I get swami vivekananda merit cum scholarship which is very helpful for me.
Placements the placement for computer science and technology department is really appreciable and since it is a college of national importance, some really highy package giving companies come for placements and take a good handful number of student.
Campus is very green and lovely. you would surely love the experience.

Dislikes

The hostel facility is horrible in our college we don't have many single seater rooms there were very limited which intern causes disputes among students and the food facility was also not good it's really very hard
Actually hostel facilities is not good in indian institute of enginnering science and technology the maintainnace is poor and my college is in west bengal, shibpur and for me i dont like bengal food as i am from andhra pradesh.
The hostels are a bit bad in condition. one has to face some problems regarding stay.

there are security gards all over the college to help you, clean and nature involved campus.
loved the seniors, they are very friendly
like the trees and the location of he campus

Dislikes

electrical department is a bit tough and difficult to study
the campus is not too much big considered to other campuses but decent size
6 months internship is bit difficult to get

students are eligible for placements from the 4th year oy 7th semester and companies like google , microsoft , apple, wipro, tcs , adobe visits here. highest placement is about 2 cr which is off campus and lowest is about 3.5 lpa which is in tcs ninja i guess. about 89% of students gets placed in my cse department and i am going to take placement after my college get over .

Review of a 1st year South Indian student on IIEST SHIBPUR

I really liked the greenery in my college.It has a lot of trees which will be pollution free with fresh air.
The availability of shops and stores are just outside the campus,which make us easy to get the things we want.
It is near to Kolkata, and it is easy to catch the flight also abot 1 km to railway station.

Dislikes

As I am from South India it is somewhat tough to adjust to food,but its good to adjust.
Campus is very clean but outside the campus the roads not maintained.

Placement Experience:

The placements are quite good in our college,but for that student have to work hard alot . Many companies visit our campus from various places.My plan after getting degree is to write GATE and to join in DRDO to serve the nation.

Life at IIEST, Shibpur

The campus is very green and clean. You wouldn't feel the kolkata heat much because the campus lies along the bank of river Ganges.
Hostel is spacious. Although being 4 sharing in first and second year the room is quite spacious and another perk is that you would make friends easily. Hostel life at IIEST is crazy fun.
The community is nice. Everyone is friendly and you will make good friends and the environment is good and not toxic.

Dislikes

Because of the greenery mosquitos and other insects will also be roommates to you.
Because of so much friendship in the hostel you may find small stuff (like scissors, tape, glue stick, pen etc.) missing from your table. (Someone takes them without informing you and forgets to return)
Seniors may be annoying at first but become cazz as the time passes and you spend more time with them.

Placement Experience:

From the 7th semester students become eligible for campus placements. There are companies making offers to every department. The average placement percentage is 80% per department. The highest package is 51LPA and the average package is 11LPA. After getting a degree you will have an opportunity to go abroad (Say MS in US) because of the vast alumni network.

Fests are very good here. Campus is filled with greenery
Professors are supportive. Academics is good here also.
Fees is very less as compared to other institutions

Little bit improvement is needed in hostels
Food can be improved. Water needs very much improvement
Campus is good but needs some infrastructure improvement

From fourth semester students are eligible for campus placements. A large no. Of companies visit our college for placements. They make offers on the basis of skills of students. The highest package was about 24 lakhs. About 70% of the students were placed in the year 2023. I also aim to get a good placement.

The teachers are well educated and they can explain all type of doubts. Aside for the teachers, we also have a library where we can find everything we need.
College life is good. There are all sort of activities you can do and the ambience is also good.
The seniors are very helpful. We are provided with every all the materials before hand.

Dislikes

The teachers usually cannot speak English properly. They sometimes start explaining in Bengali and then the non-Bengali students don't understand anything.
The infrastructures are a bit old but they are renovating some buildings.
There is no proper basketball court and very less space for badminton players.

Placement Experience:

From 6th semester students are eligible for campus placement. There are a lot of companies that visit. A few of them are Google, Amazon, etc. The highest package this year for on campus was 54 lakh and the average package is 7 lakh. Percentage of students getting placement is aroung 70%. After getting the degree I will be pursuing M.Tech.

Classes and facilities are also good and supportive
College follow a fixed curriculum every year which is also good

Dislikes

Hostel facility is not that much good and the food provided is also not good

Allumni network is very good and collage has rich culture heritage
Faculty and collage adademic are also very nice.all clubs like music ,dance ,robotics ,ches, coding, robotics,etc are very active
Placement of collage is very nice for department.people are getting placement in top companies like Google, Microsoft,etc every year

Dislikes

Campus size is 123 acres and infrastructure is needed to be more developed.
Sports facilities can be more better , there is only one court for volleyball and basketball.

Students become eligible from 7th semester for placement.about 524 offers given by 144 companies in 2024 .these companies also include top MNCs like Google , Microsoft,etc. Highest on campus placement is of 56 lkh to 7 students by Microsoft.

One of my friends is a final-year student at IIEST Shibpur. According to him, the placement last year has been great. Microsoft IDC (PPO), Mentor Graphics, CESC Ltd (PPO), Tata Steel (PPO), Bentley Systems completed their recruitment process on campus and hired more candidates than they did last year. Companies like Atlassian, Samsung R&D, and PwC are also expected to recruit on campus. A brief discussion about placements and other aspects of the institute are as follows.

Placements:

Pre-final year students got internship offers from various firms like Microsoft R&D, Deutsche Bank, Wells Fargo, and Texas Instruments this year. Other firms which will be having on-campus recruitment will most likely be hiring interns also. Hence, needless to mention that the placement scenario has continued its trend of improvement this year as well.
Students have been hired in companies like Microsoft IDC, Cognizant, Samsung R&D, Infosys, TCS Research and Innovation, Z. S. Associates, etc. from campus placements. Off-campus placements also include Google (Bangalore).
The median salary that has been offered is around 7 LPA and every one of the scholars participating in placements got placed. The placement cell improved and has become more proactive and efficient in training and placement of scholars.

Infrastructure:

All departments, libraries and hostels are Wi-Fi enabled with decent speeds. The Science and Technology Department features a 1Gigabit backbone network.
The rooms and labs are well maintained and have all the specified equipment. The central library is not extremely big but features a good assortment of useful titles. There are smaller departmental libraries also.
The hostels are decent and clean but might be improved. They need indoor game facilities also. A replacement hostel for women has just been built and features a far better review.
There are multiple canteens on Campus serving good quality food at reasonable rates and a CCD stall with significantly cheaper rates than usual.
Other amenities include Gymnasium, Sports fields, Court and Infirmary.

Faculty:

The college consists of highly qualified and knowledgeable teachers. They clear the doubts if consulted. Most teachers teach using both chalkboard and multimedia aids.
There are multiple teachers and other lab assistants to guide the students during the lab classes.
The course curriculum is aligned with most other national institutions and contains the essential topics necessary for the course.

The campus is lush green and located on the bank of the river Ganges. Right beside the institute is Botanical Gardens. Many events take place at the institute all year around. There are annual Techno-Management fest Instruo, Annual Cultural fests Rebecca and Anuranan, and departmental fests. Besides that, there are also sports events. Meritorious students can avail scholarships sponsored by the Alumni Association.
