Course Curriculum Overview

3

The syllabus is highly industry oriented which helps the students to get a real life view of how the Microbes affect our day to day life. As of now, no imporovement is required other than conducting classes Regularly. Exams are tough, and paper is set centrally by the University of Calcutta.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearwise fees is around Rs. 22000 p.a.. In the first year, the admission fees is around 17000 (inclusive of the Sem 1 fees) and after that, each sem was around Rs. 10k-11k maximum. Other than that, students with financial crisis used to get concession on showing necessary proof to the TIC. Scholarship facilities available like SVMCM, INSPIRE, K2.

Campus Life

4

The annual fest Nexus is held in the month of December every year. It's a 4 day event where on the last day, we have an amazing guest performance. Annual sports is also done in the winter season where both staffs and students take part. Quiz and Drama Club is active part of the college.

Admission

I applied to many colleges under CU like Asutosh, VJRC, Scottish but what made me choose this college is, the faculty, which is very friendly. Secondly, there's nearly no politics in this college. We had a students union which always helped the students. To be eligible for the course... one should have passed class 12 with Bio-Science and scored atleast 60% marks. Admission is done in the month of Aug (approx).

Faculty

5

There are 4 faculty in Microbiology and the number of students is around 35. The CBCS curriculam made us do Microbiology during our Honours and in Pass subjects, we had Chemistry and Zoology/Physiology. Exam is conducted semester wise and you need to get atleast 30% in each paper in every part, to get a pass certificate. Total 6 semester in 3 years.

Night Life

5

No gym is present but a huge library is present in the college with over all the books required by us during the entire course. Not only for our course but books were available for every possible course in our college which was very helpful. The timing of our college was 10 am to 5 pm. No hostel facility available. Safe place to roam after sunset

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum in this college is uoto date, very relevant and with at par with the real world scenario, we learn about disorders, different schools of psychology and a lot more. There is a perfect balance of practical and theory, which is needed in psychology. In terms of improvement, there is always room for it, as of now there arent any suggestions from my side. The frequency of exams are fine, they give us time to prepare however I feel like as, according to the NEP, the semesters should be 6 months long but here they are cutting it short.
