Royal Global University, Guwahati was established in July 2009 as the Royal Group of Institutions. It has now been merged into The Assam Royal Global University. Ques. How good is Royal Global University Guwahati?

Ans. Students and alumni report that RGU Guwahati is below average. Royal global university is the worst university one could ever imagine, as per alumni. Students are mesmerised by its infrastructure. It is actually beautiful and well maintained. However, they will give you a 3 day orientation in which whatever they will tell you is all a bluff. Classes are conducted from 9 to 5 but after the lunch break, there will be no proper class and still you have to sit all day. This university will torture you mentally and will certainly make you depressed. They don’t care about your problems at all. Not all the teachers or administration are bad but some of them are very mean. Even if you tell them your problems, they don’t care about the students. During Covid-19, this university wanted to conduct an exam. Students were not against online examinations but absurd instructions like keeping their camera on and each question will be uploaded after 15 mins, during a one hour exam. Students were given plentiful assignments and were asked to appear for exams, for which they had no time to appear. Students and alumni advise against joining the university because they only want your money, with no quality education in return.

Ques. How is Royal Global University (RGU), Assam for doing an MBA and how are the placements?

Ans. Alumni say it is absolutely worthless! You’ll waste your 2 years of life here. If you still want to try for an MBA, give CAT or XAT for better colleges. It will be tough but at the end of 3–4 years you’ll have a good career. Doing MBA from these tier 4–5 colleges doesn’t make sense. You’ll get a package of INR 2– INR 3 lakhs, working as sales reps in below-average companies.

Ques. Which one is better for a B.Tech, Kaziranga University or Royal Global University?

Ans. Alumni report that Kaziranga University is a better University for doing BTech, compared to Royal Global University. At Kaziranga University, the students are shaped in such a way that they become leaders in their field. If they compete with the other students of other universities, it shall always be a healthy competition. The students are allowed to participate in the various clubs of the university where they can pursue their hobbies. Taking part in the extracurricular activities makes the students active and makes them stress-free in pursuing challenging careers such as BTech. I think these facilities are hardly seen in universities such as RGU. The BTech course of Kaziranga University is one of a kind because it is aimed at changing the demographics of the Northeastern region through applied technical education and research, creating bright engineers and entrepreneurs, and developing world-class professionals and citizens of the world.

Pros and Cons of my College

Students view on course curriculum

Since IT sector is enormously growing nowadays so it peaked my interest to study the IT field hence I chose computer science engineering. Through CSE we can learn the computational work and the coding problem which helps us to get jobs in high paying companies. Web development, data scientists, data analysts etc are some the high paying professions that we can acquire through CSE. The only improvement needed is the practicing of more coding related problems which will enhance our skills. Also the timing of exams is of 3hours which is enough to attempt all the questions, be it difficult or easy. Though some of the questions might tend to test our mental ability and might be tricky but the timing of 3 hours is enough.

Internship opportunities provided by the college

The only internship training that we did till now is in NIELIT which stands for National Institute of electronics and information technology. Here we did the course of AI and ML. We learnt the basics of Machine learning and its importance in the IT sector. We will be needed to give an exam in order to get the certificates. It was an unstipend internship since it was am internship training program .

Fees of the course per semester

The year wise fee that we pay in our college is 1,46,000 i.e., 73000 per semester. The development fee is of 15000, Labroratory fee is of 5000, Library fee is pf 7500, Activity fee is of 5000, Tuition fee is of 38000, amd the Examination fee is of 2500. This is the total breakdown of the fee structure. Also the fee increases every year. During our admission time it was 73000 but now the new batch has to pay semester fee of 91000. The fees of all the batchmate is same. There was an internship training held by our college which was at NIELIT that stands for National Institute of electronics and information technology, which was of 15 days course on AI and ML for which we will be provided with certificates by writing an exam.

Events organized, clubs and facilities available in the campus

The overall experience of the college is so far so good. There are multiple annual and technical festivals held. One of the major technical fest held is Hackathon which is called as SIH (Smart India Hackathon). Here various teams are made. The criteria for making the team is that there must be two girls in the team , a team with less than two girls will not be accepted. Here the team members choose a real life problem and try to find solutions for that problem by making a software application or website or any hardware devices. The winner cam compete in National level Hackathon program. Also there is Alumni night held in the month of November where the Alumni of the college is called for a fun and blissful evening. Also there are almost every book available in the library, be it novels , articles, or previous year question papers as well. A smart boarf is provided to each classroom for smart learing. There also multiple clubs in the college like cultural club, robotics club, literature club,

Students view on faculties and examination of the college

The student-teacher relationship is overall good. Every teacher is appointed to a specific subject. The students can approach the teacher whenever the feel like except for the lunch time. Some of the faculties I like are Dubari Sharma and Ankita agarawala because we can really look upto them and ask them any doubts without hesitating and they reply to our doubt in a calm and understanding manner. A faculty I do not like is Ishita Chakraborty because she is not very nice to students. She scolds the students pretty much every time. There are main exams held in every semester. First is the mid semester examinations which is of 20 marks and the second is the end term examinations which is of 70 marks and 30 marks are from internal assessment which makes it a total of 100 marks. Backlogs are a very often thing for certain students. Four to five students cannot clear the difficult exams and obtains a backlog in that particular subject. There are a total of 6 subjects in the 5th sem. They are Operating systems, principle of programming language, graph theory, constituition of India, communicative english, legal literacy(general elective) and software engineering.

Why students choose this college over any other college?

I got a confirmation from Handique girls college but didn't choose to go there as I wanted to do a more stable course than bsc. In Royal Global university where I currently study , the computer science degree is more trustworthy and useful for our future. I didn't get any rejection from the colleges I applied. I was selected in B. Barooah college and Handique girls college but I didn't go there as I didn't want to do a BSC degree. The admission criteria of our college is first we will be needed to fill up a form of our college , then an online viva round will be held where we will be asked questions of our course. There will be one faculty member of the college and two-three students aspiring for getting admitted to the college. After the viva round is completed, then a confirmation letter will be sent to us . After that we will called to the college to pay the admission fee which was 45000 in our time. Once we get admitted then the various facilities will be asked to us if we want to avail them or not like hostel facilities, bus facilities etc. Once everything is done then our admission to the college is finalised.

The college provided me an opportunity to get into design. Something that is not available here in Guwahati yet other than IIT. This is the role for me to wanting to join the course. Other than that, mostly every other reason is not valid to make anyone want to go this university in specific. The availablity to get the course is the only foresight. Post 2 years I had taken an lateral entry into a different university outside guwahati which I feel is a better decision if one can afford the same.

A genuine review of my college

Admission:

The only reason I couldn't go to the college I dreamt of is because my university drained me of all the money I had. It took 1.5lakhs from me at the very beginning. And when I got into the college I longed for. The money was already gone and I couldn't take my admission there. The college wouldn't return the money too so I was basically stuck there.

Pros and Cons of my College

Admission:

I got a confirmation from Handique girls college but didn't choose to go there as I wanted to do a more stable course than bsc. In Royal Global university where I currently study , the computer science degree is more trustworthy and useful for our future. I didn't get any rejection from the colleges I applied. I was selected in B. Barooah college and Handique girls college but I didn't go there as I didn't want to do a BSC degree. The admission criteria of our college is first we will be needed to fill up a form of our college , then an online viva round will be held where we will be asked questions of our course. There will be one faculty member of the college and two-three students aspiring for getting admitted to the college. After the viva round is completed, then a confirmation letter will be sent to us . After that we will called to the college to pay the admission fee which was 45000 in our time. Once we get admitted then the various facilities will be asked to us if we want to avail them or not like hostel facilities, bus facilities etc. Once everything is done then our admission to the college is finalised.

A BSc in optometry is of 3 years duration. Academic Requirement 

  • 10+2 in Science Stream or equivalent from a recognized Board/ Council with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology & English as compulsory subjects and with minimum 50% marks in aggregate (5% relaxation to SC/ST/OBC – Non-Creamy Layer).
  • Candidates passing with PCM without Biology in 10+2 will have to undergo remedial classes/ bridge course for Biology
  • Candidates passing with PCB without Mathematics in 10+2 will have to undergo remedial classes/ bridge course for Mathematics
