Ques. What is different about Miranda House from other colleges in the University of Delhi?

Ans. Miranda House is known as one of the best women's colleges in India, partly because of the diverse and balanced academic and cultural environment it provides. In contrast to several other institutions, Miranda House puts a great emphasis on gaining academic knowledge which, dormant alongside the rigorous research, innovation, and social outreach, is attained through its wide plethora of societies, add-on certificate courses, and its interdisciplinary model. The consistent performance of the Institute with ranks #1 and #2 in NIRF is a testimony to its quality of teaching and research on a national level.

Ques. What is the student life like and what are the extracurricular activities offered at Miranda House?

Ans. Miranda House has an energetic student life with over a dozen societies and clubs in dance, drama, debating, and even entrepreneurial and environmental activities. Other prominent societies like Northeast Cell, Gandhi Study Circle, and Women Development Cell assist students in gaining social awareness and leadership. These clubs not only add value to the students’ resumes, but also instill confidence, effective communication and collaboration skills, and most importantly, the ability to manage academic pressure with creative outlets.

Ques. What types of research and innovative activities are available at Miranda House?

Ans: From the very beginning, students of Miranda House have a chance to engage in research and analytical work. Various departments facilitate engaging students in research activities with faculty members, internships, and practical work. Students with a truly innovative mindset engage in synthesis activities with the help of specialized add-on programs such as Data Science and Medical Biotechnology.

Ques. Is there support for entrepreneurship or a start-up culture in the House of Miranda?

Ans: Yes, there is. The House of Miranda has its own Entrepreneurship Cell E-Cell which helps students with the requisite resources and mentoring for start-up initiatives. Students are regularly invited to participate in workshops for innovation, networking with business leaders, and pitch presentation competitions. Consequently, academic activities as well as entrepreneurial pursuits thrive in the House of Miranda.

Ques. What are the mechanisms through which a place like Miranda House helps keep a campus diverse and inclusive?

Ans. As one of the premier Women’s Colleges, Miranda House ensures that difficult economic conditions do not hinder the girl child coming for higher education. There are also specific mechanisms to support students from the deprived sections through fellowship, remedial classes and peer-mentoring. Societies such as the EOC and NEC promote inclusiveness in cultural and academic activities.

Miranda House Diaries

Student view on course curriculum

The curriculum in Delhi University is pretty diverse and focuses on holistic development of a student. All the colleges of Delhi University follow same curriculum. In addition to core subjects there are skill enhancement courses and value addition courses as well for the overall development of students. It prepares one for the real world applications. Exams and assessment are done on a regular basis with a average difficulty level.

Top companies providing internship and stipend

Name of companies and roles offered under internships with stipend:- 1. Company - ABP network Role - Management trainee Stipend - 4 LPA for ug and 5 LPA for pg 2. Company - Frankfinn Role - Telecaller and tele counceller Stipend - monetary perks based on profile 3. Company - Zomato Role - Associate customer experience Stipend - 4 LPA 4. Company - Delhi walks Role - walk leader Stipend - 3.5 to 6 LPA 5. Company - Delta X Role - Product analysis Stipend - 10 LPA

Top company recruiting from the campus , average and highest package

The students become eligible for a placement after 5th semester. There is a placement cell in college which provides a lot of placement opportunities. Many prestigious companies like ABP news, Frankfinn, delta x, finoak, ginger partners, blue ocean, cry India, zomato etc come for placement drives in college. The highest package is 15 lakhs and average is 4 lakhs. My plans after the degree is to prepare for competitive exams.

Total course fees and provided scholarship

The fees in miranda house for all the courses is much affordable as compared to other colleges of Delhi University. I paid Rs. 14980 for my first year in college for the course BA Multidisciplinary ( Eco + Pol Science). The fees is same for all the categories. In second year I paid Rs. 13650 as the annual course fees which was less than last year. It includes tution fees, registration fees, development fees etc. No extra charges are taken throughout the year. All my batchmates from my course have the same fees and the fees of other courses like political science honours is just slightly high. There are also scholarships available for students coming from underprivileged financial backgrounds.

Annual fest and various activity in the campus

The name of annual fest of Miranda house college is tempest. In addition different societies organise their own fests as well. They are typically held in march to April. There are thousands of books available in libraries plus lakhs of e books. The classrooms have a good infrastructure with air conditioners and smart electronic boards for a better learning experience. Sports department is also very active in the college which organises various tournaments from time to time. There is a basketball court, tennis court and a sports ground in the college. There are various societies and clubs in the college which are very much active and contribute in holistic development of students.

Student views on the faculty

The faculty to student ratio is pretty good. Its like 1 professor for 200 students. But for some courses like political science honours tre faculty ratio is sometimes problematic which causes problems for the students. In case of assessment, regular internal and continuous assessment is taken by the faculty in almost all the courses.

Admission process of the college

My first preference was to get admission in miranda house college of Delhi University. It has been ranked 1 from past seven years in nirf rankings. I didn't get rejection from other colleges where I applied but my score was pretty good to get admission in college of my choice. I applied to other colleges like Hindu college, lady shree ram college, st stephen's college and many other colleges of Delhi University. The admission process in my college is based on the marks one scores in cuet exam conducted by national testing agency.

My first choice was Philosophy Miranda for DU. I applied to Dr. B.R. I wish I had any other course as my first preference atleast. The college itself isnt bad, the faculty and curriculum is. Miranda is a beautiful and calm college. Admission:

My Cuet score was 799.64, so I technically would have gotten into all colleges I applied for, like Hindu, St Stephens etc. My prefered courses were history, political science and english hons. The cut off varies a lot for different categories and for different courses. I chose Miranda because it was almost my dream college. NIRF Rank 1 (at that time), pretty campus, good reputation, alumni, and it being an all girls' college were my reasons to choose it over others. In cuet i appeared for history, political science, economics, and english.

Admission:

While I did apply to Christ University in Bangalore and Symbiosis at Pune, they were just my backups, and I did not really study for their entrance exam or interviews. I was confident in my ability to get into a high-ranking DU college, which was my aim, and I succeeded. I got a confirmed admission from Christ, but I preferred DU over Christ University because of a lot of factors, one of the major ones being my residence in Delhi. I preferred to stay in Delhi itself for graduation and move abroad for my higher studies. The admission for DU is more or less the same for all affiliated colleges, except in some instances, such as in St.Stephens College, where students under the Christian quota are required to give an interview. The admission to DU is done through the CUET exam, wherein you are required to give 4-5 papers depending on the preferred course. English honors required 3 subjects I studied in school, along with English, as the additional 4th subject. The cutoff for the general category ranges over 750 out of 800 for English.

  • Choose the application link as per the programme of your choice i.e UG admission portal/ PG admission portal.
  • Thereafter, click on the new registration button.
  • Then, fill in the registration form with the required personal/ basic details.
  • OTP is verified thereafter.
  • Then, candidates need to login with the registered Id and password.
  • Start filling the application form.
  • Then, upload a photo, signature and proof of the last exam qualification.
