Uttarakhand BTech admission 2025 is conducted by the Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand University of Technology (UTU), Dehradun. The admission is based on JEE Main scores and merit in class 12 followed by a counselling process. Priority is given to JEE Main and then the class 12 marks.
BTech admission for the 2025 session is expected to start in June 2025 with the registration process. After registration, you can proceed to choice filling. Choice filling, seat allotment and college reporting for phase 1 of counselling will be conducted in June 2025.
BTech is an undergraduate program in the field of engineering. Upon course completion, you can explore various jobs in different industries. You must have passed class 12 with Physics/ Mathematics/ Chemistry with 45% marks for BTech admission.

What is the BTech eligibility in Uttarakhand?
The Uttrakhand BTech eligibility criteria are set by the UTU, Dehradun. To apply for the BTech courses, you must ensure that you meet the qualifications mentioned below.
- You must have passed class 12 in Physics/ Mathematics/ Chemistry or other subjects, as mentioned by the UTU.
- You must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in the above subjects taken together.
- Candidates from the reserved categories are required to score 40% marks.
- If you have passed or appearing in the qualifying exam from other states, and have a Uttarakhand domicile, you can apply for admission under the Uttarakhand quota.
- You must have a valid JEE Main score card.
You will be granted a provisional admission if your final result is not declared, following the criteria, which is subject to submission of the result by the date of admission.
How to get admission to BTech courses in Uttarakhand?
Uttarakhand BTech admission is conducted by the UTU, Dehradun. The admission is based on JEE Main scores followed by the class 12 merit. You can fill out the application form if you meet the eligibility criteria. The admission steps are as follows.
- You have to first register yourself on the UTU online counselling portal.
- You have to select the course, add personal details to the application form and click Register.
- You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number and email ID.
- Upon entering the OTP, your registration will be confirmed.
- You have to log in using the credentials to fill out the application form. Your basic details are fetched from the registration panel and are non-editable.
- You also have to upload your recent photograph, a copy of your signature and ID proof.
- You can edit the details before making the final submission.
- The last step is to pay the application fee and submit the application form.
- You should take a printout of the application form for future reference.
In government-funded institutes, the reservation for Uttarakhand candidates is available as per the Uttarakhand Government rules. For All India seats, the reservation is applicable as per the Government rules.
Candidates claiming reservation must support their claim through relevant certificates to be produced at the time of counselling. If you fail to produce the required certificate, you will be considered under the general category.
In the instance of incorrect information detected at any stage of the admission process, your candidature will be automatically disqualified from the admission process. If incorrect information is detected in subsequent years, disqualification will take place with retrospective effect.

How counselling is done for Uttarakhand BTech admission?
The counselling process for Uttarakhand BTech admission is conducted by the UTU in a completely online format. The counselling generally consists of three rounds. You can check the general steps involved in the counselling process below.
- After the registration, you can proceed with the choice filling on the online portal.
- For the choice filling, you have to select the institute status, institute name and branch name and click on the Add button.
- You can fill in multiple choices using the same process.
- You can also delete or change the sequence of your choices.
- You have to click on the Save Your Choice button to submit the choices.
- You can preview your application and the filled choices before finally submitting them.
- No changes are allowed once you click the Final Submit button.
- Your choice will be frozen upon final submission and will be displayed on the dashboard.
A merit list is prepared by the competent authority. You will be allotted a seat based on your preference, JEE Main scores/ class 12 merit and seat availability. JEE Main scores are given the first priority followed by the class 12 marks. In case of an equal percentage in class 12, the candidate with the higher age is given preference.
You can view the allotment result on the official portal. If allotted a seat, a form will open for you on the View Allotment tab. You will have the following three options to choose from.
- Freeze - You can choose this option if you like the allotment and will take admission to it. You have to pay an advance admission fee of INR 10,000 on the portal. You will be issued a provisional allotment letter. You have to report at the allocated college on the reporting date with all the original documents for document verification and admission.
- Float - You can choose this option if you do not like the allotted institute or if you do not get the highest choice from your preference. You also have to pay the advance admission fee of INR 10,000 to be automatically considered for further counselling rounds.
In this participation, all the choices below the seat you have got in the preference are deleted. Only the choices above the seat you have got are considered for the next round. As the float option is considered provisional, a seat under the float option allotment letter will be generated with the preferences above the seat taken in the next round.
- Withdraw - You can choose this option if you want to withdraw from the admission process. You will be required to give the reason for withdrawing. If you wish to participate again in the next counselling round, you have to pay the INR 2,000 counselling fee. If you do not choose any option, you will be considered as withdrawn.
If you participate in the subsequent rounds after withdrawing, you have to click on the submit new choice button. You have to fill out the newly opened form and make the payment.

Ques. Can we get admission to BTech by giving UKSEE in Uttarakhand?
Ans. You can get admission to BTech courses in Uttarakhand through the UKSEE exam but only for lateral entry admission. It is a state-level exam conducted by UTU, Dehradun for UG admission and lateral entry to BTech programs in the state. If you have a diploma or an undergraduate degree in the related field, you can directly get admission to the second year of the BTech program.
Ques. Do I also have to pay the admission fee if I choose to withdraw from the UTU BTech counselling process?
Ans. You will not be required to pay the advance admission fee if you choose to withdraw from the UTU BTech counselling process. However, if you wish to participate again in the next counselling round, you will be required to pay INR 2,000 as the counselling fee. You have to again fill out the application form and make the payment by clicking the submit new choice button on the online portal.
