Eligibility
Having qualified for admission into undergraduate programs is contingent upon the following:
- Admission Depending Upon Entrance Exam: To gain access to most undergraduate programs including BS (4-years), BS-MS (5-year), B.Tech (4-year) and B.Tech-M.Tech (5-year), students will have to take a qualifying test called the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) administered by the university.
- Admission Basis: Applicants have access to admission through 3 entry points:
- Entrance-Based: IISER Aptitude Test (a brand new route as of 2025)
- KVPY Based: KVPY-SA fellowship recipients
- Entrance Based: JEE Advanced rank of 15,000 (discontinued in 2025)
- Academic Criteria: Applicants must have passed Class 12 with at least 3 subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology. Applicants must score a minimum of 60% (General/OBC-NCL/EWS) or 55% (SC/ST/PwD).
Admission Process
Admission into an undergraduate program (BS, BS-MS, B.Tech) is primarily based on the IISER Aptitude Test. The application and selection will include a process in the following sequence:
Step 1: Qualify for the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) that will be conducted in May.
Step 2: Merit Ranking - Students will receive a Common Rank List (CRL) and a category wise rank, if applicable.
Step 3: Counselling & Seat Allotment - 6 to 10 rounds of counseling process, where candidates will be able to submit a preference order and modify the order of the preferences across the different IISER campuses.
Step 4: Document Verification - All shortlisted candidates must report for document verification for final admission.
