Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course curriculum is very old. The subjects which we study not help in future. Why any computer science student studies engineering drawing and graphics subject. In my opinion those subjects will teaches us that help us not only for records.

Internships Opportunities

4

NIT Silchar offers strong internship opportunities through on campus drive majorly in 3rd year. Companies like microsoft, adobe, qualcomm, amazon, samsung recruit for SDE , research intern, data science and product role with stipend 30k to 80k rupees per month. Projects typically involves app development, AL/ML models, robotics design leading to PPO conversion, research paper, product prototypes and industry grade skill development.

Placement Experience

4

NIT Silchar has decent placement stat. Approx 75 percent student got placement from campus and they got decent package. In NIT Silchar from 7th semester students are eligible for placement and company comes whole year for recruiting. Approx 100 company visit the college throughout the year. In tech Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Walmart and more companies come. For core L&T, Adani, Tata Steel and more companies come. For service base Infosys, TCS, Wipro will come and give good offer. Highest package will come from tech company and that is 52lpa and average from all companies will lie from 10 to 12 lpa . My plans is that in my 4th year atleast I will get one job. If I don't get job then I will try from off campus or giving paper for government job

Fees and Financial Aid

Total fees for year for 1st year is approx 1,78,500 rupees for those whose family income is greater than 5 lakh rupees and category is other than sc,st and pwd. Total tution fee is 1,25,000 rupees. Caution fee is taken for only one time during first semester admission and amount is 20,000 rupees. Admission fee is 2000 rupees. Development fee is 3000 rupees and some other charges also apply. In my college there is some category where students payment less fee. For income more than 5 lakh rupees, they have to pay 1,25,00 rupees tution fee but for those students whose family income is between 1 to 5 lakh they have to pay only one third of tution fee i.e, 41,666 rupees. For those students whose family income is less than 1 lakh rupees or there category is sc/st/pwd they don't pay any tution fee. In my college NSP scholarship is provided by central government to those students whose family background is not good and amount is approx 50,000. Some private scholarship also provided to students so that they pay their college fees.

Campus Life

4

Life at NIT Silchar is often described as blend of academic rigor and vibrant student culture. The campus atmosphere is energetic, competitive offering a balance between learning and overall personality development. There are main fest which is celebrated at large scale in our campus. First one is Incandescence which is a cultural fest which is held in February month where students showcase their talent by dance ,music , theatre performance and celebrity performance. Another one is Teconesis which is a technical fest of our campus which is usually held in October month which mainly focus on innovation, research, robotics, coding competition . Here also celebrity performance happened. There is a very big library in our campus that is central library which is named on our former president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam sir. There is many books available in library which helps us for our semester or fir extra knowledge. There is also space in library where we study peacefully. The timing of library is from 10 am to 8 pm when we study. Classroom and academic buliding are well structured with modern facilities to support learning. Many lecture hall are equipped with projector, audio system, WiFi facility. There are two grounds in our campus which is football and cricket ground where college helps students for their extra curricular activities. There is also a basketball court, volleyball court and badminton court present in our campus. There are two social groups which is run by ministry of youth affairs which is NCC and NSS . This organisation help students for their personal growth as human. There is many clubs present in campus such as coading club, dance club , machine learning club, sports club, acting club and many more which helps students to work on their personal growth and work on their passion.

Hostel Facilities

4

I stay in my hostel which is named as Aryabhatta hostel. In my room there is one bed, chair, table and almirah provided. At the starting time of admission the mess food is okay but after 1 month the taste of food decrease continuously. Both veg and non veg food is provided in mess at dinner time. They provide breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner per day. For my registration in my hostel I get my hostel room no at my admission hall . After reaching the hostel I only fill the form and come in my room.

Admission

I get this college after qualifying jee mains exam through josaa counselling. I want NIT Durgapur but I miss out by only 1500 rank . Before NIT Silchar I get NIT patna civil engineering in first round of counselling but due to better placement stat and campus I choose this one . My admission process is very smooth where the help desk counter and senior help new comer. On my admission day I also get my scholarship id i.e, roll no. One think that is more frustrating on that day is that for hostel allocation, server was working and I get my hostel room no at 7 pm which is after 7 hours of my admission.

Faculty

4

In my department there is two sections in which section a has 80 students and remaining comes in section b. Their is one faculty for one subject. For most professor approaching and asking doubt are easy. They give their time after the class. Some of professor only give assignment and that is very tough to write along with studies. In my first semester there is 3 exams held. Sessional, minor and end semester. Sessional and minor exams both carry 20-20 marks and end semester exam carry 60 marks. The easy one is sessional and tougher one is end semester. There is one subject mechanical workshop where many students fail to clear the exam and average is very low but not in that way that we don't pass.

Night Life

4

For me the best hangout spot is our football ground where all friends sit for many hours and talk continuously. My hostel gate closing time is 8 pm so for late night activities i usually study or play any indoor game or play online games with friends which I like most. The gym close on 8 pm . Library also close on 8 pm . Cafeteria closing time is 9 pm. Campus timing is also 8 pm. The locality is not safe to roam at night because there are many animals roam inside the campus which is dangerous for our life.

Other Applied Colleges

National Institute of Technology - [NIT] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Civil Engineering)

I miss out this college by some marks. So I choose NIT Silchar instead of NIT Durgapur

Placement Experience:

The placements here are actually decent. The average package for my branch was around 13.5 LPA last year and branches like CSE, EC and EI have a higher average package generally. The campus is visited by almost all of the top companies including Google, Adobe, Facebook, etc. The detailed placement records are available on the website of the institute. The percentage of students getting placed ranges anywhere between 70 percent to 92 percent. I plan to get an M.Tech degree after completing my B.Tech course from an IIT if possible.
