Course Curriculum Overview
There is a 4 years Curriculum Course of B.A Hons in English with 8 semesters. But however, we can discontinue the classes after 3 years with only a bachelor's degree. If we wish to continue the classes after 3 years, we can opt for research which will only be eligible to students with a minimum 75% aggregate in 3 semesters, and get an honors degree with research after the 4th year. We can also take it without research and get an honors degree. It provides internships that can be added to our resume. The course needs to provide more subject options such as library science, human rights, psychology, and education. The exams are very difficult and tough to score. Too many assignments and not much time is given to complete them. The credits are very difficult to score.
Internships Opportunities
The internship opportunities are available after the 3rd year. It provides credits as well as adds to our job resume. The internship includes social services like giving out food packets to the poor and other college camps.
Fees and Financial Aid
A total of 31900 including admission, additional, tuition, session, registration, first-semester exam, development, mark sheet, library, and cyber facility fee was required after getting selected for the college. Reservations are available for Christian, SC, OBC students. The scholarship is available to all students who score a min of 50% in each semester.
Campus Life
St Xavier's College is widely known for its events. The most famous event of this college is Xavotsav which takes place for 3 days. Famous singers are sponsored and tickets are sold outside the campus. The tickets are free for the students studying at this college. There are many food stalls here. Other events include Xuberance and Xavocristi. Xavocristi is another famous event here for only catholic students from classes 6 to 12. Corpus Christi procession is held from the college ground.
Admission
Eligibility of the course is an aggregate of 55% in the subject you wish to do honours with and best of 3 subjects in your board exam. However students with 90% and above have a higher chance of being selected. Application form is available on their college website sxccal.in with a charge of 600.
Faculty
The teachers are less compared to the students. The English Department teachers are very good. It is one of the best colleges in West Bengal to study English. They are also very polite and helpful. We interact with the teachers quite often to clear our doubts.
