I learn a lot of things from the teachers, classmates, and how to deal with the world outside. And how to survive when you are living far away from family, dealing with people that's all I learn. I learn new things not only in education . But overall experience was good.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Because I want to become a clinical psychologist, to treat people with mental disorders and diagnose them. Treat them. Psychology is something new for me, but after doing this subject in my BA , I found my favourite and new interest in this subject

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum and syllabus are pretty thorough and let students think and be creative. In psychology, multiple theories have been discussed well and projects based on them are given to make the understanding better. The lab classes play an important role since we get first-hand experience with how experiments are conducted, and they tend to give a deeper understanding of the topic being studied. I chose this course because I was interested in the subject, and the classes strengthened this decision of mine. The teaching methods can be a bit more interactive and while frequent quizzes and discussions do occur, certain parts of the subject need a more extensive explanation, and usually extra emphasis is not given to important topics. We have one mid-semester exam and one end-semester exam. According to me, these exams are enough to help students prepare. The difficulty level has got to be very subjective. I find some topics harder than others and that influences my grades.

Campus Life:

The campus life has got to be the best part of this university. Events keep taking place and out fests Visages and Prathiba which are both inter and intra-college fests, are a time of excitement. They usually take place around October and February. Apart from these various club fests like the Literary fest keep taking place. The library is well equipped with a wide range of books and to make things better, every student has access to a digital library that provides with more educational content like text books and old question papers. The classrooms are clean and well-ventilated. Sometimes the classes do get overcrowded because the student population is rather high. There are various sports teams and from what I know, they are taken to different sports tournaments and they seem to do pretty well in them. Sports students are also given leniency regarding attendance. There are many student-run clubs such as MUNSOC, Literary Society, Fashion Team, Psychology Team etc.

Campus Life:

The campus is huge. It has 3 canteens at 3 different places. The fests, sports events, etc are held every year and all the students are encouraged to take part. There is Kalamandal which is one of the best in the whole of Pune. People who love dance, singing, acting have an amazing scope of exploring these industries through Kalamandal.

Faculty:

I love all the teachers that have taught me so far. They are all very passionate and they themselves enjoy teaching. This makes the learning process enjoyable and knowledgeable at the same time. They also make use of ppts and projectors which help in understanding the concepts easily.

Campus Life:

It's ok ok As i never took part in the social activities because this city is high on sun rays every single day which is why I skipped the college for many times . But college days were good like traditional, group days I have been a part of it every year . Library is gud but only master's students are allowed to go to the books place And for issuing book you have to do it digitally which is not good at all as it makes confusing for everyone to find the right one without even seeing the books

Faculty:

The teachers are hired because thr are no options available to hire and so the teachers present have qualifications of just a nane and don't know how to teach . No knowledge of basic English and hinfi to the teachers which causes problems for students Only teach in regional language that also not properly Principle don't react to complains and so does the others

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

Tuition fees are 7760 including exam fees and campus fees. They provide their own scholarship called DSW. You can get it if you have no backlogs and have good perfomance in exams. They gives field work for 4 to 6 months in semester 6 and provide interships after you complete bachelor or masters. They give job opportunities and conduct campus interviews. Stipend is on the basis of you performance and skills

Course Curriculum Overview:

Their exams is too difficult because in question papers we'll see the real life scenarios. They ask questions related to real life not just books. Every teachers have different teaching methods particularly department of psychology teaching staff have good teaching skills. I choose this course in MSU because of their study patterns that are too much helpful for me in my future.

Internships Opportunities:

As of now were not given any internship opportunies because we were undergrads and our course doesnt have that type of curriculuk which requires placement. Although there are some organisations and tie ups that my college has done with various institutions where we can volunteer and gain experience.

Campus Life:

My overall campus life is great, the campus is a bit small and but in general Jai Hind is a very inclusive college with lots of cultural activities going on. There are various different clubs one can be a part of. There is some or the other event happening almost every single day.

Campus Life:

The campus life is not that great in the college. The college only focuses on the students rather than any extracurricular activities. VALAY is the annual fest of the college. The fest is mostly held on January. Accessibility of the book is very limited. Classrooms are not that great in terms of technology. Sports events are also held in college level. There are 2 groups one is cultural committee and the other one is student committee.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

There is no increase policy in tution fees. The amount we paid when getting admission is only fees the college charges from the students. 12072 is the college fees including the tution fees and 100 are addictional charges for the college form. The scholarship is only provided for sc and st students.

Faculty:

The teachers in JMC are extremely qualified and supportive. Almost all teachers encourage a personal level involvement. We are also provided with mentors - who are teachers we can contact anytime we face any college relayed or personal problem. The teachers are also extremely approachable and warm. They solve the tiniest of doubts and initiate class level discussioons so that eceryine can voice their opinions. Teachers go beyond the syllabus and suggest extra readings and movies etc to help understanding . There is a shared effort to make assignments and learning process more innivative and imclsuive. The only issue is the students to techers ratio. A class ubder NEP has 80 students. The number is veru big for ine yeacher to handle and provide individual attention to. Hence, sime students get sidelined and often find themselves at a loss because they are not given special attention when needed. It can also be daunting for more introvereted people to ask questions in a class of 80.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Personally, the pers of the course as set by DU are interesting and well encompassing. The curriculum of psychology is vast and varied which is well absorbed by the set papers of the Delhi University. The papers are well differentated as to not lead to repetition of the same material. However, the curriculum of these papers are sometimes very unnecessary and ill-defined.(Eg: positive thinking in psotive psychology was a semi scientific topic with very little research and study material) . The reconfiguration of syllabi under NEP has not been solidified completely and there is a lot of lingering confusion regarding the study material. As far as the real world application is concerned, the curriculum at college is more applicable than CBSE curriculum but only when you actually attend classes and engage in colloborative discussions. The exams are taken twice a year. But there are a billion internals going on at all times and won't leave you a minute spare from tests and assignments.

Course Curriculum Overview:

When I started there was lot of confusion about our syllabus due to NEP, however it was still taught well by faculty. Most of the syllabus is practically applicable in future work. We have 2 CIAs and 2 exams per semester which totals to our grade and they're all pretty hard and helps to learn the syllabus thoroughly. Cia 1 is during the 3rd week after sem starts, Cia 2 is Mid semester examination, Cia 3 is 2 weeks after mid sem and Finally we have end semester exam. Mid sem lasts 1 week, whereas end sem can last up to 2 weeks (lots of holidays) Cia 1 and 3, you're usually given 1-2 weeks time for submission.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

Fee is considered to be high. For BA Psychology English I pay 70000, however that is with 25000 scholarship given to Karnataka students my other classmates pay 95000. There are reservations available, Catholic quota etc. The college has merit scholarship for toppers as well as financial assistance provided with proof of income, etc. We have to do compulsory summer internships during sem breaks (1 month) it's our choice where we work. The college itself provides internships and foreign exchange programs. Placements at Christ are very good.

There are many clubs available at St Mira's, including the drama club, the event organizing club, the newsletter club, the korean and japanese club, The LGBTQ+ club, the NSS club etc. As per campus life, regular functions are held (teachers day, bollywood day, taylor swift day, Harry potter day, kpop celebration, flash mobs) and everyone including the teachers comes together like a big family. We have guest lectures on campus as well. Movie screenings also take place every few weeks. The NSS club is a social service club that volunteers at events and helps out NGOs. You also get extra credits for being a part of the club. There is an annual trip to a village for volunteering. The queer club has regular talks and discussions and movie screenings every week. The Raaga club is a club created by the psychology department, it provides a safe space for anyone to reach out if theyre not doing well mentally, and it recently held a huge conference where lecturers came from all over India.

Faculty:

The teachers are very qualified, ranging from those carrying a PHd in mathematics to Masters in Psychology. They are always open to answer your queries, regardless of whether it is relevant to their subject or not. They are always approachable, and give their personal number readily if you want to contact them. Each major has atleast 2 teachers to teach the students, and the teachers are often different for every year (first year, second year and so on). Moreover, the teachers are also assigned a group of mentees to be mentors for - they ensure consistency in mentor-mentee meets and listen to any complaints and get them rectified.

Ques. Which is better for BA in psychology- Jai Hind or St. Xavier College Mumbai?

● Top Answer By Supriyo Sen on 19 Jan 21

Ans. Among the two institutes mentioned, St.Xavier College, Mumbai is better for a BA in psychology.  The table below will give you a brief overview of the two colleges. Parameters Jai Hind St.Xavier College Fee structure INR 16,200 (for 3 years) Rs 17,625 (for 3 years) Placement rate (2020) - >90% Average salary package (2020) 3 LPA 6.5 LPA Comparison:  Both the institutes provide good learning opportunities, but the difference is St. Xavier is autonomous and hence better. As St. Xaviers is autonomous, it can update the syllabus anytime, if needed. While Jai Hind is affiliated with MU and follows the same syllabus as MU. Which may not be updated.  Xavier’s also conducts its own examinations. So any problem caused in the result published by MU will not affect the students of Xaviers.  Like any other autonomous institute, Xaviers also publishes its results first. So, students get the first preference for a job.  While containing a degree from MU through Jai Hind is quite convenient since university and college will both have a set of mark sheets. From the academic point of view, St. Xaviers College is better than Jai Hind College Mumbai.Read more

The college, though being a new establishment, is growing rapidly academically. The college is very strict and has certain rules and regulations to maintain its discipline. 75-80% attendance is compulsory. The faculty is highly experienced and cooperative. The department organizes guest lectures on a regular basis from eminent people in the field of psychology.  Srijan, the psychology association of Aryabhatta college is a very active society.
