Course Curriculum Overview

5

I choose electrical engineering because I felt like it is one of the branches that will stay in demand for a long time, and I had interest in physics and mathematics. Since I am in first year I won't be able to through much light on curriculum but from what I have seen it's Preety up to date. I feel like teaching using more practical examples and enhanceing less on bookish learning and more on practical aspects of the topic will especially help engineering students. The frequency of timing of exam is also normal Just like it is for any other private or government collage.

Internships Opportunities

4

There are my internship opportunities with college that you will end up getting especially in third year and yes most of them are paid having stipend from 10,000rs to 15,000rs monthly for upto 6 months.I fourth year you will be assigned a project and have to submit it but the end of semester.

Placement Experience

5

In my college students become eligible for campus placement after 6 semester. There are my companies including private and government. Companies including google, microsoft, adobe,TCS, mahindra and others Highest package in my branch (electrical)was about 53 lpa last year and average about 8lpa. The percentage placements is about 70 percent. My plan is to first try for campus placement and if not the go for government exams

Fees and Financial Aid

Total fee to be paid - 1,10,000 Tuition fees- 20,833 Mess and hostel fee combined - 22,500 Admission fee -1000 Library fee - 500 Medical fee - 1000 And other charges totaling - 11000 If income less than 1 lakh annual Then tuition fee - 0 But have to pay mess and hostel and other charges totaling 11000+22500

Campus Life

5

In NIT Silchar, Our annual fest - Incandesence held around months of Feb Annual technical and managerial fest - Techno ,held in November after diwali for 4 days. We have the asia largest digital library and the overall book count in also very good. We also have a large cricket groud a football. stadium both having seating capacity.and obviously place for all the sports as well.there are many clubs and societies in collage life coding club, robotics club, dance clubs, iluminatis club,NSS,NCC etc.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel facility is pretty decent like for any other government collage in its category and especially good for first year students. You end up getting 2 seater room with a balcony as well. The food of meal is average not the best not the worst you will slowly accept it. Registration process is after coming to college only and is pretty simple and hostel and mess combined cost 22,500 rs for a semester which is pretty affordable. You are required to stay in hostel provided by the collage it's a must.

Admission

I myself applied to a lot of colleges through josaa counselling and all. I recieved my confirmation from colleges like Nit patna - mechanical (round 1) Nit bhopal - mechanical (round 2-4) IIEST shibpur - electrical (round 5) Further more I applied to CSAB rounds for better results. Round 1- nit patna electrical Round 2- nit silchar electrical (final) All this finally lead me to nit silchar. To all the other college I applied I couldn't made it through was simply becos of not having enough rank in JEE mains. Obviously the admission process in collage require you to qualify JEE Mains with a preety decent rank.if you a foreign candidate you can get admission through DASA examination. Cutoff for general category male in CS - 16000 Will give you the idea of cutoff :).

Faculty

5

Faculty to student ratio is about 1:20 Which is very acceptable and good for a engineering collage. Most of the faculty are approprochable and will help you out when in need, obviously there are some exceptions :). My EC subject and mathematics faculty were very approachable and appreciative of my doubts and issues. Faculty I didn't like we're my chemistry faculty because she wasn't of a friendly nature and would treat us like school kids, also she would teach using ppt and all which we felt wasn't the best way of teaching. Examination in nit silchar are above average in terms of difficulty and you do need to study atleast 1 week to perform week of in that case even pass the exams.

Interview Experience

4

I took admission through jossa so I have to give jee mains examination and no other interview of group discussion, only the written test or called jee mains. Preparing for the examination took me 2 years in my 11 and 12 th class with school and coaching is all it took to get to collage.

Night Life

5

The night life in college is very peaceful and roaming in night especially in winter I whole asthetic vibe and all. The gym facilities are amazing,we have cafe and many area to roam around. Famous handout places in my college are near Indi lake, and gymkhana park.

The placements here are actually decent. The average package for my branch was around 13.5 LPA last year and branches like CSE, EC and EI have a higher average package generally. The campus is visited by almost all of the top companies including Google, Adobe, Facebook, etc. The detailed placement records are available on the website of the institute. The percentage of students getting placed ranges anywhere between 70 percent to 92 percent. I plan to get an M.Tech degree after completing my B.Tech course from an IIT if possible.
