The curriculum of the BA in English course is comprehensive as it convers most literary periods and important writers in the English literart canon. There is a paper on content and creative writing as well. However the course can be made more relevant with the current job market in mind.

From 2nd year of college students are eligible for placement as currently iam in 1st year I got no offers from placement and the students need minimum of 75% to be in a placement and my plans is to get into jobs after the degree

Placements in our college are very brilliant but there's a downside to it'. If you do bcom from Sxc cal either morning or evening batch, you are going to have an amazing and stable financial situation. But in English , don't expect earning a big salary. In campus placements exist for English students as professors. Many (almost all) of our professors are ex students of st Xavier's Calcutta.

There is a 4 years Curriculum Course of B.A Hons in English with 8 semesters. But however, we can discontinue the classes after 3 years with only a bachelor's degree. If we wish to continue the classes after 3 years, we can opt for research which will only be eligible to students with a minimum 75% aggregate in 3 semesters, and get an honors degree with research after the 4th year. We can also take it without research and get an honors degree. It provides internships that can be added to our resume. The course needs to provide more subject options such as library science, human rights, psychology, and education. The exams are very difficult and tough to score. Too many assignments and not much time is given to complete them. The credits are very difficult to score.

The English Hons course from 2023 onwards under NEP is a four years course. The course structure will have major papers in literature , a minor paper (socio ,his ,eco ,film studies ,etc.) along with two multi-disciplinary subjects where the students are given the option to pick from the courses offered by other departments like biology, physics, journalism, etc. For English the course is sufficient to keep you busy, its not that tough but if it was easy everybody would be doing it . The professors are amazing and supportive , and it will be a joyride along with them .

The course is very educative. There are real life experiences given to the students through field assignments, group projects, frequent tests. The professors are also very effective in their jobs. There are even smart board learnings..

1) I chose English (Hons.) because I love Literature and always wanted to pursue it for higher studies. 2) Student-teacher ratio is about 60:1 3) The faculty was amazing. They were all extremely qualified and their teaching method was amazing. They made each lecture very interesting and were always available to clear doubts. They also helped us with our assignments. 4) The exams were always held on time. The schedule of exams was given at the beginning of each semester. The questions were moderate to difficult and if one attended classes regularly and paid attention to what was being taught, it was not difficult to pass.

BA in English is a very future-proof course for getting a job in the IT companies and I liked the course from the very beginning, that's why I chose the course. There are very good faculties present in the college (About 10-12 faculties in every Department) and the number of students is about 60-70 every department in every year. Every faculty members are MA qualified. Their teaching quality is very good, they explain the topic very simply so that everyone can understand the topic. There are 4 internal theory exams in each semester. If everyone classes regularly then they can easily pass the examination.

I want to be a writer someday soon and this was the best possible course to enrich my qualities and avail my goal. The faculty student ratio is approx 1:60. The teachers are very friendly and are ever ready to clarify the query of the students. The faculty is well qualified and most of the professors have doctorate in their respective fields along with highly efficient communication skills. However, the term exams are conducted within a gap of 4-5 months and a mid semester exam is conducted before every term examination. The course tests the students ability to understand and interpret and hence a student's attentiveness and present mindedness decide whether he/she will pass the examination or not.

It's one of the most prestigious colleges not only in West Bengal but also in India. The faculty is really great. Everything about my college is exactly actually more than what I could have asked for.
