What is the BDS Future Scope?

BDS Future Scope?

Students expect a rise in employment opportunities in the near future. The reason being that there has been a fast increase in the number of dental patients as well as doctors and the government aims at providing better job opportunities to dentists by increasing the employment opportunities.

  • It has been noted that in India there are more dentists than the required number. This issue can be resolved if the availability of dentists in rural and urban areas is made equal.
  • This is because many dentists are practising their skills in the urban areas so if some of them are sent to the rural areas to provide their services there will be an equal availability of dentists in both the regions.
  • This transfer of areas will also result in increased employment opportunities and equal employment distribution in the public or government sector as well.
  • It is expected that the employment rate is going to increase in the coming years.
  • Due to these issues in India, nowadays some students prefer to find employment in Gulf countries due to the huge requirements and an increased salary along with additional perks provided to them compared to what is given in India.

Students who are willing to opt for higher studies can go for the following :

  • Master of Dental Surgery ( MDS)
  • Master of Public Health (MPH)
  • Master in Health Administration
  • MBA in Healthcare Management
  • MBA in Hospitality Management

Instead there are 3 sessional exams in the year •We need to score 50% in each subject to pass •If we fail in 2 sessionals we are required to write one more paper for the qualification for university paper i.e the final exam •However if a student scores 35% in all the 3 sessionals they will be allowed to sit in the final exam •So passing marks is 50% but qualification marks is 35% •Before they used to consider best of 2 out of 3 sessional papers for the internal assessment marks which is included in the final marksheet but now they consider the average of 3 sessionals. •Compulsory attendance of 75% is required regardless of any reasons. A student having attendance less than 75% will not be allowed to write university paper whatsoever. No excuses. •There might be 2-3 faculties which the student may not like because they are too strict.

Campus Life

•There are not much extra curricular activities in this college. •There is no campus life as shown in Karan Johar's movies. •The college is in the dental hospital itself which makes it easier for us to switch between clinical postings and classes •However sports and cultural programme are conducted each year by the union batch of 3rd Years. •A lot of research programmes and seminars are conducted in the college which gives exposure to the students towards the real world. •College is fun. Sometimes it's tiring. Most of the times it's boring. But pre clinical work makes each day interesting and fun. •There are 2 canteens. One non-veg and one completely veg with affordable prices. Students often go with their gang to hangout during the recess. •Masala cheese dosa in the non-veg cafeteria is everyone's favourite right now. •Focusing on the library, it has a nice peaceful library with lots of dental books which the students can refer to. •The KS. Hegde Hospital and our dental college is in the same campus. •The treatment in both the colleges is absolutely free for the students.

Course Curriculum Overview

BDS is a dental surgeon professional degree. After this course you are officially a doctor skilled with specialization in human head and neck region abnormalities. Since i like medical sector....i chose this course and i am satisfied. The real world scenarios are quite different in Dentistry as the curriculum we study is of old fashioned as compared to the advancements in dentistry in today's time. Exams are of mild difficulty, you need 50% marks in each subject to pass the particular year and that to the exam comes once in a year...if you fail you will be allowed to write the re exam after 6 months.

Campus Life

Our college has many fests and programs both in cultural and academic aspects. Annually programs are Arts fests, Sports competition, graduation ceremonies, interdental Atrs and sports meet...etc. Books and journals are pretty much available in the college library but the number of required book is less in number. Activities like sports and arts are really good since it has been 4 years since i am here in the college. All the fests are conducted by Students Union of our college.

Faculty

The faculty to students ratio is pretty valid as there are batches of 100 students and considering the there are plenty of faculties to look after you every year and in every department. The faculty are very approachable and have an open gate policy. The dean of the college is very polite and will listen to all your concerns. Dr Ram ballabh sir and r Neha are some of the best faculties of the college as they are very understanding and good mentors. It is a overall course of duration of 5years in which 4 years are for the academic part and the last year is for internship. Exams are held only ones every year to progress the the next year and are not that hard to qualify. Mostly all the students pass and if not the supplementary exam is conducted 1 month after the main exam and all the students qualify in it.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

Tuition fees for every year is same which is 198000 per annum which has to be paid for all the 4 years of the course , there are no hidden charges except the examination fee which is paid to the university for conducting the examination which is 20000. Other than this no other charges are there , if you opt for hostel the hostel fee will be 75000 and will remail constant for all 4 years. I have availed the category reservation benefit, so I have to pay 1500 per year, as my fees. Normally, the fees for open category is in the range of 3.5 lakhs-4 lakhs per year. For the management quota, the fees are triple the fees of open category, with an additional donation fee at the first year admission. Students have to pay the university exam fees separately. Almost all of the scholarship benefits are available in the college.

Faculty

All the teaching staff is highly educated and experienced. All of them hold either a BDS, an MDS MBBS degree with multiple years of teaching experience. The teachers are really humble and always think in the best interest of the students. There is no biased opinion. Exams are conducted three times a year, with continuous internal assessment and evaluation. The 10 marks of internal assessment are counted from these three exams.

Ques. How do I clear the 1st year BDS exam in just 20 days under RGUHS?

● Top Answer By Tanuj Chandra on 24 Jan 23

Ans. If you have been studying for your college internals all year, you can pass the first-year BDS exam under RGUHS in just 20 days. If not, studying the past 10 years' worth of RGUHS Question papers from a Question bank will be helpful for you right now. Divide your topics in all first-year subjects into the following categories before moving forward: Easy Topics Moderate Topics Problematic Topics Never-read Topics Once you have completed this table, you will be aware of your strengths and weaknesses. Now, look at the exam questions from the previous ten years to gauge your topical preparedness.  To increase your chances of success, create a timetable based on your strengths and weaknesses and try to adhere to 70% of it. Allocate time each day to studying anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry, the three medical subjects. Reserve Sundays for DA and DH only. Maintain a variety of study spots to provide your brain with spatial cues that will help you remember answers to questions during exams.Read more

Ques. How do I get into Sharda University for a BDS? What is the detailed fee structure?

● Top Answer By Gourav Saha on 22 May 21

Ans. Getting into Sharda University is not that difficult. An acquaintance of mine had to go through only an interview a few years back when he applied. Now, one has to appear for NEET. On the basis of that result, you go through the counseling process, and then your admission is finalized. The fee structure is approximately 4.5 lacs per annum and it’s a 4-year course. Studying for NEET requires an extreme amount of effort. Trying for a better college than this would be good for you. A good government institution would help in saving you that money as Sharda University is on the expensive side.Read more

● Top Answer By Nisha Prasad on 17 Jan 22

Ans. As per the Dental Council of India (DCI), this year (2022) the session will start from January to September. The session will be short (9 months), so according to that your exam should be in the month of February or March.  Furthermore if they delay your session it will keep on getting shorter. The second is quite hectic when it comes to preclinical work. So it is suggested that you write a letter or email your university requesting them to start your exam to prevent further delay in your next session.Read more
