Kerala BTech admission 2025 is based on the Kerala Engineering, Architecture, Medical Entrance exam (KEAM). It is conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Exam (CEE), Kerala. You have to clear the KEAM exam and appear in the counselling process to get selected.
The registration for the KEAM 2025 is expected to start between March - April 2025 with the exam being conducted on June 2025. The choice filling for the first round can be conducted in July - August 2025. Seat allotment and college reporting for the same is expected for August 2025.
BTech is a 4-year undergraduate course that will provide you with knowledge of different engineering principles and practical skills. To be eligible for Kerala BTech admission, you should have cleared class 12 with 45% marks with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

What are the eligibility criteria for BTech in Kerala?
The qualifications for Kerala BTech admission are determined by the CEE. You must ensure that you meet the criteria before applying. You can check the eligibility criteria below.
- You should have passed class 12 from Kerala or other recognised boards with a minimum of 45% marks.
- Candidates belonging to SC/ST/SEBC or PD must have 40% marks in class 12.
- You should have Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry as one of the optional subjects.
- If you have not studied Chemistry, marks from Computer Science/ Biotechnology/ Biology are considered.
- Marks as shown in the result of the board exam are considered for academic eligibility.
- The Vocational Higher Secondary exam, Kerala is considered equivalent to the Higher Secondary exam, Kerala.
- You should have cleared the KEAM exam conducted by the CEE, Kerala.
- You should have completed 17 years of age as of December 31, 2025. There is no upper age limit.
- Only Indian candidates can apply for the BTech course.
- OCI and PIO candidates are treated as Indian candidates for admission purposes. They will not be eligible for any kind of reservation.
Candidates are divided into Keralites, Non-Keralites I (NK I) and Non-Keralites II (NK II) categories for admission. You will be considered Keralite if you are of Kerala origin. You will also be considered a Keralite if you are children of non-Keralite AIS officers allotted to the Kerala cadre. Under this, you will not be eligible for any reservation or fee concession.
Criteria for Non-Keralites I (NK I) are as follows.
- Children of non-Keralites working for the Government of India/Defence Services posted to Kerala and undergone qualifying courses in Kerala.
- Children of non-Keralite parents served/serving the Government of Kerala for 2 years.
- Non-Keralites who have been residing in Kerala for a period of 5 years within the 12 years of their study.
- Non-Keralites who have undergone their school studies in Kerala from class 8 to class 12.
You will be considered as Non-Keralites II (NK II) if you do not come under the Keralite or Non-Keralites I (NK I) category. You can take admission to both government and management quota seats in Government Cost-Sharing Engineering Colleges. It is only considered when Keralite and NK I category candidates are not available for admission.
Keralites, Non-Keralites I (NK I) and Non-Keralites II (NK II) have to produce certificates to prove their nativity during admission.
What is the age limit for BTech in Kerala?
There is no upper age limit set by the CEE for Kerala BTech admission. You should have completed 17 years of age as of December 31, 2025, which is the only age-related criterion. Other than the age, you also have to meet the educational qualifications, to be eligible for the course.
How to get BTech admission in Kerala?
Kerala BTech admission is governed by the CEE. You can proceed to the admission process if you meet the eligibility criteria. There are 5 steps for online application submission and all have to be completed. You can check the BTech admission steps listed below.
- Registration - You have to first register yourself on the official website. You will get a system-generated application number during registration.
- Filling Out of Application Form - You should fill out the application form carefully and check all the details before submitting it.

What is the Kerala BTech admission 2025 reservation policy?
Out of the total seats available for the BTech courses, some seats are reserved for different categories. The reservation is only for Keralites category candidates. You can check the reservation percentage in the following table.

Two seats are reserved for Rashtrapati Scouts and Guides (SG) for engineering courses. Some seats are also set apart for the nominees of the Government of India, Union Territories or other States.
What is the exam scheme for Kerala BTech?
The engineering entrance exam is conducted in a CBT mode. The exam is objective type in nature with MCQs. There are 75 questions from Mathematics, 45 questions from Physics and 30 questions from Chemistry.
The exam is based on higher secondary or equivalent exams and is 180 minutes long. For each correct answer, you will be rewarded 4 marks. 1 mark will be deducted from the total score for each incorrect answer.

How is counselling done for Kerala BTech admission 2025?
Seat allotment to Kerala BTech admission is done through a centralised allotment process (CAP). You will be allotted a seat based on the options preference, KEAM exam score and eligible reservation.
The rank list is prepared using equal weightage (50:50) of the normalised entrance exam score and qualifying exam marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. You must score a minimum normalised score of 10 to be eligible for the rank list. There is no requirement for the minimum score for SC/ST candidates.
You should only choose those colleges that you intend to join, failing to do so, you will lose your allotment and remaining stream options. The lost option will not be available in the next counselling rounds. When allotted a seat, your previous allotment will be automatically cancelled.
You should have your KEAM application number and password to register options on the official website. You can check the general procedure for registering options below.
- Log in to the KEAM candidate portal.
- Click on the Option Registration menu on the option registration page.
- Pay the option registration fee.
- Register options as per your preference and save them.
- View and print the list of registered options.
If you are allotted a particular seat, based on your option, you are bound to accept it. Failing it will result in losing the allotment as well as the existing options. Options can be changed anytime during the given period. Options saved at the time of closing of the registration facility are considered for processing.
You have to pay the fee at the allocated college. If you join the college and do not remit the fee, you will lose your allotment. If a higher fee seat is allotted later, than the first round, pay the difference. Once allotted a seat, you have to report to the allocated college for document verification and admission.
What are the required documents for Kerala BTech counselling 2025?
You have to report before the principal/head of the allocated institution for admission on the notified dates with the following documents.
- DOB Certificate.
- Transfer and Conduct Certificate from the last attended institution.
- Class 12 Mark Sheet and Pass Certificate.
- Eligibility Certificate from any university in Kerala if your qualifying exam is not Kerala Government’s class 12/ VHSE or CBSE/CISCE exam.
- Migration Certificate (if applicable).
- Physical Fitness Certificate.
