I cannot quote any numbers as this year's final placement report is yet to be released but historically IIM Shillong have always had 100% placement. Also brands like Mahindra, Deloitte, JP Morgan, Aditya Birla group and many more have been associated with us.

It is cheap compared to some of the other old IIMs. fee structure can be found on institute website and brochure. It changes every year so it does not make sense to quote a number. The annual fee payable by each participant in the first year (2014-15) of the two year programme is around Rs. 6, 15, 555/-. The fee for the second year (2015-16) of the PGP will be around Rs. 6, 53, 055/-. The fees covers annual tuition fees, deposit for mess charges, software license fees, electricity charges, students welfare charges, health insurance premium charges, security deposits, etc.

You can easily get a loan from any renowned bank. Also there is a merit cum need based scholarship available. SC/ST students can apply for Government of India scholarships (if applicable). Students can also apply for the MCM (Merit-cum-Means) scholarships offered by the Government of India. These MCM scholarships are generally given in the 1st and 2nd year (as per norms and conditions applicable).

We have one of the most diverse batches across IIMs. You will find people from humanities (Psychology, geography), to commerce, medical, law and engineering everywhere. Also the gender diversity is slightly skewed towards male but over the time it normalizes.
