Remarks
Over the years, IIM Shillong has made its place in the older IIMs (BLACKIS). In 12 years, there is a significant increase in the standards, quality of education and Placements. There are 16 clubs and committees which engages us with fun-filled events which fill excitement in our busy schedules. IIM Shillong has a beautiful campus which bounds you with nature and nature relieves one's MBA life stress.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course: 1. Case-based pedagogy 2. Lots of assignments and tests. Faculty is very good. Faculty students ratio is 1:40. Duration of the term is 10-11 weeks. A number of subjects in a term: 7-8. The difficulty of term exams moderate.
Internships Opportunities
Every student has to go through a summer internship program for 2 months (April-May). The college offers on-campus internship opportunities and many renowned companies visit the campus. Summer Placement average stipend 2019-20: 131K.
Placement Experience
Campus placements are excellent 100% placements. Summer Placements 2019-20: 1.31L (2 months). Final Placements: 2018-20: 18.76L. Aspirants can go through placements report of the college for further information.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees are 19L (2 years). Scholarships: Need-based financial assistance to those candidates whose family income is very low. One can get up to 50% tuition fee as scholarship. SC/ST scholarship. Placements scenario: Refer to placements report on the official website.
Campus Life
Life at the campus is great. There are 16 club and committees whose events make your MBA life more cheerful and enjoyable. Major Sports events: BPL (Football league), Ranbhoomi (Flagship event), Kopda Cup (Cricket Cup), Kurukshetra (E-Sports tournament).
Hostel Facilities
2 year MBA is a residential program. There is no option to opt-out from hostels. In 1st year: Double occupancy rooms. 2nd year: Single occupancy rooms. Amenities: Wifi, chair, table, wardrobe, bed, mattress, heater. Mess food is good.
Interview Experience
I sat for the process of 2020 admissions. There were two rounds (offline): 1. Case discussion on a local company wants to enter a new market. Discuss its marketing and pricing strategy. 2. Personal Interview: 2 panellists (1M, 1F). A male panellist asked me about Introduction, why MBA and general awareness questions. A female panellist asked me about my academics (basic level questions). Duration of Interview: 20-22 min.
