Cmc - a feeling in itself

Likes

Academics are very good along with proper clinical teaching lectures and simulation based teaching. Patient load is good. All the clinicals skills required at mbbs level are taught properly.
There are various extra-curricular activities which take place in college. Many cultural events are organized by college and student bodies every month which gives an holistic development experience
Sports facilities are also there which are very good.

Dislikes

Infrastructure is very old and needs repair
Many faculty members are leaving leading to less good professors in the college
Patient load is decreasing day by day resulting in less clinical exposure

Academic structure and curriculum in the campus

The curriculum followed in our college is CBME based curriculum. Our college was one such college which conrributed tremendously in developing this type of curriculum. It trains you in all clinical skills and provide you with the best doctor skills. Also many soft skills training session our held which helps in developing and training ourselves as good doctor. All the skills are taught on models and patients.clinical training is very good. However , patient load is decreasing which restricts oursleves in seeing variety of patients

What are the internship opportunities in the campus?

There is mandatory internship for one year in our college where the stipend is 15,000 after 4.5 years of studies. Student is revolved in all dept. And clinical exposure is provided. Also peripheral postings are very good where a lot of clinical skills are learnt. There is 2 year bond for christian students after internship wherein students are posted in peripheral hospitals.

Yearly fees structure of the course and scholarship

For 1st year the tution fees is 6,60,000 which increases 10 percent annually. The hostel fees for 1st year is 80,500 including misc. 2nd year ownwards hostel fees is 50,000 and misc. Fees around 25,000. Overall for whole mbbs it would cost 40,00,000 for 5.5 year. There are various scholarship schemes depending upon your family annual income and performance. These are internal schemes which provide you scholarship upto 1,00,000 rupees

Students views about the campus life

Each year systole is organized which is our college annual fest. Also monthly various sports and cultural small events are organized. Systole is organized over 2 months. Library is full of all latest journals and books. The classrooms are very old and technologically it is not advanced. However computer lab is there. All sports facilities including basketball court, lawn tennis court, badminton court, and volleyball court is there along with swimming pool.

What are facilities available in the college hostel?

Ross hostel is there for boys. Ross annex and snow hostel is there for girls. Washrooms are not good and rooms are small. In first year, double room is given and 2nd year ownward, single room provided. Hostel fees is 50,000 which is good. Hostel food is good. There is co,-op mess which provides good food. Registration process is easy

Faculty and learning experience in the campus

The faculty to student relationship in college is very healthy. They are approachable for any opportunities and they are eager to help. We have very old and experienced faculty which are very renowed in their own field. They are very good clinician and renowed worldwide. They are eager to help in research opportunities. They take many exams monthly so as to sharpen our skills and which help in unuversity exam. The academics in our college is very. All faculty is good and very much student friendly

What is the admission process of the campus?

I was getting pims jalandhar , dmc ludhiana and cmc ludhiana. However i went for cmc ludhiana because first though pims jalandhar was 20 lakh cheaper acadamics and patient load is very bad and dmc ludhiana was 30 lakh expensive than our college. I didnt got admission in gmc. For 40 lakhs it is worth for money. Admission happen through neet and it is on merit basis. However there is reservation for sc, obc , and christian students. Cut off very each year depending on ranks

Various facilities available in the campus

There is gym facilities for boys and girls. However, gym lacks machine and equipment. There are many canteens in the college which offers all type of north indian and south indian food. For boys there is no hostel in time but for girls there is in time and that is 9 pm. Ludhiana is full of hangout places.however our college is in old ludhiana cities. Therefore, nearby there is fieldgunj which has large bazaars and also nearby we have very good street food. It is somewhat not safe to hangout near our college campus . however sarabha nagar and south city which is somewhat far from our college, offer good and safe hangout places

There are many research opportunities in the college
There are various extra-curricular activities which take place in college. Many cultural events are organized by college and student bodies every month which gives an holistic development experience
Sports facilities are also there which are very good.

The boys to girls ratio is very good in college of nursing with 15 boys and 45 girls .
The infrastructure of the campus is also really big.

Admission:

I simply applied for 2 or 3 colleges but since this college had their entrance and starting of the session really fast than other colleges I opted for it. Admission process is quite simple as you only have to give and entrance here which is really easy.

I also disliked the classrooms the rooms are not comfortable and not ventilated properly
The chairs of classrooms are broken and not comfortable at all
I disliked the college rules because their rules are like as a school regarding attendance so i disliked this rule

I will not applied in other colleges because fisrt i applied this college and my selection was done at first attempt because my father was already a worker in cmc and this college have a great name as compared to other colleges.i got no rejection from other colleges because i cant applied in any other colleges . The admissions process is like we are giving a entrance exam on the basis of 12th stream if we passed the exam then the councelling can be done then admission

This is the best college for nursing and I didn't look for other colleges is just came here at first for the admission you have to clear an entrance test and if you pass that you are all set to join the course and you should have minimum 75 percent in 12th

I have a few friends in Kasturba Medical College, AIIMS, and JIPMER and all of them told me that they receive their salary exactly on the last day of the month.

However, many other less-reputed hospitals and medical colleges, dont pay their residents and interns or they receive the paycheck extremely late. I believe in order to create a strong healthcare system, we must cater to basic necessities such as paying the healthcare workforce on time.

How is CMC Ludhiana for an MBBS?

CMC Ludhiana is one of the top private medical colleges of the country well known for its excellent education and opportunities in the medical field. Here are a few highlights of the institute

The learning experience is excellent in the first year and every teacher will motivate you for the better. They will cater to your doubts individually and conduct discussions along with regular weekly or monthly tests. By the third year, clinical subjects begin and professors become more busy. The written tests aren’t very regular in the last two years.
Students are exposed to clinics from the second year onwards. They witness a huge patient load and get to see outpatient and inpatient management of patients across various clinical departments.
Here, students have foster families, that help maintain better relationships with faculty and peers. They are extremely approachable and make your college life better.
The infrastructure needs to be worked upon. Some departments of the hospital are well equipped, but the classroom facilities aren’t at par with the best colleges.
The extracurricular culture is average and organizes an annual musical. Additionally, students get the opportunity to present their research at various conferences or go for an academic exchange through student organizations such as AMSA-India.
CMC Ludhiana provides a tremendous opportunity for undergraduates to take part in huge research projects.

Overall, CMC Ludhiana is an excellent medical college with some of the best facilities and opportunities offered to its students.

Honestly, I feel the better hospital for surgery depends on the doctor rather than just the institute. CMC Ludhiana is a charitable organization so lacks top-notch facilities like the availability of medicines within the premises. However, the dedication level of the doctors is high and the expenses are similar to other hospitals like DMC, etc. The best part about CMC Ludhiana is the doctors aren't after monetary gains but rather choose to serve the community. They dont practice medicine privately and only attend to the patients in Hospital OPD.

DMC on the other hand is run by Doctors on sales Target or Commissions. The hospital has excellent facilities and highly experienced doctors. However, sometimes the patients are recommended to undergo surgery even when it is not an emergency just to earn money. Moreover, almost every doctor here pursues private practice.

So, there is a drastic difference in the work environment of both institutes. I feel you should trust the doctor personally rather than the institute because both have good and bad cases. The treatment costs of almost all the private hospitals are similar to the government hospitals like PGI or AIIMS etc.

So choose wisely!

Let's consider the following aspects:

Fees : GMC Patiala is a government college so it charges much lesser fees around INR 1.74 Lakhs (First Year) in contrast to CMC Ludhiana which charges around INR 6.6 Lakhs for the first year.
Academics : The academic environment is more or less the same. CMC Ludhiana has a smaller batch size so the student-to-teacher ratio is pretty good ensuring personal attention to each.
Clinical exposure: CMC Ludhiana because is a multispeciality hospital and has a better patient load and diversity in cases. Sometimes even government colleges refer cases to this hospital.
Hostels : CMC is a private college so its hostel facilities and overall infrastructure are definitely better than GMC Patiala. CMC Ludhiana students get a single room from their first year.

However, the only drawback is that CMC Ludhiana is located amidst the hustle and bustle such that one has to cross the main road to reach the hospital from the hostel.

A close friend of mine studies at CMC Ludhiana and gave me insight into the actual scenario of academics there.

The academic environment may not be the best but it certainly is decent. You will have professors poking you to study hard, guide you, and keep track of your progress.
The institute has a very poor infrastructure that hinders the classroom experience to a certain extent.
The institute has a decent number of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and organizes a musical theatre every year.
CMC Ludhiana fees are extremely high around INR 6.6 for the first year which keeps increasing. It may not seem worth it.
The hostel facilities are also average although better than many government colleges.

Overall, if your only goal is to study and become a good doctor, CMC Ludhiana is a decent choice for sure but if you also want a dynamic college life then I will suggest considering other options.
