Remarks

The discipline in the college is admirable. Lack of political activities has made it what a college exists for in the first place, that is, pursuing higher studies. Every year, Semester VI student is given a chance to provide a thorough, detailed review and feedback of the college without any fear of persecution. This is truly remarkable.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is fairly orthodox but nonetheless enjoyable. The English course included a brief history of English literature. It then covered selected works from the era of the Renaissance, the Wits, the Neo-Classicists, the Pre-Romantics, and the Romantics, then moving on to the Victorian era, Modernists and Post-Modernists, and included some American literature.

Placement Experience

3

The college does have a placement cell. However, I have not availed of this facility. There is little I can add regarding this matter.

College Events

3

The college hosts a huge number of events. Different fests are organized by different departments of the college. Among these, the biggest is the one held by the English department, known as Literaria. This is a cultural event that is held with a view to promoting and celebrating literary skills. Many colleges compete in this fest in skit contests, writing contests, slam poetry contests, art contests, and so on. The winner is the college with the maximum wins across all events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

As St. Xavier's College is a Jesuit institution, the fees are moderately low. For the English course, the down payment ranges from 18,000 to 21,000. The yearly fees for my course were approximately 6,100 per quarter for the first two years, and then 5,500 or so for the final year. The total cost was roughly 100,000 to 150,000.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am unaware of any scholarship or education loan provided by St. Xavier's College. Even if it exists, I have not availed myself of this facility. There is little I can add regarding this matter.

Campus Life

3.5

Thanks to the strict implementation of rules, the college campus feels like a safe haven. Reports of harassment of any kind have been negligible. The college provides ample scope for participation in extracurricular events. However, participation in these may come at the expense of attendance.

Alumni/Alumna

The college has an established alumni network. However, since I passed out only recently, I am yet to establish any meaningful contact with them.

Admission

Passed ISC from St. Xavier's Collegiate School adjacent to the college. There is no written admission test. The college is infamous for its high cut-offs. For an ISC humanities student enrolling for an art course, the selection process goes like this. Marks in the subject for which one is enrolling is doubled and added to the aggregate percentage.

Faculty

5

The faculty is the backbone of the college and the prime reason for its lasting fame and reputation. St. Xavier's particularly famous for its Commerce faculty and English faculty. The English department boasts of brilliant scholars with an astounding profundity of knowledge and a fun, entertaining way of imparting it in the classroom. As an alumnus, to note their accomplishments would be to show off.

I want to know bengali literature and all type of poems and proses that's why I choose B.a. in bengali literature. According to me, my course helps me in doing Masters in Bengali. From the point of view of improvements, I feel that digital classes can be conducted in the class by leaving the theory classes. Mere collage The exam level is basically hard and exams are conducted twice a year.

I have always wanted to persue English as a career. I love studying English but not a big fan of the new curriculum by NEP that includes a lot pf irrelevant papers. The semesters are not consistent. Odd semesters usually have a lot of time like 6-8 months but even semesters barely consist of 2-3 months.

Course Curriculum Overview:

We were held a class for upto 1hrs, thus we had 4 class a day. Sometimes it is boaring sometimes it becomes striking, it depends on the mood. It is to say little knowledge is a dangerous thing, if you don't read you cannot pass the semester examination. Although it will provide you a second chance. But with change of syllabus the exam pattern also change. You need to attain a total percentage of 75(%) to maintain you honours subject otherwise you would be regarded as programme course student.
