My expierence in IISER BHOPAL

Likes

The infrastructure is amazing compared to other colleges.
It has best sports facility with all sort of sports included except swimming.
The labs and tools provided are just amazing.

Dislikes

Mess system should be converted into pay n eat
The campus is in outskirts of the city .
No easy access to outside city without travelling min 12 kms.

Admission:

IISER 's are considered best for research and hence i choose them because of my intrest in this vast and wild field. For learning to think about why and how of the phenomenons occurring around us . The dmission process was as similiar as any othe college involving multiple rounds of councelling .

IISER BHOPAL : A HOME FOR MANY

Likes

College Campus is very good. Clean and well maintained. Hostels are good. There are multiple dining places in campus.
Faculty is helpful and professional, well versed with their field, and generally well experienced from abroad.
Get to meet people from various fields and experiences, from other universities and countries. Academic events are frequent.

Dislikes

Campus is far away from main city. have to travel atleast 15km to get to railway station.
Many things in campus are still under construction.

Admission:

Wanted to get a research oriented college because that was the ultimate goal. Applied to various research colleges, including other IISER's. WOuld have prefered IISER Pune as it was closer to home, but didnt get enough marks in the entrance exam All IISERs take admissions through the IISER APTITUDE TEST (IAT), seats are assigned based on rank and preference,eligilibty is 60% in board 12th exams.

My thoughts on IISERB

Likes

I absolutely love the fact that the campus is highly maintained and full of lush greenery.
the faculty we have here are extremely qualified individuals, having PhDs and multiple Post Docs in prestigious foreign universities.
the seniors here are very chill and helpful, therefore we have zero ragging culture here.

Dislikes

the first semester usually starts a month later than it's supposed to be and thus, the entire syllabus of 4 months is clamped up in 3 months, making it extremely hectic, especially for someone who just started their college life.
the campus is very far away from any urban centre because of which, there's no public transport other than super expensive auto rickshaw from here to Bhopal.
the number of restaurant options are very limited, especially after it's too dark, only a vending machine can save you. We had a night canteen before but it's closed now.

Admission:

I was interested in Physics from the very beginning of my JEE prep but had no idea that IISERs even exist and thought that if I want to study physics at the best possible level in India, IIT was the way. So I naturally aimed for it but I guess I didn't work hard enough and in the end, I failed to make it there. I only started exploring other options after my JEE attempt when I came accross IAT 2024 registration form. I then researched about IISERs and concluded that this is also a good option for my goal and decided to study properly for then next 20 days (amount of time that was left for my IAT attempt). Finally, I got in.

The campus is beautiful, and sports facilities are really good
The professors are great at their subjects, most of them are chill and very approachable
Labs and research facilities are also great, enough for any undergraduate to do whatever he wants

Dislikes

75% Attendance criteria is enforced, you can get by with slightly lesser attendance but that is a hassle
College itself has all the facilities but as it's far from main city, the cost of transport adds up each time you want to go there

I applied to other misers but chose this one as it has better campus life are almost similar across all of them, admissions happen through IISER APTITUDE TEST, where we can get these colleges based on our ranks.

A thorough guide to IISER Bhopal

Likes

Lab Facilities and their quality. Top-grade equipments are provided.
Campus Life. There are many activities and events happening, resulting in a very lively campus.
Junior-Senior Interactions. There is no ragging on campus, and seniors are very helpful and not authority exerting.

Dislikes

Nothing at all! Except that the fests aren't as large as some other colleges'

This was my dream college so I didn't apply for other colleges. I chose specifically IISER Bhopal over other IISERs as I felt it was the best for my probable line of future pursuit, chemistry. Also I liked the campus. Admissions are taken only from IISER Aptitude Test(IAT). Cutoffs for GEN are around 5000-6000 rank. Admission process is pretty smooth, although sometimes bit delayed.

IISER BHOPAL- A SWEET AND NICE CAMPUS!

Likes

The environment, specially the hill side,its a very colourful campus,the flowers in winter will win your heart.
The facilites we have in our chemistry department,the instrument we have for use.
The faculties behaviour while teaching,they are very generous,helpful.

Dislikes

Sometimes the way of teaching.Teachers should understand how to teach that students can understand.
The mess food.very first it seems good for one week..then it becomes the worst.
Some students are very narrow minded.they thought that only they are best,others don't even exist.

I did not get any iit, then i get here and i knew iiser bhopal is famous for chemistry that's why i came here and it was my best decision in my entire life. For msc the students come from CCMN counselling cracking IIT JAM.

The Place for your enthusiasm in Science

The campus is great, 250 acres around. It is still developing but is mostly already fine. The curriculum is nice and research focused. It also focuses on student's overall development and helps building a scientific mind while also being conscious.
Was quite smooth to fit in here. The seniors are nice. There is no ragging scene and a strict anti-ragging cell.
As this is a research institute, IISER Bhopal does not have a significant number of students getting placed into companies from natural sciences. However, there is a good number of Ph.D. placements made from here.

Dislikes

There is no night canteen and both the market complex and everything to shop closes before 12am. only vending machine left in some hostels and that too empty at night mostly.
many students come here choosing this as a backup which ruins the quality of peers sometimes.

I applied for IISc but couldn't get it. I cleared JEE Main and Advanced and was getting good engineering colleges as well but wanted to pursue basic sciences. I was getting good pvt colleges as well. Overall, my interests were aligned to research.

My experience at IISER Bhopal

Likes

IISERB has a great and well maintained infrastructure with alot of trees, all the facilities are well maintained and complaints are acknowledged.
The faculty is supportive and helpful, they are really well qualified individuals who are ready to help you most of the times, you just need to be willing to ask for help.
Different kind of social events are organized from time to time, also the enviroment here is really great and positive with a good peer group

Dislikes

The institute is mostly focused on research, and there are little less opportunites for engineering students as compared to research students, there is lack of engineering related enviroment
As it is majorly a research institute the placement cell is not yet well developed.
Gender ratio is 3:2. Academics here are slightly hectic but managable

Admission:

I gave JEE mains, and advance and IAT, i qualified all three of them, although i was not getting an IIT, and i was getting so called lower NITs with non circuital branches. IISER being a well knows institute for research, with iiser bhopal having engineering course as well, i decided to go for iiser as I believed i will get a better enviroment and peer group here. IISERs take admission through IISER Aptitute Test (IAT)

Great Campus and overall community is commendable.
Faculties and senior PhDs are open to discussions anytime and are helpful throughout

Dislikes

Rules and Regulations have become stricter than before disabling people to enjoy that campus freedom we use to have.

Admission:

I applied to Delhi University (Ramjas and Hindu) for Zoology. BHU- Chemistry Mizoram University (Zoology) Doctor Bhim Rao Ambedkar College IISER Bhopal gave me an opportunity to choose my major later in my second year after exploring which worked out for me.
