Course Curriculum Overview

5

Curriculum is very research driven, and it is very flexible too. Course is as per the New Education Policy and is relevant to modern industrial needs. However the Curriculum is all around Pure Sciences, like the B.Sc but just the college is much better than a normal BSc college. First two year is given to students to get along with subjects that they want to study in future, in the third year they choose their Majors. Quizzes are frequent and occurs biweekly, while Exams occurs every month and so.

Internships Opportunities

5

You can get the internship from professor or by coldmailing them, you can go for reading project given by them. Or you can also apply in companies or colleges. Many students have got them and they do this often in Summer and Winter Vacations.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are paid every semester and, for the first year, overall tution and hostels fees included is 1,20,000 INR, while mess fees is excluded and costs less than 4,000 INR permonth, Tution fees are excluded for SC/ST students. Many Scholarships are available here like DST Inspire, State Level Scholarship, Shraman, etc.

Campus Life

5

Fests and Events are very happening here. We have Annual Fest Enthuzia, we celebrate every festival of india in enthusiasm here as the students come from very diverse background. Library is very big hygienic and consists of 3 floors. Most of the Books are available and easy to Issue. Classroom are very good and each of them has a smart projector Connectivity. Students run most of the things here, from Outreach programs to event hosting, Sports activity are very functional and very good honestly.

Hostel Facilities

5

Rooms are properly lit and we have ethernet high speed RJ45 port, two mains power outlet one high power output port, a bed cot, a chair, tubelight and a led holder port, for each student out of two for which one room is alloted. For each hostel, a seperate mess is given and the quality depends on mess, but overall the food given is satisfactory, but should not be compared with food at home. Hostel is given as you get your admission form. No day scholars are allowed here in this college. Evryone must reside in the designated hostel.

Admission

I didnt applied to many other colleges, I wanted what this college provided, and got here. The course and faculties, the exposure and Insights we get here was very promising to me. Students can get here by applying to IISER Admission Test (IAT), form of which is released every year in April May. As the demand for such colleges is ever increasing, cutoff are predicted to go higher each passing year.

Faculty

4

The Faculites teaching here are very well qualified and most of them are foreign returns, Their methods of teaching and explaining is very professional. Ratio of faculty to students can be estimated 1:30. But few of them are nasty, not everyone is perfect on their own. Semester exams are tough and no one is allowed to cheat and fool the invigilators, however the long proven method of studying a night or week before exams works here too.

Night Life

4

We have a decent gym, a very good library, and a sports ground for every sports here. We have a night time restriction on few things here like library, cafe, gym, most of others are open all day and night. We have ICH and Cafe Coffee Day here, Ideation Hut, Amul Dispensary, all of which are good but they can be pricey sometimes

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum trains students in various research fields, including lab and theory. The course prepares a student to get either a industry position, or PhD position. The course curriculum can be improved by porividing more exposure to students who havent experienced, these fields. Exams are good, easy if youve understood the course content. These exams are based on a wide information of the topic, and are not limited to just one textbook.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Since I am just in my first year right now, the courses I have are fairly introductory. But since we have to study PCMB, Earth Science, Programming and a Humanities course just in the first year, it's fairly hard to manage. we have 2 quizzes, a mid sem exam and an end sem exam in each semester typically at the end of each consecutive month (4 month semester). The marking scheme, syllabus, paper pattern, time, difficulty etc are all subject to change according to the professor.

Placement Experience:

As it's a research institution, more emphasis is given to academia and research instead of placements. We have an active placement cell, but still, it's lackluster compared to engineering colleges. The average package hovers around 10 lpa, and only a handful of people get placements. Most opt for Phd or an MBA.

We have a relatively better course structure, but what i think is IISER Pune has the most advanced sort of curriculum which gives them a better advantages and helps in their NIRF Ranking also. All the courses should be type of open elective.

Placement Experience:

Mostly from 8th semester onwards students become eligible for sitting in placements and getting preplacement offers in their applied companies. Companies like nomura Bank ,Barclays and Dr Reddy's lab have visited the campus in the past. Mostly all the students get placed because less number of student sitting for the placements. According to last year data around 31 lakhs per annum was the highest package and the average was around 10 lakhs per annum. My plan is to get into a foreign university for my higher studies.

Since IISER Bhopal is a research based institute, the placements here are not judged as in aspect of job placements after bachelor's degree, rather people here generally go for higher studies. But regardless the knowledge and experience gained here by people help them apply for any organisation off campus
