IT at IIEST Shibpur can be good but you need to utilize the opportunities you get properly. The infrastructure at the institute is good. Microsoft also recruits students from campus placements. In the past students have bagged good internship opportunities. One of the students was accepted for Google California (Internship). Compared to the CSE, the IT branch is a little behind in terms of salary packages offered. However, this branch has good diversity. Faculties for CSE and IT branches are comparable and the IT department even has better faculty members for a few of the subjects. The main difference between CSE and IT is that IT is a sandwich branch of CST and Electronics. So, naturally, you will need to study some Electronics subjects too. For Communication Systems, the IT branch does not have decent faculties. Adding to that, the subject is also not that useful for the future. Despite that this subject eats a chunk of the time of IT students. Another difference is CST introduces important subjects like algorithms in the 2nd year itself. Whereas, IT introduces these topics one year later. Basically, the essence is the same for the two branches, there are some minor differences in curriculum and lab work. How you do in placements depends on your hard work.

The best BTech choice after IIT in West Bengal

Semester-wise fees is 68000 for general and OBC category with income over 5 lakhs. Students with income less than 5 lakhs get 2/3rd fee waiver. SC ST candidates and students with income less than 1 lakh get full fee waiver. There are various need based and merit based scholarships you can avail like GAABESU and DAAD.

My college

Fees I should paid in one year is 104000 if there is no tuition fee weiver . College provide tuition fee weiver on the basis of income certificate of family . We will get 100 percent tuition fee weiver if family income is less than 1 lakh . We will get 2/3 tuition fee weiver if family income is between 1 lakh to 5 lakh . No tuition fee weiver if family income is more than 5 lakh . Hostel fees is 51 thousand for one year and tuition fee is 42 thousand.

I liked the time table of my college. Most days we don't have college from 9 to 4, and we have holidays every Saturday and Sunday.
I appreciate my course structure. Professors in our department are very experienced. The average package of my course is 14 LPA.

For every person whose Annual income is more than 8 lakhs he has to pay the full course fees i.e. 1,36,000 and for people who have income between 1 lakh to 8 lakhs they have to pay nearly around 30,000 per semester that is around 60,000 per year. For students with income less than 1 lakh they have pay around 11000 per year. Ths is regardless of caste gender everything. For students who are from SC and ST community their fee is 11000 per year regardless of their income.

The fee structure of our college is Five lakh forty four thousand for four years. Our college provides us waiver too for the students. Till now I have received one of my scholarship from college that is the waiver.

iiest shibpur college review

There is no campus employment for b.tech students as such but then there are scholarship programs arranged by the passout students of the college which can help students get scholarships worth upto inr 100000. Also loan is available at a very low interest rate and making it easier for students to pursue their dreams. The tuition fee for a students from general category is approximately 75000 per sem which makes it 150000 per year. And since the last 4 years there hasn't been any significant increase in the tuition fees. For my case I had to give 600000 for 4 years and plus extra hostel and mess fees which is nearly 30k per semester, making it 600000 per year.
