Here the faculty is very nice they are ready help when students need there help
Here placements is so good and many top companies are approaching to the college students here having good opportunity for the placements average placements is about 13lakhs per annual combining all branches
Many scholarships like fcc, nsp and others are student welfare related and do help the students alot.

Dislikes

Scholarship are there for weak section of society.. my fees is somewhat between 140000 to 150000 years as i didn't receive any scholarship or anything.
The hostel facility is not that great, there is a food problem in terms of taste and water problem in terms of hygiene, there are some issues with the internet also.
The attendance criteria is really strict and the behaviour of the professors are not good

The Dual Facets of NIT Silchar: A critical look

Faculties of NIT Silchar are very experienced and they are very knowledgeable. They guide students in every aspect .
Hostel rooms of college are somehow large not too large but not small like hostels of IIT's. They accommodate 2 peoples in a single room which is good and provides a positive environment for study.
The library of nit is very big and has fabulous infrastructure. Central library has a lots of books of every domain .

Dislikes

The things I dislike the most about college is the food of mess. Mess food is very bad in taste also students found some insects in the food sometimes.
Infrastructure of the college can be made better, but it is not good being an institute of national importance
Labs of the college is not good it contains very old instruments.

Placement Experience:

students are eligible to take part in placement from 3rd year onwards. Companies like Microsoft, Deloitte, Accenture, Amazon, Oracle visited the campus for placements. Total 692 students were placed in year 2023 out of total 837 students. Almost 82% of the students were placed in some company. After completing my degree i am planning to aspire for government job i dont want to work in private companies.

Likes

College place is so beautiful, every day we will see a new and beautiful views of clouds, sunsets, and mountains views
Faculty are too talented and experienced, every faculties are iitian
Infrastructure is bit good but need improvement,

Dislikes

Outside of nit Silchar not good not developed,
If anything wants we should travel 7km for fresh food, items
Transportation is also too slow, and items cost is High

Course Curriculum Overview:

I interested in technology and automation that's why I opt electronic. It should start more lab practices There is a good thing, in lab smart board is available. We should have less time to cover whole syllabus on time because many events held. We are busy in that events.

A college worth looking upto

Likes

Big enough campus good for most needs and can cater all needs of sports and academics
Campus has a very asthetic appeal with 22 lakes and even tea garden, all this to roam around the campus
Placement of college is also very good for branches like CS and ECE and average for rest branches

Dislikes

The girls is to boys ratio is not good in my class of 86 students there are only 22 girls
Faculty teaching is just average and need improvement atleast for 1 year students
Infrastructure of college including building and roads need improvement

Placement Experience:

In my college students become eligible for campus placement after 6 semester. There are my companies including private and government. Companies including google, microsoft,adobe,TCS, mahindra and others Highest package in my branch (electrical)was about 53 lpa last year and average about 8lpa. The percentage placements is about 70 percent. My plan is to first try for campus placement and if not the go for government exams

The campas is good and beautiful . With over 20 lakes .
Teachers are good and helpful ofcourse not all .
Placements statics is good and expected to improve more in future .

Dislikes

Some Professors are very miser in giving marks .
Some teacher want the same method of answering quetion which they thought in class.
Mess food deterorids day by day until MMC team presurrise them to make good food

Placement Experience:

Students get placemnt from the 7th semesters. The placement percentage is good is with arou d 80-85% . And the average pakage is 13.6 lpa 2023 data. The cse average pakeage is 18lpa and ece average package is 14lpa electronics average package is 14lpa and mechanical average pakage is 10lpa The highest mechanical pakge is 22lpa and for cse it is 52 lpa. I am from Mechanical. My plan is to give gate

Some details of NIT SILCHAR

Likes

The hostels are good with good mess facility.
The library of our college is 1st biggest digital library.
The campus is also so nice having so greenery with buity.

Dislikes

The auditorium is old so it not so nice.
The classroom for 1st year and 2nd year is not so good
Our college is not situated in a big city.

Placement Experience:

In the top branches the placement ratio is good but in case of lower branches the placement facility can't reach our expectations. But our college is far better than the other college in case of placement.

Nit Silchar the way to heaven

Likes

Green campus and beautiful environment with clean
Faculty that explains in that a good manner and good understanding.They can also explain even personly
Transport facility from hostel to classes and campus to city

Dislikes

Some discrimination among students about region and category, language etc
Class that contains around 80 members is very overload for faculty and students because it effects the interaction between both
Lack of quality of infrastructure in classes but just small update needed

The course curriculum is good i think that has a plan that is good for teaching and understanding by students and that includes plan for preparation of students for maintenance of good performance and cgpa

Basic informations for 1st year students

Likes

Diverse student community - Since it is a national institute students come from all over India .
placement opportunities are good - NIT Silchar gives good placement opportunities for the graduating students .
Research opportunities - Nit silchar gives good research facilities to the students.

Dislikes

The location of NIT silchar is remote therefore there are some difficulties in transportation.
The weather of nit silchar is quite hot due to high humidity.
Since Nit silchar is an old nit of india that's why it's infrastructure is not that much good as compared to other new nits.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There are 6 branches in nit silchar ,those are CSE ,ECE,EIE,EE,ME and CE . In the 1st year the course curriculum of CSE,ECE and EE is same while EIE,ME and EE have same curriculum . In 1st year students have to study basic introduction programming(C language), chemistry , Evs , physics , Basic electrical engineering , mechanics , maths , engineering drwaing , basic electronics , communicative english , mechanical workshop etc.

The campus is quite spacy, lush and green, boasting an area of approximately 625 acres.
The commodities and facilities offered towards sports are quite satisfactory. The Sports Complex houses various courts for badminton, kabbadi, table tennis, chess etc. Multiple grounds for sports like cricket, basketball, football are also present.
Most of the faculty assigned to the theoretical courses are quite competent and can explain the content well.

Dislikes

Classrooms, at least for the first years, are not air conditioned, which makes it intolerable during Summers.
Laboratory courses are not upto the mark. Teachers assigned are either very good or are utterly the worst and there's no in between. Things were asked in the viva which were not covered in the regular lab classes.
Hostel rooms are not consistently maintained. Some are in refurbished conditions yet most are in a very bad state.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Personally, the BTech course followed all over India is quite outdated. Courses like Mechanical Workshop, where a CSE grad has no conceivable scope, are yet forced upon the students. There's a need to put personal effort in learning all the essential and relevant topics by ourselves using all resources but the ones provided by the college and it's curriculum. While there has been a big improvement in CSE course, where relevant practice sheets are being handed to prepare students industrially, what brings it down is the inclusion of the said unnecessary courses. And this not a college level issue, rather the Government needs to update the policies.

The college provied various types of personality development fields including different types of clubs which are made by the students of the college which boost your confidence
The girls and boys ratio is around 1:5 and it is not very good as girls ratio is very less as compared to boys but the college provied quota benefits to girls
It provides internship opportunities which is very helpful for the students who want to take placement in big mncs as they can attach their experiences in theri cv

Dislikes

The classes our very outdated and old styled which many times become a big concern as the comfortablity is very hampered for us
The mess food of the hostels is very unhygienic and needed to be a big concern because many student may get sick and have health issues eating that
The internet connection is very very low in our college also the lan problem is a big concern as it get disconnected every time and the tower speed is very low their

Placement Experience:

The placement of our college is quite impressive in my field as the avg package for ece branch is 17 lakhs this year which is very good compared to other colleges and also it is a quite impressive for an nit to offer that package

Delightful Discovery

I like the college very much , it has the best environment I've seen anywhere, the faculty is good nd supports in any doubts or criteria. There's a Library which i like the coz it have large collection of books, from where we can learn a lot .
The playground nd the sports club are the best , they support new comers nd cheer them up . There students and seniors are more cooperative and helps alot , about the placement,its average package is good . There are many clubs in college which help
Student to improve skills, development, guide them to right path , vocal skills nd they also do hackathon which let us to experience more and more though we learn more and take a step forward to our goal .

Dislikes

The things i disliked about college is its infrastructure and classes, i think that classes should be more digital which can help students to learn more efficiently and thourly.
The boys ratio is more compared to girls as the generation is more careful about girls which doesn't led them grow and led for their higher studies, ig this mindset should be changed and let others girl who are less educated and want to study, listen
To them and let them forward their step toward it , which can help to maintain ratio coz I've seen un engineering college, the ratio of girls are always less .nd about mess it lit nothing to say furthur .

Placement Experience:

From the semester 6/7 the students are eligible for the placements before that its offers internships . The companies are google, Microsoft, tata and many more other companies visits and no of offers made to te student who's having good cgpa but I've complain like the person having less cgpa why don't they seat in companies interview, its unfair. I've i would be the one among them i would go tobthe skills of the student not comparing on the basis of their academic or cgpa . Although I'm in 2nd sem let's see what happens further.

NIT Silchar is a prestigious engineering college that imparts quality education in various fields. However, the PG courses aren't very well-known and only the UG courses have gained fame over time. It is therefore advisable to check the profiles of the teachers in the respective department.

Additionally, NIT Silchar is located in a remote location and you might find it difficult to procure your equipment for projects. MTech depends on the quality of the research and project you have completed and if you fail to accomplish it your MTech degree is invaluable.

Most companies visiting NIT Silchar prefer BTech students to MTech students. So getting a good job let alone a core job is very difficult here. The institute has no international ties so your future prospects may narrow down further.

Consider all the above factors before making your final decision!
