Fee for bachelors is not worth as it is increased from 60k per year to 1lakh 30k the last year. Coming to the scholarship if the student score high in the entrance exam which is GAT there is fee Concession for only one semester .

Placement Experience:

There are very much less companies visiting our college which also selects only one student from particular course. The average package was 2lakh per year and also there is a need for us to complete higher studies.

They wont provide us any internship from the college side. Thats only our responsbility to search for online or offline internships. As I opted for bsc , for us there are no projects and I obey for bachelors there will be no such works and so I decided to complete masters which includes internships, projects and career .

Placement Experience:

There is no much companies visit our campus for bsc biotechnology. But there is a need for us to complete MSc which provide more oppurtunities to us and have good career in pharma companies. As only bachelors is not sufficient for ur future so many of the bsc students did not attend any placements.

Campus Life:

The campus is big and beautiful and there is a big canteen five mins away from our building inside the campus. There is a seperate girl's hostel that the college suggests and there are regular bus services. Tiffin services are provided and stationary shops and bookstores are located nearby too. There are multiple committees that students can take part in as per their interest. NSS camps are also organised by the college. Regular sports meet conducted too as well as intercollege competition.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

The fee structure is quite resonable considering the facilities provided both in class room and lab. The only issue is that the principal did not really consider payment of fees in more two installments considering financial conditions and students were greatly bothered during the examinations. The fees though kept changing every year which is unlikely for any institute.

Every year ANNO FEST occurs in the campus which is quite refreshing to the students they will be held usually in the month of December in the evening of Christmas. As I said earlier, library is accessible to everyone and students will be given library cards to keep the books for the given time. Almost every class has the projector to visualise the concepts better, extracurricular activities are also encouraged to an extent including sports.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

Tuition fee varies for different courses for my course BSc Biotechnology it around 44000 per year which is manageable as my house is near to the college I don't know if they provide transport but mostly it is not available. Campus drives also happen but mostly for computer science students for our course there was no placements this year however one can get into lifesciences campus drives which usually pay them mere 15000

If you wanna study hard like a nerd and, has a deep interest in digging up into the world of science, only then I will suggest you to get into it. Research asks for patience.you will face a lot of struggles in this field in India... especially when the field is still growing.

Faculty:

The faculty to student ratio is okay. There are few professors who are there to help you out.but, the thing is they are not very updated regarding the internships or anything. And, they are not able to guide you if it ain't research.

Any big company you can think of visits the collage during placements. and more than 70% students gets placed every year and rest opts for higher studies as the collage has tighups with great foreign universities

Internships Opportunities:

In the duration of 4 year courses, we must do 3 internships. which is quite easy to get with the help of college faculties and their networks the only thing you need is a little effort and communication. There is a project in every semister which at the end provides you with great knowledge and piles up a log of stuff to showcase during placements

When I was in 12th I decided to get an MBBS, but I didn't give neet exam due to some family problems, so I decided to take admission in bsc because I love the teaching field , and there are also various opportunities to set our career in professional jobs, and the syllabus also well known because in bsc we have to study deeply whatever we have studied in 11th &12th so , it is easy to understand. So take admission in this course, and one more additional benefit of this course if I'm interested I can also start upsc or mpsc Study, along with a degree I can able to balance both, it was a really great opportunity to do all in one. So I'm studying BSc, I got a good percentile and i want to specialisation in chemistry, because in my college the chemistry teaching staff is very very outstanding, and I also love to study chemistry as compared to all other subjects.

The teachers all have various achivements on this branch one teacher even has doctrate on biotechnology. They also have 10plus years on teaching on this subject. They have high knowledge and experience on this subject. We have several chances on interaction because we have only 16 students so the teachers can help us personally and we can interact with them personally. They also help in our own independent ideas and advice them on our way to acomplish these ideas. The lab technician also have experience in this field and help us during our time in the lab. The teachers also provide us with various materials in this field of study

They also provide monthly dances on the open stage which are done by different branches. They also have specific days for different branches. They also provide on sports and games but have few resources put into it. We have sports teams which have gone for intercollege and intercollege matches and have also debuted in college level games

Ive had a decent campus life with various arts and cultural programmes. Our college is known for our competitive arts festival which usually occurs anywhere between January to March. Arts is taken very seriously as selected candidates represent our college for the Mahatma Gandhi University Kalolsavan where more than 100 colleges participate. College elections and politics are as usual fiery and exciting. The whole college is in motion when elections are held. Faculty has a difficult task of containing the students. Sports days are not as exciting as hoped for. Students usually take leave during those days. All the cultural programmes are held with full passion and joy. Especially Onam and Holi are 2 of the most awaited programmes

Course Curriculum Overview:

Biotechnology is a booming industry in the world. I had selected this course hoping to achieve a successful career here in India. Little did I know that biotechnology had not picked up its pace yet in India. The exams conducted was frequently with 1 or 2 model exams in each semester for theoretical and practical. This helped us to have enough basic knowledge when we finally pass out. It would be better if more internships and industrial visits are included in the syllabus. It would give a better idea about our future. It will also help us to boost our resume. The jobs in biotechnology offers low salary here but large varities of experience can be gained. This helps us to have a better career outside of India.

Faculty:

The faculty here are highly qualified and hold advanced degrees (specifically Ph.D or equivalent) in their fields. Many have significant experience and academic background that make the faculty at Chandigarh University an important factor in maintaining the reputation of the University. Regular interaction of faculty with students is crucial, therefore teachers at Chandigarh University make sure to interact with the students on regular basis. After giving any lecture, professors ask the students about any doubts or questions they have regarding the topic. They make sure to clear students' doubts so that they learn better. Moreover, the management of Chandigarh University has best strategies to know about students' feedback, therefore after completion of semester they release an e-form and ask the students to rate their experience with respective professors. Moreover, this feedback is anonymous and doesn't reveal students' information. Also, professors engage with the students outside.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum of this course comprises of different subjects from this biotechnology field. In the first semester, the university introduced the basic curriculum that provides basic knowledge of each subject that introduces the students to newest field. Later on, it incorporates advanced information in further semesters. Along with the theoretical subject, each subject has its laboratory class as well. The bad side is EXAMS! The university randomly sets the datesheet as sometimes it gives some holidays for easy subject and gives just 1 or 2 holidays in difficult subjects. Moreover, they took exams in just four days setting 2 exams per day. I found this to be the downside of this University as it affects the grades of students. Also, it has a grade system which is ridiculous. The highest scorer for example having 95% marks gets A+ while 94.8% will get only A. Hence, it affects the grades of students even if they are 1 mark behind the topper. So, I believe that it needs to be changed.

Ques. I scored less then 50% in 12th boards can I get into private bsc biotechnology college

● Top Answer By Sanjana Kapoor on 14 Dec 23

Ans. The minimum eligibility requirement for BSc. Biotech at an Indian college is having passed 10th and 12th with Physics, Biology/Maths and Chemistry as core subjects, and at least 50% overall (45% for SC, ST) and 60% in each of the core subjects in the 12th boards. Both PCM and PCB candidates can opt for BSc. Biotech. Given that the eligibility criteria demands at least 50% in the 12th boards, it might not be possible for you to seek admission into BSc.
