Which is better for a B.Tech/B.E. in mechanical engineering: Aligarh Muslim University or Jamia Millia Islamia?
Mechanical engineering is the broadest discipline itself and it is good at both Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and Jamia Milia Islamia (JMI). For the research perspectives in any specialized subjects of mechanical engineering, AMU is quite good and for exposure or entrepreneurship, JMI is the better option having 10th NIRF rank among Indian colleges.

At Jamia Millia Islamia, the Polytechnic Computer Engineering course fee is about INR 35,625 for the full 3-year diploma. Girls’ hostel charges are around INR 12,550–INR 15,350 per year, plus mess charges about INR 2,600 per month. Overall, total cost including hostel and academics remains quite affordable compared to private colleges.
