Course Curriculum Overview
one of the main reason i chose this subject was the interdisciplinary nature of the curriculum, which offers a balance of core subjects. the curriculum does a reasonably good job in preparing students for real world applications. Teaching methods can also be improved by integrating active lessons, multimedia tools and student led discussions, rather than simply realying on textbooks and monologue style reading. exams are conducted once a semester towards its end with addtional internal exams like tests, quizes, presentations sprinked within. the frequency is pretty managable but during crunch times it becomes a litlle difficult to manage all these subjects by themselves.
Internships Opportunities
Gargi College offers a great number of internship opportunities through its placement cell. Some of the companies that come with internship offers include EY, Bain and co, DE Shaw and many other. These opportunities are most abundant during semester breaks.
Placement Experience
Gargi, like most other delhi colleges, has a standard placement cell. Students become eligible for placements from the 5th semester onwards, but most requirements happen during the final year. The companies that visit are primarily ed tech based ventures or marketing, HR firms and sales firms. A few that have collaborated over the year has been EY, Decathlon, Urban Company, Deloitte and so on. in terms of packages, the highest that had been around 15-17lpa, and the average package is 4-5lpa. About 20-30% of the batch gets placed during placement interviews while many try to pursue other opportunities or off-campus venues.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fee is about 18000 around with GST and other taxes applied. We then have to pay 2100 in examination fee, other minor charges include departmental fees or society fees ranging from 200-2000. for sc/st students the fee is heavily subsidised and usually ranges between 16000 to 18000. Scholarship opportunities are present both internally and externally and are usually merit-based, ie, based on your CGPA or test scores.
Campus Life
Gargi has a well-equipped library that spans two floors with reading and study rooms available as well. It offers a wide variety of books, references, academic journals and e-resources. It is accessible throughout the day and especially helpful during exam time. The classrooms are mostly tech-enabled, having projectors and presentation screens, although a few older classrooms still rely on the trusty old whiteboard. wifi is accessible throughout the campus, including the library and the computer labs. Some departments also have dedicated lecture halls for guest lectures and presentations.
Admission
i applied to several other Delhi University colleges as well like lsr, miranda and hindu. i was initally thinking of shortlisting for ashoka or symbiosis, but i couldn't qualify for financial aid which made it financially inviable. at symbiosis i cleared the written exam but wasn't fully clear about the circulum or the student culture. The admission process was fairly simple in my opinion i gave the CUET and filled in my preferance list, my scores were pretty comfortable for clearing the cutoff, though I did not aplly under any reservation category. the process was smooth overall, everything was done throught the samarth portal online and very eaisly.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio at our college is fairly balanced, allowing for personalised attention for students in most departments. most professors are approachable, supportive and open to discussion both inside and outside the classroom; they are greatly willing to help students with academic doubts, guidance, and even provide informal mentorship when needed. Among my department faculty, i like Dr Rekha Gupta who teaches microbiology, her classes are engaging, well-structured and very knowledgeable. similarly dr. anita kapila would probably be one of the best teachers in our college itself while most of them are pretty nice there is one prof.k who's teaching style doesn't resonate well for examples she like inactive teaching methods, talking down to students and sitting back and letting students do most of the work. there is only one end sem exam which is fairly average to above average, according to me. The difficulty level also depends on your course. Most of the students pass the exams maybe 7-8% fail. The course curriculum is very fair and relevant to current industry demands
Night Life
Since Gargi College does not have its own hostel most students like in shared flats or pgs in nearby areas like GK or green park etc, which are genrally safe, well connected and student friendly. while the college closes by 5:30 pm the city comes alive post classes. the college campus doens't support traditional night life but students often headout to hangout in spots are gk1 market or nblock market most visiting eateries like big chill or social in huaz khas. while there are no gym equpiment in college most pg are situated in localites with gyms and we have siri fort sports complex nearby. the locality is relatively safe, especially in early evening that said most pgs inforce timing of 9:30-10:00pm .
Other Applied Colleges
sym | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
I didn't opt for this college because the fee ended up being too much and my parents were not okay with the idea of me moving from delhi to pune. B.Tech CS in general didn't interest me enough to actively wanting to pursue it as a degree and latter build
