For 1 subject,we have 4 teachers, each do different topics, I different and convenient manner.I like the teaching Of Dr.P sarina Khabade madam of Biotechnology.I also like the teaching of Sowmya Madam. They understand complex topics into simpler. If I have any doubt in any topic of subject,I approach them, they make understand me about the topic. Semester Exams are moderate, And nearly 3-5 students fail to clear the exam. The course is relevant in our Curriculum.

Course Curriculum Overview

I chose Biotechnology Because I have bit knowledge of Biotechnology in 12th.They also prepare us for entrance Exam.I suggest improvement in teaching because some professor teach topic in full speed, Doesn't give a minute break to us to understand about the topic.Semester Theory And Practical exam is scheduled in every 3 month. Before exam they assign Two internal assessment and two assignments.

Fees and Financial Aid

As i have chosen B.Sc. (Microbiology) in REVA University the yearly fees for it is around 85,000 rupees during the admission i had paid 500 rupees as registration fee. We get two installment payment system where the student is supposed to pay half price of the fees that is 42,500 rupees and later once the classes starts the student has time of 30 days to pay the next half fees if failed to do so the student fees is added by extra penalties that is 300 rupees per day for first 10 days later it gets increased to 500 rupees per day. Their is common entrance exam known as REVA CET in which if we qualify we would get an discount of around 10,000 rupees. Once u have claimed the discount in the first year than for the next two years you can again claim the discount if you get CGPA above 9 and maintain the attendance above 85%. As you complete 1 year in this University you are supposed to pay 350 rupees as common lab breakage fees ( even if you have not damaged anything in lab etc.). Every year you are supposed to pay 3000 rupees as exam application fees, so for 3 years it adds around 9000 rupees to your fees. So the final fees for three years of B.Sc. course is around 2,65,000 rupees. Thanking You

Faculty

In whole of the campus there are around 1000 to 1100 faculties incuding both teaching and non teaching staff. The teachers out there are very productive, skilled, interactive etc. There are many faculties whom i like and there are many who i dont like, i think it would be better if it is kept confidential. Now coming on tp the exam structure, we have semester system for each semester we have 3 exams IA-1, IA-2 and SEE ( Semester end exam). We have 6 subjects in which 3 are hard core, 2 are soft core and one is launguage. The hard core subjects and launguage are three credits subjects where as the soft core is 1 credit subject. The hard core subjects are for 100 marks (where the SEE exam paper is for 100 marks which is later scaled down to 60 marks and for the rest 40 marks the student should write both IA 1 and 2 where in IA the papers are for 30 marks which is scaled down to 10 marks and the rest 20 marks are from the assignment and presentation that the student is supposed to give in his semester). So the total marks are 60+20+20=100.

All our teachers are approachable. No one in our department is scared to ask doubts. Teachers in our department are highly educated and cooperative. I like all my faculties. I have enjoyed the classes of all my professors. We generally have continuous assesments for elective subjects. We don't have to sit for end sem for these subjects. Like we have projects, viva quiz presentation and attendance. But for the main subject we have to sit for the end sem exam obviously. Our teachers take at least two class test for these subjects. And then we have mid sems of 20 marks and at the end the semester exams. We also have practical exam. Viva exam is taken by the external.and the writing part is usually of 30 marks. And for the rest we have to conduct the experiment maybe not the full but as said

Course Curriculum Overview

I think I'm a curious student. Integrating biology with technology is interesting Recently we are studying animal tissue culture plant tissue culture which is superb. Generating a plan from a single cell is truly something interesting. I was drawn to genetics and biotechnology application . This curriculum prepares a student for research and industrial purpose . We get to do lab experiments project work under professors. In my opinion improvement can be done by industrial visits Exams take place at the end of each semester and we have mid sems in between

Faculty to Student ratio is good because they pay extraa attention to the students and whenever we have any doubts they help us in solving all our doubts . The favourite faculty I would like is Aniket sir . He is one of the brilliant teacher of my college, he always supported me and help me whatever I had ask from him . He is also having a good personality and all. He helps me in practical lab theory and teach us biophysics one of the difficult subjects in my branch . I don't like one of the teacher whose name is Gaurav sir because he bores me as in his class I sleep because I don't understand what he is teaching. Exams are taken by the college at the end of the year . They take a single exam in a whole per year . No mid term and semester exam is taken place . Exams are easy but one night before study makes it difficult . All students scored well . Noone gets failed , all are able to clear the exam . Course curriculum is good as per of my knowledge .

Campus Life

We have our Fest and Annual Day Celebrations once in a year in the month of december . Most of the students gets participated in this fest and shows some cultural program. We have a big and wonderful library in our college where most of the students spend thier time. All the books related to our curriculum and journals related to daily articles and news are there. Library are accessible to all. We just have to go inside the library by showing our I'd card to the guard. Classrooms are loaded with technological devices like wi-fi, projector and others. We have our Field called R.N. FIELD in which all are allowed to come and play. That field are accessible to all. In our college Seniors run the Clubs by their own in which they join us to participate in the sports curricular activities , singing , and dancing etc.

The faculties are really approachable and we can go to there cabins post college ours for any of the doubts and they are very open about it.Our microbiology teacher Dr Mridul Umesh is a very qualified professor . He is very friendly and explains things really good.Dr Manikantan is one of the faculties which i dont like because of this stammering issue and bad handwriting. We have CIA1 followed by MID SEM EXAMS followed by CIA3 followed by END SEM EXAMS . The exams are pretty standard.

Fees and Financial Aid

At christ univeristy the fees varies for people who's domicile state is karnataka itself and for the ones who dont belong from karnataka .For me the fees was 1.35lacs and i got no scholarships. The people who have karnataka as a domicile state get a scholarship which reduces their annual fee which brings it down to 1.2 lacs. The fee may increase by 5% to 8% every year .Merit scholarships are available which are 10-50% depending upon the marks you have achieved.

Faculty

Faculty to student ratio in my department is fairly balanced, roughly 1 faculty for 15-20 students. Most were approachable and a few even offered mentorship for internships and career planning. Jyoti B R- Her teaching style was very clear and structured and very approachable. Saif Uddin- Extremely knowledgeable and passionate about their subject. Sikandar Mulla - As per me is considered the best faculty due to their subject mastery and helpful nature and giving advice on how to survive in real world. Each semester had 2 internal assessments and semester-end exam with 2 mock practical exam and a semester-end practical exam for lab based subjects. Very few people failed mostly due to low attendance or incomplete assignments. The curriculum was academically sound and well-suited for further studies. However, industry readiness, more emphasis on internship, data analysis tools and emerging areas like genomics and immunotherapy would have been beneficial.

Course Curriculum Overview

I would rate it around 8/10 for relevance and comprehensiveness. I chose this course because it offered solid foundational subjects that aligned with my interests. The curriculum prepares students well for higher studies and provides decent exposure to lab techniques. However, for real world readiness, it could be improved. Teaching methods are mostly theory-heavy and would benefit from interactive approaches. Exams are moderately difficult and conceptual clarity and regular revision helps in scoring well.

As i say before . The faculties are really good. And i must say our physics teacher (Mr. Ajit singh) is a well qualified teacher and also a humvle man . You can ask him anything about your career and education without hesitate. Second thing, chemestry teacher is good but not too much.. i don't know why but i don't like him coz he always give a educational pressure to students. But overall he is doing this for student's better future. And you don't have to worry because there is aldo available a second faculty of chemestry. He is a really good mam. Third thing, Exams are nkt too much hard .. you can easily get better marks in your exams if you reading 4 to 5 hours per day. And also i want to tell you .. there is 20_40% students failed every year . Actually they don't prepare anything for exam.so you don't have to worry .. if you prepare well .. you definitely get better marks. And i again say .. faculties are really good and spportivs ..and you know exceptions are available everywhere. So come in the collage and take a demo .

Campus Life

Yeah i have lots of experience in our collage .. because i am already graduated from this collage before a year. In the collage .. they conducte some activities like sports matches , speech writing, speech speaking and many others. In the collage .. there is two libraries. One for read your books in silence place and second one for read historical and genral knowledgeable books those are available in library. There is a big campus for girls and boys .. they can play game and prepare for games. They also organized many matches in winters. And there is no social groups are run by students. Students go to collage for study and sports activities not for any other thing So overall very good campus and classrooms are clean and peacefull.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees for GGV differs department to department. It may be higher for some departments but less for other. I'm currently pursuing Bachelor's in biotechnology and our fees in the first year was 8000 both 1st and 2nd sem included. Which was paid during admission process altogether. From 2nd year you need to pay semester wise so it is 5000 per semester. And exam registration fees also depends on the category and number of subjects. For me it is 1500.

Course Curriculum Overview

My decision to take this course was not my decision so everything that I know now was after I got my admission. I would say it doesn't prepare you much and unless and until you yourself are not eager to learn and insist on doing things yourself you wouldn't learn anything here. So if you really want to learn you should always try and ask teachers for assistance and always be very active during classes or anything going on the department.

Faculty

The biotechnology department has 5 experienced professors and they are very understanding and we are able to approach them even after our classes and can contact them via whatsapp. All the 5 faculties of mine are best and helpful in one way or another as they have helped with different things just within a year. I like my faculties, I was heavily unsure whether I have taken the right decision by taking admission but after interacting with the faculties, I have no regrets. There are mainly 2 exams per semester one is unit test which consists of 20 marks, for this the faculties may also assign us assignments rather than taking exams and the other one is end-sem exams, it is done like any other final exam and it is usually of 70 marks. In every semester the total marks is 100 marks out of which you get 20 from Unit test 10 from attendance and 70 from end-sem exam. And these exams are usually easy to moderate and anyone who studies regularly will be able to pass with flying colours. The marking system/checking system is same as Assam State board so anyone coming from cbse board might find it a bit difficult to adjust in the initial days as the writing and marking system differs a bit.

Campus Life

Gurucharan college hosts a variety of fests, such as the grand Saraswati Puja in february, where people from over the silchar come to celebrate, or the annual function day. Apart from this all the department hold their own programs from time to time, such as farewell. The departments also host outing for the students majoring in their subjects. We also have a library one can go there to sit and study and can get any book regarding their subject issued under their library card. We have projector in our class, sometimes with the help of which they teach us while showing real time pictures. Gurucharan college also holds an annual sports festival for all the departments.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is very upto date in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness. The faculties often give us some insights into the field of biotechnology through their lectures and also by taking us to the nearby places of practice such as medical colleges and hospitals. Though the course is quite much relevant, the excursions should be quite more frequent as they help the students to grasp the feel of working in the field of biotech. The exams are abit too frequent. Usually the semester should last for about 6 months but our's ends after almost 3 months, this should be fixed.

Faculty

There are about a total of 5 faculty members in our biotechnology department. All of them are very responsive and friendly with the students and help us with the practicals alot. Out of them Dr. Soumitra nath holds alot of likeness from us. He thoroughly exams each and every topic and also imparts us with some outside knowledge regarding the field of biotechnology which is not usually included within the course. Apart from that the exams take place quite frequently and are of moderate difficulty. Most of the students usually pass the exams.

Ques. I scored less then 50% in 12th boards can I get into private bsc biotechnology college

● Top Answer By Sanjana Kapoor on 14 Dec 23

Ans. The minimum eligibility requirement for BSc. Biotech at an Indian college is having passed 10th and 12th with Physics, Biology/Maths and Chemistry as core subjects, and at least 50% overall (45% for SC, ST) and 60% in each of the core subjects in the 12th boards. Both PCM and PCB candidates can opt for BSc. Biotech. Given that the eligibility criteria demands at least 50% in the 12th boards, it might not be possible for you to seek admission into BSc. Biotechnology at an Indian college. But I would advise you to go through the eligibility criteria of some of the private colleges by visiting their official website. Read more
