Course Curriculum Overview

4

The core research-based curriculum made me opt for this course. The flexibility of choosing 3 out of 6 subjects in second year is perhaps one of the best part of this course. The teaching methods employed are excellent and the design of the course is well structured

Internships Opportunities

3.5

I have had no internships yet, but from interacting with profs and seniors, it is evident that its not that hard to land an internship in the laboratory of a professor, that would give us the right kind of scientific exposure we need for out future

Fees and Financial Aid

Semester Fee: 33500 per sem Hostel FEE : 7000 per sem Mess fee : 3200 per month there is INSPIRE scholarship for those who are eligible, eligibility includes top 1% in state board/CBSE board There are other scholarships for people with different categories

Campus Life

3.5

Enthuzia is the annual fest held in late Feb-early March Singularity is the annual science fest in January Classrooms have both blackboard for chalktalks and screens for PowerPoint presentations Clubs are active and events from Luminaire the movie club, Uttarang the music club keep us entertained throughout the year

Hostel Facilities

2.5

The rooms are quite small and the fact that we have to share a wardrobe sucks, the washrooms and corridors are cleaned everyday, The mess menu is flexible as its a student run body and the rates are affordable and taste and hygiene are ensured

Admission

I had applied to various engineering colleges in Bangalore , but cancelled my application as their counselling started much later after my seat in IISER got confirmed. Admissions are made by IISER Aptitude Test which test you on basis of 11th and 12th grade syllabus of PCMB. The exam is easy to moderate

Faculty

3.5

There is wide range of faculties and thus this becomes a very difficult question to give a answer as a whole. The overall impression so far has been that most faculties are experienced and well versed in their research areas but this might not necessarily be true in their teaching styles. The contrast between profs exists to a large extent and getting the right faculty sometimes can be luck based

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum is very research driven, and it is very flexible too. Course is as per the New Education Policy and is relevant to modern industrial needs. However the Curriculum is all around Pure Sciences, like the B.Sc but just the college is much better than a normal BSc college. First two year is given to students to get along with subjects that they want to study in future, in the third year they choose their Majors. Quizzes are frequent and occurs biweekly, while Exams occurs every month and so.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum trains students in various research fields, including lab and theory. The course prepares a student to get either a industry position, or PhD position. The course curriculum can be improved by porividing more exposure to students who havent experienced, these fields. Exams are good, easy if youve understood the course content. These exams are based on a wide information of the topic, and are not limited to just one textbook.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Since I am just in my first year right now, the courses I have are fairly introductory. But since we have to study PCMB, Earth Science, Programming and a Humanities course just in the first year, it's fairly hard to manage. we have 2 quizzes, a mid sem exam and an end sem exam in each semester typically at the end of each consecutive month (4 month semester). The marking scheme, syllabus, paper pattern, time, difficulty etc are all subject to change according to the professor.

Placement Experience:

As it's a research institution, more emphasis is given to academia and research instead of placements. We have an active placement cell, but still, it's lackluster compared to engineering colleges. The average package hovers around 10 lpa, and only a handful of people get placements. Most opt for Phd or an MBA.

We have a relatively better course structure, but what i think is IISER Pune has the most advanced sort of curriculum which gives them a better advantages and helps in their NIRF Ranking also. All the courses should be type of open elective.

Placement Experience:

Mostly from 8th semester onwards students become eligible for sitting in placements and getting preplacement offers in their applied companies. Companies like nomura Bank ,Barclays and Dr Reddy's lab have visited the campus in the past. Mostly all the students get placed because less number of student sitting for the placements. According to last year data around 31 lakhs per annum was the highest package and the average was around 10 lakhs per annum. My plan is to get into a foreign university for my higher studies.

Since IISER Bhopal is a research based institute, the placements here are not judged as in aspect of job placements after bachelor's degree, rather people here generally go for higher studies. But regardless the knowledge and experience gained here by people help them apply for any organisation off campus
