12 Nov, 2025 IIM Jammu has revised its MBA selection criteria effective from session 2026–28. The weightage for the CAT score has been reduced from 45% to 42%, while the profile weightage has been increased from 25% to 28%. The PI weightage remains unchanged at 30%. Read more.

IIM Jammu, established in 2016 by the Government of India, is one of the newer IIMs in our country. It is approved by the UGC and is also a member of the AACSB. In 2024 IIM Jammu Ranking, IIRF and NIRF ranked the college at 31 and 42, respectively, for management. IIM Jammu admissions are based on CAT/GMAT/IIMJAT entrance exams. Candidates may follow an online mode of application.

IIM Jammu offers MBA as its flagship course, spanning across a duration of 2 years. Admissions are granted based on CAT Scores (42%), followed by a Personal Interview (30%), and Personal Profile (28%). The selection criteria has been revised from the academic year 2026-27. The weightage for CAT 2025 has been reduced to 42% from 45%. The final merit list is prepared based on the candidate’s CAT scores, personal interview performance, and profile. The sanctioned intake for this course is 300 seats. IIM Jammu fees for MBA is INR 18.86 lakhs in total.

According to IIM Jammu Placements 2024, the highest salary offered was INR 31.75 LPA, while the average salary stood at INR 15.48 LPA. Domain-wise, 48% jobs were offered from the Marketing domain. With regard to sectors, IT & Analytics recorded 32% offers. 23 PPOs were offered during the placement drive. 154 recruiters participated in the drive, out of which 56 were new recruiters. Top recruiters here included BNY Mellon, Aditya Birla Group, Thomson Reuters, Unacademy, Cognizant, Wipro, Mahindra, and Swiggy, to name a few.

IIM Jammu admissions are done through CAT/ GMAT. Candidates who hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline are eligible to apply for the MBA and MBA (HA&HM) programs.

IIM Jammu Campus Facilities

IIM Jammu permanent campus has been inaugurated but it still operates from the old university campus. The campus is well equipped with academic buildings, classrooms, a library, LAB, faculty blocks, a hostel, and a sports area. At present, the campus has 3 classrooms with a capacity of 100 students and wifi connectivity.

A regular day at IIM Jammu starts at 8 am, with students rushing to have breakfast in the mess. Then the classes start at 8.30 and continue till 4 pm every day. The students are also served regular refreshments and lunch breaks at short intervals.

Ques. Does IIM Jammu have a permanent campus?

Ans. IIM Jammu is constructing its permanent campus on 200 acres of land in Jagti situated 18 km away from Jammu Airport. The permanent campus will offer technologically advanced classrooms, hostels, faculty residences, and state-of-the-art infrastructure.

Ques. What is the International Exchange Program at IIM Jammu? Is it mandatory?

Ans. The international exchange program at IIM Jammu provides global exposure to the student to study in international partner institutions subject to the course norms. Placement scenario of the college, highest and average package being offered

since the starting of the Second year at IIM Jammu. The students are eligible for the campus placement. But the companies has different criteria for the eligibility, sometime it may be cutoff based on the campus current CGPA or the major subject selected in the 2nd year by the students. The current avergae package is 1250000 with highest being the 2250000. IIM jammu has the 100% placement records. After getting the degree i want to get into a MNC with the continus growth of my and my firm

Lot of Companies are apporached for the Intership providing the different roles in the different sector. This help the students to get the exposure of the industries they are intrested in. Moreover the internship period is over 2 months.

College event, various clubs and facilities present in the campus

Going thru the campus life at IIM jammu. Its a fast moving cirriculam as the semester are only 3 month in which two exams are conducted along with the project submission of each subject. So student has to prepare for the subject in advance. Other than that there are lot of comittiees out there which help the students to help brush up there management skills. There is also an annual fest held in the college named "Empyriam". The college classroom is equiped with latest technological equipments to enhance the teaching experience. Other than the comittiee there are also a lot of clubs which also help the students brush up there skill along with the domain in which they are intrusted in.

Total fees and various aspects covered in the fees

The total College fees of IIM Jammu is 1715000 which includes the hostel fee. The mess fee is not included in the college fees and has to be paid on the monthly basis to the mess vendor. The mess fees is around 7500 per month other than that there is no addition fee except the personal expense of the student. I have limited knowledge about the scholarship provided by the IIM Jammu as they havent shared any knowledge about it.

Students view on course structure and examination pattern being followed in the campus

The main reason for going for MBA at the IIM Jammu was their use of case study method, Where real-life business situations are analyzed and discussed in the classroom. This apporach helps students develop problem solving-skills, analytical thinking, and decision-making abilities by applying theoritical concepts to pratical scenario. The area for improvement in my suggestion is incorporating sustainability and CSR principles across the cirriculam can help students understand the importance of ethical business practices, enviormental stewardship and social impact, alinging with the growing emphasis on sustainable business model. In IIM Jammu there are 2 exams conducted in one semester helding in mid semester and final semester exams. 2 papers are conducted in the single day with each paper being 3 hours long. Which can be tiring sometimes as student have to sit for total 6 hours for both the paper.

In IIM Jammu, the students are provided with single occupancy room in which they provide the bed, Side table, Main table, all weather AC, Fan, Light, Cupboard, Lights, Charging port etc. There are 4 hostels right now with 6 floors each. Each hostel in provided with two lifts, 6 Wifi router on each floor, Common washroom on each Floor, Washing machine and dryer in every alternate floor(Which usually dont worry). The mess meals are not that good as compared to the monthly fees they are charging which is 7500. Moroever, there are some incidents in which snails are found in the food. Other than that the IIM Jammu students are not allowed to locally rent outside the campus and statying at the campus hostel and mess bill is mandatory.

What is the admission process of the college?

All the student who have completed there under graduation and wanted to pursue there career in the management field can apply for the Common admission test (CAT), which is a competitive exam for admission into prestigious management institutes like the IIM's and other top B-school. The CAT application forms open around the september on the CAT official Website and the exam is usually held in november and its a computer based test.I took the Common Admission Test for the MBA Course thru which i score 91.15 percentile under the EWS category. The cutoff for the IIM Jammu under the EWS category was 90 percentile. After that result the interview was held and the composite score of exam and interview score was released by the college along with the college offer letter and waiting list. In my personal opinion, all the process was good except the college offer acceptance and fees payment process in which they provide you little time to think and pay the acceptance fees.

There are several clubs and committees that have their own functions and helps the students to upskill in terms of communication, team work, leadership, creativity, adaptibility etc.
Opportunities to interact with other colleges and industry experts through competitions or webinars etc.

Sometimes it become too hectic that we cannot find time for our personal other works.

Admission:

There were several other colleges that I had applied for : IIM INDORE, IIM ROHTAK, IIM RANCHI, IIM BODHGAYA, SCMS PUNE, SCMS NOIDA. I got confirm admission from IIM ROHTAK, SCMS NOIDA, IIM BODHGAYA while in SCMS PUNE, I was in waiting list. For IIM Indore as well as IIM RANCHI , i was left behind in sectional cut-off in english . In IIM ROHTAK, I was offered Integrated Programme in Law but I wanted to go in management field hence I refused the offer. Finally i chose IIM JAMMU over IIM BODHGAYA because of it's better NIRF ranking and better placement opportunities. ADMISSION PROCESS OF IIM JAMMU Fisrtly we have to clear JIPMAT (joint integrated programme in management entrance test). Then there will be other components such as cut offs, 10th and 12th scores, gender diversity and JIPMAT score. The ratio for each varies each year . In 2023, when I was cleared the exam , there were only two components, JIPMAT score cutoff and Gender Diversity. The cut-off was as per 2023 are: General male - 350 General female - 328

The admission process is simple. One has to appear for the annual JIPMAT exam and use the scores to apply to IIM Jammu or IIM Bodhgaya. The institute then releases a merit list that gives a list of meritorious students who can get admission. It also releases subsequent waitlists. Admission can be secured by depositing the admission fee. Reservation benefits are in accordance with the government policy. Moreover, girls get 5 % weightage.

The admission procedure was easy although the exam was quite competitive. With out of 6000 students 60 getting placed in IIM jammu The cut off was 95 percentile above for general. The application is easily available on Google everything on the website you can get. The exam is conducted once a year i.e.JIPMAT in particularly May. The difficulty level is moderate like if u put in 3 months of efforts and mock test as well u will clear the exam.

The admission process was easy. The exam I took was JIPMAT. Post results merit list was declared and it moves based on the acceptance by students. Girls get 5 extra points for maintaining the ratio and from now onwards 10th, 12th will have much less weightage. Until now there haven't been any PI \GD rounds however in the coming future with growing demand this round seems necessary.

I like the infrastructure of college. Also I like the natural natural beauty which surrounds the campus.

Still the college is in development, so there are teething issues. A lot of construction is going on so there is lot of dust in the college.

Admission:

First of all we had to give the CAT exam in order to get admission in IIM Jammu. Afterwards on the basis of CAT percentile, we got a shortlist as to who is eligible for the CAP interview process. The CAP includes 9 IIMs for selection. The CAP process was online interview. My interview went for around 8-10 mins. The questions in the interview were regarding my educational background, current affairs and one situational based question was asked. After all this process a mail came from IIM Jammu that I have been selected for the IIM Jammu course in which further details were mentioned. In the subsequent mails, we were given the details regarding which forms and documents need to be submitted and the mode. I had availed reservation benefits in the SC category. The minimum cut off was less for SC category. It was 35 percentile for each section. In IIM Jammu there are 6 semesters in total. In each semester there is mid term as well as end term exams.

You should choose IIM Bodhgaya between these two. Since IIM Calcutta is the mentor institute, you will be taught by the faculties of IIM C. The placements of IIM Bodhgaya are also managed by IIM Calcutta, so you can expect good placement offers. The batch of 2022 students received an average CTC of INR 12.36 LPA.

Yes, IIM Jammu is safe for students. There are various reasons for making IIM Jammu a safe campus for learning:

Location: IIM Jammu is located on Canal Road Nawabad, Cantonment, Jammu, Jammu, and Kashmir. It is just 4.8 km away from Jammu Tawi railway station. Being located in the heart of Jammu city there is no fear, no threat, no militancy, no strikes, and no tension of bomb blast. You can get good coaching, a good atmosphere, and good and pleasant weather.

Secured campus: The security staff continuously monitor through the surveillance system. They responsibly supervise patrolling around the campus to prevent and detect signs of intrusions and ensure the security of doors, windows, and gates.

Secured accommodation for students: The hostels at IIM Jammu are fully secured blocks with armed guards and no one is allowed to enter without proper verification.

So it can be concluded that IIM Jammu is a safe campus. The institution has implemented several measures to ensure the safety and security of its students, faculty, and staff. Students can focus on their studies and extracurricular activities without worrying about their safety.

How good is IIM Jammu when compared to other non IIM B-schools?

There are plenty of non-IIM business schools. The new IIMs are a better choice than most of them, simply because of the ‘IIM’ tag. ISB, JBIMS, XLRI, FMS, S.P.Jain and MDI are some of the handful of top business schools that are non IIMs. They stand above new IIMs.

As for the baby IIMs like IIM Jammu, consider them only if you can't get into a more renowned business school. These are very newly built IIMs. But by joining them, you can become a part of their progress journey. This is a great learning experience in itself. Plus, the baby IIMs are also mentored by the old and highly reputed IIMs.

If you feel that you have a very rich profile or your CAT scores can improve, sit for CAT again the following year.

What is the London Immersion program of IIM Jammu?

IIM Jammu has stopped its Student Immersion Program. The same has been replaced with its Student Exchange Program. IIM Jammu has ties with 7 foreign colleges from Europe (including Greece), and talks are in place with 2 other colleges.

Under this program, select students from IIM Jammu get a chance to spend a trimester at one of these foreign colleges. For the same duration, some students from that particular college are called to the IIM Jammu campus. IIM Jammu selects its students for the exchange program based on merit.

The exchange program is a great learning experience which offers plenty of exposure to students from both sides.

How do IIM and IIT students from Jammu (J & K) study in a conflict environment? Do their parents allow them to study there?

Unlike the general misconception, Jammu is as safe as any other city in India. Only Kashmir is inflicted by riots and has a conflict environment. My sister had no doubts when she made the decision to pursue MBA from IIM Jammu. In fact, even our parents did not worry about her relentlessly.

As a part, a little concern on their part is justified. But if the riots and conflicts are the reason your parents can rest assured as Jammu is a very safe city.

Moreover, IITs and IIMs are institutes of great national importance. Hence strict regulations are imposed to maintain safety within the campus.

Should I join IIM Jammu or continue working? Work experience is 3.5 years.

The ideal number of years of work experience for an Indian business school's standard 2-year MBA program is between 2-3. However, in the United States, the ideal work experience for the MBA program is 5 years or more. Also, in India, if you can get into top schools, your higher work experience can be compensated. With this work experience, IIM Jammu will never be a good fit.

If you drop this year and try again next year, your work experience will be around 5 years, and the funnel will need to be even narrower for the 2-year program. Another option is to attend a foreign business school, but this will be expensive.

In light of the fact that an MBA is more of an investment than an academic achievement, you are advised to proceed with caution. Furthermore, the program moves at a breakneck pace. Make a thoughtful decision by taking some time to think things through.

If I switch from IIM Jammu to a better IIM when I convert from the waitlist, will I lose the money I paid to Jammu or will it get adjusted in the other IIM?

I see that you have got accepted into IIM Jammu but still are willing to switch to a better IIM.

Regarding the fees, lessening you will have to refer to the prospectus. I think there is a certain date beyond which there might be a fixed deduction.

But this process of deduction and refund will take place at IIM Jammu itself and does not concern the new IIM you will be joining.

So whichever institute you are joining next, the admission process and fees deposition will begin afresh.

Pursuing MBA in IIM Jammu is dream of many. The IIM Jammu has proved it that why it is worth among other baby IIMs.

It has been ranked at 41^st Position for MBA by NIRF 2023.
It has also been ranked at 32^nd for MBA by IIRF 2023
The cutoff percentile required for MBA (92 percentile) is lesser than other IIMs which makes easier to get admission into it
The average placement package is INR 16 LPA which is very decent.
