JMI ITEP BA + B.Ed FAQs
Ques. Is NCET mandatory for admission to the ITEP BA + B.Ed programme at JMI, or can I apply through JMI's own entrance test?
Ans. Yes, NCET (National Common Entrance Test) conducted by NTA is mandatory for admission to the ITEP BA + B.Ed programme at JMI. JMI does not conduct a separate entrance test for this programme. You must appear in NCET 2026 and then fill the JMI admission form with your NCET registration number.
Ques. What subjects can I choose for the BA component in the ITEP BA + B.Ed programme at JMI?
Ans. The BA component follows JMI's BA curriculum as per the credit requirements prescribed by NCTE. The programme is designed for the secondary stage (Classes 6-12), and subject combinations typically include humanities and social science disciplines. Specific subject combinations are detailed in the NCTE curriculum adopted by JMI's Department of Teacher Training and Non-Formal Education.
Ques. After completing ITEP BA + B.Ed from JMI, am I eligible to apply for government school teaching jobs (TGT/PGT)?
Ans. Yes. The 4-year ITEP BA + B.Ed is recognized by NCTE and is equivalent to a standalone B.Ed degree. Graduates are eligible to appear for CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) and state TETs, and can apply for TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) positions in government and private schools for Classes 6-10. For PGT (Classes 11-12), a postgraduate degree is additionally required.
Ques. What is the reservation policy for the ITEP BA + B.Ed programme at JMI?
Ans. JMI follows a unique reservation policy as a minority institution. Approximately 50% of seats are reserved for Muslim Minority candidates (with sub-categories for Muslim Women, Muslim OBC-NCL, and Muslim ST). The remaining seats are open to all communities. Additionally, 5% reservation is provided for Persons with Disabilities (PwD), 5% for internal Jamia students, and relaxations are available for Kashmiri Migrants, NCC/NSS candidates, and outstanding sports persons.
Ques. Is hostel accommodation guaranteed for ITEP BA + B.Ed students at JMI?
Ans. Hostel accommodation at JMI is not guaranteed and is subject to availability. JMI has separate hostels for boys and girls with a combined capacity of over 4,000 students. Allotment is done on a points/merit basis. Students are advised to apply for hostel accommodation as soon as admission is confirmed. The annual hostel fee is approximately Rs. 15,350 for new allotments (excluding mess charges).
Ques. What is the difference between the ITEP BA + B.Ed and the standalone B.Ed programme at JMI? Which is better?
Ans. The ITEP BA + B.Ed is a 4-year integrated programme for Class 12 pass students, combining arts education with teacher training under NEP 2020. The standalone B.Ed at JMI is a 2-year programme for graduates. As per NCTE's new framework, the ITEP is being positioned as the preferred route for school teaching, and from 2030 onwards, a 4-year integrated B.Ed (ITEP) will be the minimum qualification for school teachers. For students who have just passed Class 12 and wish to become teachers, ITEP is the recommended path as it saves time and is future-proof.
