Faculty

The faculty-to-student ratio at our college is fairly balanced, allowing for personalised attention for students in most departments. most professors are approachable, supportive and open to discussion both inside and outside the classroom; they are greatly willing to help students with academic doubts, guidance, and even provide informal mentorship when needed. Among my department faculty, i like Dr Rekha Gupta who teaches microbiology, her classes are engaging, well-structured and very knowledgeable. similarly dr. anita kapila would probably be one of the best teachers in our college itself while most of them are pretty nice there is one prof.k who's teaching style doesn't resonate well for examples she like inactive teaching methods, talking down to students and sitting back and letting students do most of the work. there is only one end sem exam which is fairly average to above average, according to me. The difficulty level also depends on your course. Most of the students pass the exams maybe 7-8% fail. The course curriculum is very fair and relevant to current industry demands

Course Curriculum Overview

one of the main reason i chose this subject was the interdisciplinary nature of the curriculum, which offers a balance of core subjects. the curriculum does a reasonably good job in preparing students for real world applications. Teaching methods can also be improved by integrating active lessons, multimedia tools and student led discussions, rather than simply realying on textbooks and monologue style reading. exams are conducted once a semester towards its end with addtional internal exams like tests, quizes, presentations sprinked within. the frequency is pretty managable but during crunch times it becomes a litlle difficult to manage all these subjects by themselves.

The faculty is great as they are very helpful and very student friendly...they tend to mold and communicate with the students well and try to solve the problems we have as much as they can..there are around 2 sem exams in a year and the faculty actually provides us with enough notes for us to ace the exam.

Course Curriculum Overview

There are compulsory internships where we can actually learn about the works we are about to do in the future..they tend to make us ready and give us a heads up..there are even different events with helps in varies ways as well

Fees and Financial Aid

The total fee for the course is 4,31,000. Since it's a three year degree programme so the annual fee for the first year is 1,30,000 with 20,000 as a security deposit. The fee increases by 5% every year so for the second year annual fee is 1,37,000. For the third year the fee is 1,44,000. As of the lab charges are included in the fee structure of the respective annual charges, so there's no examination charges, lab fee and other fee. There's no advantage of having a reservation as all students are equal and fee structure is same for all of them.

Faculty

Faculties are super approachable as they are very supportive in terms of helping to write a reseach paper. in each semester there's 7-8 exams happened including electives, as we have to pass the exam individually. assignment marks which is of 50% were added. exam were moderately good , if a student gets fail in the exam, he/she must have to give the re-examination on alternative semester. exam is almost relevent to the course curriculam.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearwise fees is around Rs. 22000 p.a.. In the first year, the admission fees is around 17000 (inclusive of the Sem 1 fees) and after that, each sem was around Rs. 10k-11k maximum. Other than that, students with financial crisis used to get concession on showing necessary proof to the TIC. Scholarship facilities available like SVMCM, INSPIRE, K2.

Faculty

There are 4 faculty in Microbiology and the number of students is around 35. The CBCS curriculam made us do Microbiology during our Honours and in Pass subjects, we had Chemistry and Zoology/Physiology. Exam is conducted semester wise and you need to get atleast 30% in each paper in every part, to get a pass certificate. Total 6 semester in 3 years.

Faculty

1. The student-teacher bond is not great with everyone, cause not everyone here likes each other, i am in school of sciences and i dont really think that every faculty likes to be with us. some are nice and some are just there to pretend. 2. best faculties are for me who stood by my side and in my every decision, they have corrected me when i was wrong and i am glad for them, (shweta bera, changa ma'am, virendra sir) GREATEST OF ALL, these are my favourites all the time, even if they are not with us in college anymore. 3. KHYATI HARKHANI, i hate her attitude, shes always in some attitude all the time when we ask something to her. i just dont like her. 4.exams are okay, as it should be, no complaints about that

Campus Life

campus life is great, students are nice, mostly people are nice. but they keep increasing our fees and who is single parenting for their child, its difficult for them to educate their children there. it should be reasonable so evreyone can enjoy and learn something.

The Annual fest organized by SNU is AIU fest held every year. The college also participates in many intercollegiate events including xavrang, umang, amiphoria. The libraries are well equipped with books and journals. The classes are equipped with air conditioners and projectors. The college organizes hustle football event every year. The college has eco club music and dance club. There are dance teams that participate in intercollege events.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum is very relevant in real life scenarios that helped me choose this curriculum. The curriculum offers opportunities to the students that to preapre for our job. The lab practicals and experiments makes the students ready. The course is up to date I feel but the experiments could have been better relevant to real life. The timings of exams are once every six months and the hardness is quite hard compared to some other colleges

Placement Experience

Well College two providers with the placements but there are lots of issues with the placement like you have to be good scoring within the semesters and if you are a much scoring in the semester you might face some rejection during your placement sessions and as for as the placements there are maximum placement of like 50 to 60 lakhs per year and minimum placement should be around 2 lakhs per year but yeah it is put much good all over for the placements and yeah if I do not get placements there are lots of programs and workshops had in the college to help us with hard skill development and soft skill developments too which help us a lot with the finding job opportunities after the college we are provided with workshops and on trainings that help us to just follow through the working procedures and the job opportunity procedures how will be working in the future etc and lots of other things so the college is pretty much good at providing any support that is a student require for job opportunities in future and that's all it As for my future plans I plan to pursue my masters from same University and I will be pursuing my doctorate will be from my guest for a university or an international University cause I want to be a researcher the college provides good opportunity for the doctrate too but yeah I want to pursue my higher studies in the foreigner university.

Campus Life

Well College have a very good environment inside the campus it's all green and trees all around but as for the campus life I can say you are previsible studies and the extra curricular activities provided but college such as the college programs like your fest your workshops and hands on trainings that are provided by college to improve your heart skills as for the technical developments and facilities that has been provided there are well classes and labs with proper equipments and there are also many much more things that has been provided to us like playgrounds where we can play either footballs quotes for badminton and basketball and watch more things such as your clubs are also there which you can participate in the your free time for your club activities there are very clever activities organize within the college campus by the friend clubs that helps you develop your soft and communication skills also it has to develop the social skills that will be required in the future by student for finding some jobs jobs skills and many much more things

Campus Life

Annual fest is SPLENDOR that is a three days long event in month of February or March. It includes various performances by college students and a celebrity night. Other events organised by different Societies including their own annual events and alumni talks (organised by departmental societies). Campus life is good with a decent crowd here. Library has plenty of books including course related books, competitive exams books and periodicals and journals. Daily supply of newspapers and magazines keep the library lively. Library resources are easily accessible to students. There is also a Kindle zone and free ebooks are also provided to students. Most of classrooms are spacious and well ventilated. All classrooms are well equipped with smart boards and projectors. College has labs upto BSL level 2. BSL level 1 for BSc students and BSL level 2 for PhD students. Labs have ample equipments to support practicals. Extracurricular activities are well supported by college administration. Societies are well funded. A variety of societies from art and drama to music, debating and cybersecurity are there providing a wide range of opportunities to students to explore and work on. Sports facilities are quite inadequate. One can't pursue practice on regular basis. All of societies are run by students. They can hold position of President, Vice President, Secratary and Joint Secratary. Each society is assigned a convenor for its smooth functioning and coordination. College has its own radio channel called radio TARANG 90.0 FM that is operational in 20km radius. It is fully run by students.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course is relevant particularly for future employment perspective. Be it food, pharma, medicine or environment , microbiologists are needed everywhere. Large scale opportunities are available both in India and abroad. I know few alumni doing internships in AIIMS Delhi, National Institute of Virology, Pune and a lot more prestigious institutes. Switching to other professions after Microbiology is equally beneficial. Several internship program are offered by college for industrial exposure. Direct placement for Microbiology is not there but after completing the undergraduate course one can have ample opportunities for MSc and PhD. Infact according to NEP 2020, students can directly go for PhD if they have completed 3 years of BSc + 1 year of research in their undergraduate program. Teaching methods are good and interactive. Mode of teaching is Hindi and English. Classroom learning is supplemented with lab work to make concepts more clear. Exams are easy to moderate and students can clear it with ease if they have paid attention in class. Scope of improvement - Time table is bit hectic that must be improved. Sometimes we have back to back classes without any gap. In long duration practicals you may need to sacrifice your lunch time in order to get the work done. There are no separate time alloted for (CRG) project, students have to work on class time or stay after college timings.

But also they don't classes sincerely.

Campus Life

Darjeeling government college was situated a nice place. It was situated on Darjeeling. Here's environment was awesome. College was looking beautiful. But college was not good as much other NBU's college , like Siliguri college. College's teachers are not responsible. They are irresponsible. For this reason college's NAAC grade was decreased bye B+ to B .

Faculty

We have six subjects in the first semester. The faculty students ratio is 1:40. There are friendly and eager to help. I don't have a favorite. They all are so kind to me. There are 2-3 asesament exams per semester. Also there are several projects, assignments all of them a total of 50 marks out of 100 including final practical and viva exam. The final theory exam carries 50 marks out of which 18 is the passing marks. For me the exam papers are moderate with a lot of hypothetical and research based questions.

Fees and Financial Aid

The course fee is 72000 per semester. The duration of the course is 4 years if you are opting for (hons) degree. The hostel fee per semester is 86700. I opted for double bed AC therefore the fee is 86700. There are many choices available according to your budget. There are scholarships available for different merits. I don't know much details about those. The fee is stable and not increasing.

Rhe faculty-to-student ratio is descent. The students can approach the faculty at their designated cabin in the staff room. The faculty is so helpful and always ready to solve students problem. I love my HOD so much . She is really kind and soft spoken. I needed her help quite a few times and she is really great. Also I don't have a faculty who is not great. I like everyone for what they're doing. There are 2 sessional and 1 university exam in a year.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise fees is as follows. The first year fees is 94000 which includes dress charges. Second year fees is 85000 Indian rupees. Third year fees is 85000 Indian rupees. The above mentioned fees is the whole fees there is not extra charges or any development charges. But 2100 rupees was charged for the registration at the time of admission only. There is no different fees every category has the same fees for my course.

We also have annual sports day on the month of January. The library is big we also have our departmental library. We can get PYQs from both the libraries. There are many clubs in the college like nature club, NSS, Women cell, AICUf these clubs organised many events for the students like tree plantation drive, awareness of school students on good and bad touch, Indigenous day celebration etc

Faculty

Our department always got the same number of students around 20 and less than 30. So there are 3 students as recently a teacher left and along with a lab assistant we have 4 teachers. The Hod is really good he teaches very nice and the way they interact not leaving a single person is really commendable. Before semester exam we have a internal exam as a replica of semester to understand yourself and the question pattern.

Ques. Which one is better for a BSc in microbiology Ram Lal Anand College or Swami Shraddhanand College?

● Top Answer By Veena Dutta on 04 Oct 21

Ans. The better choice would definitely be Ram Lal Anand College after what I have learned from my friends studying there. The campus might not be as extravagant as other colleges, but if you want to study microbes, Ram Lal Anand College is the best choice. The reasons to choose this college over Swami Shraddhanand College are as follows: The best microbiology course offered by Delhi University. It is a really underrated college. Thus you may not hear about it in discussions. The students from this college have got their research papers printed in international papers. The faculty is highly experienced at the University of Delhi in Microbiology and they guide you at every single step of your course. Categories B.Sc. Microbiology at Ram Lal Anand College Swami Shraddhanand College Course Fee 36,465 36,225 Placement Percentage 60-75% - Highest CTC 16 LPA 12 LPA Average CTC 5 LPA 3.5 LPA So I would say Ram Lal Anand College over Swami Shraddhanand College any day. But ultimately it is your choice, make an informed decision and choose the one that satisfies your requirements.Read more

Ques. What is minimum marks to get bsc in microbiology in st. Xavier's autonomous college in kolkata? Is there any chance of getting admission with 60%?

● Top Answer By Rupkotha Banerjee on 28 Feb 22

Ans. The basic eligibility requirement for securing admission at St. Xavier’s College Kolkata is 60% aggregate marks, along with 60% marks in Biology and Chemistry separately.  The cutoff score is calculated by adding Aggregate percentage, Biology percentage, Chemistry percentage. The cutoff is calculated out of 300. If you are a CBSE/ISC student, having a score above 285 should get you a seat. For WBCHSE, a score of 275 should do. Cutoffs for other state boards are higher. Read more
