IISER Bhopal Reviews on Placements, Faculty and Facilities

From 7th semester onwards peoplee can opt for placements and hence not choosing to do Ms thesis at IISER . The companies that visit are mainly Nomura bank, Barclays , Sr. Reddy's Lab and Many other Quant Firms.The average salary is as high as 20 LPA due to lesser number of student sitting for placements.My plans after the degree is to get placed in a good company.

Only final-year students are eligible for campus placements. most students at iiserb are research orinented, so even though the institute has a placement cell, not many students take corporate offers. They usually end up taking PhD positions across the globe. The companies that usually come for their placement drive are Barklays, Dr. Reddy's Lab, Nomura, Delloite, SBI. The highest package was approx 28lpa, and the median package is approx 8lpa.

Placement statistics are not quite because of most students going to foreign for doing higher studies . only 4-5 students per department gets placement because only that many choose to . highest package last year was 37 LPA.companies like nomura bank, dr reddy's labs, barclays visit the campus.

Since IISER Bhopal is a research based institute, the placements here are not judged as in aspect of job placements after bachelor's degree, rather people here generally go for higher studies. But regardless the knowledge and experience gained here by people help them apply for any organisation off campus

The first year course includes Maths , programming, biology, chemistry, physics, PET 2nd year students have oppertunity to choose 3 premajors of their interest. However each subject have a capping of 150. The last three years of degree is for the major subject.

The core research-based curriculum made me opt for this course. The flexibility of choosing 3 out of 6 subjects in second year is perhaps one of the best part of this course. The teaching methods employed are excellent and the design of the course is well structured

Mostly the students here don't go after placements. They usually carry their Phds after they get graduated from here. Just doing Masters is not enough nowadays to get a good job in any of the scientific fields. Iiser bhopal has launched its own placement cell recently

Bs-Engineering and Economics students mainly get placed, BS-MS students goes for further studies like PhD. Average package is 10LPA. I will apply for PhD after my Bs-Ms dual degree. Highest package offered is about 36LPA

The books used in the course material are of international level. The curriculum prepares a student so practically for academic career and gives exposure to research experiences. The total number of exams are 4-6 in whole semester and the end semester exam paper is mostly difficult amongst them all .

The course curriculum is well organised. The college offers many programs like BS, Bs-Ms, msc, phd etc the bs-ms program is 5 years with 1st 2 years focused on overall scientific development. The major years 3 and 4 are highly focused on developing a good intellectual understanding of a partial subject. the final year is the thesis year. Each sem has 2 quizzes, a mid-sem and an end sem in duration of 4 months. The institute provides various options for higher studies after MS like PhD, industries etc.
