03 Jun, 2025 IIEST Shibpur UG and PG Placement Report has been released for the 2025 pass-out batch (as of April 30, 2025). The Highest Package offered was INR 38.53 LPA. Further, the UG and PG students received over 502 and 34 job offers, respectively. For the detailed placement report, Click Here.

IIEST Shibpur concluded the 2022 placement drive with 516 placements. Among these students, 416 students were from the UG course, 1 student was from the Dual Degree course & 99 students were from the PG course. Students received 776 placement offers. The highest salary offered was INR 45 LPA which increased from INR 39 LPA in 2021.

students are eligible for placements from the 4th year oy 7th semester and companies like google , microsoft , apple, wipro, tcs , adobe visits here. highest placement is about 2 cr which is off campus and lowest is about 3.5 lpa which is in tcs ninja i guess. about 89% of students gets placed in my cse department and i am going to take placement after my college get over .

The best BTech choice after IIT in West Bengal

Placement Experience:

From 7th semester students start interviewing for campus placemnts. Around 200 companies visit our college that includes FAANGs like Google, Microsoft and Amazon. Many other Good companies like Wells Fargo, Texas Instruments, Deustche Bank, Goldman Sachs and many more recruit from our college. Highest package was 54 LPA and average was 17LPA. Aroud 93% CSE students got placed. I also wish to get placed. If not I will give GATE for PSUs.

However, from an independent perspective, the average salary is still at the bottom-line if you consider other tiers 2 colleges. There are certain reasons for it such as:

Recognition:

This is one of the major reasons for such placement stats. Almost nobody outside West Bengal knows that there is an Engineering college name IIEST Shibpur and the same happens with the recruiters as well. People might ask you such questions like where is your college located. Which is this college? Etc.

Alumni Network:

IIEST Shibpur does not have a very strong alumni base in the companies that can influence the companies to conduct any recruitment drive in the college.

Placement Cell:

Several companies recruit mechanical students from IIEST. Here is a list of them-

Core Companies- CESC, Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Auto, Tata power, Saint Gobain, MN Dastur, Hindustan Unilever, Vedanta Limited, Hyundai, DCPL, WSP, VikramSolar, TEGA Industries, Tata projects, Elegant Marine, Denso Haryana, Haldia Petrochemicals, Aditya Birla, Eleation, Tata bluScope, JSL, JSW, Britannia, Wood group, Daimler, Tata Steel, etc.
Consultancy firms- PwC, ZS, Capgemini, Zycus, etc.
Mass Recruiters- TCS, CGI, Nissan Digital, Infosys, Cognizant, Compro tech, Silfra tech, HCL, Aakash Institute, etc.

61 out of 75 eligible students from B.Tech ME were placed last year. As an ME student, you can’t expect a 7 figure salary through campus placements. Only a handful of companies offer 8 LPA or above. Mass recruiters offer less than 4 LPA.

The placements are decent for my branch at IIEST Shibpur. You can consult some seniors to know about the placements in other branches.

No, it is more or less the same as a bachelor's. Not just at IIEST Shibpur, the scenario of placements for Masters is more or less the same at every institute in India.

If you pursuing Masters then you should keep your aim straight to get a Company related to your branch or pursuing higher studies (Ph.D.) for the teaching line. B.Tech level hiring is more or less the same in M.Tech at the institute. There are some departments in M.Tech which have a moderate placement. The other departments do not offer good placement opportunities. But at IIEST Shibpur you will get the best learning opportunities.

At last, it is up to you only which field you are choosing. If you want a job then go for it with for B.Tech degree, If you want a purely technical job then go for a master's and if you want an academic line then go for further higher studies i.e. Ph.D. from abroad.

During the 2022 placement season, 68 out of 73 eligible students were placed from B.Tech CST (Computer Science and Technology). 104 offers were made, and 94 selection processes were held in total. In M.Tech CST, 10 out of 12 eligible students were placed. 15 offers were made, and 45 selection processes were held in total.

No data is available for the packages offered branch-wise. However, standard packages were offered to the selected candidates. The list of top recruiters who visited the campus includes- Microsoft IT India, Adobe, Microsoft IDC, Amazon India, Infosys Technologies, Tata Consultancy Services (Digital), and Tata Consultancy Services (Ninja) among others.

Microsoft and Google usually offer profiles like Associate Analyst and Data Analyst, instead of SDE. Many times, Directi and Amazon shortlist students but do not proceed further with the placements. Many times, Adobe is open only to female candidates.

The CST placements are decent, and the best among all departments. If you work hard enough and improve your coding skills, you’ll surely get placed at a decent package in some good brand.

IIEST, Shibpur formerly known as BESU is doing really well in all the departments. Whether it is about faculty or infrastructure it is growing steadily and gradually.

But as one wants to take a deeper look in comparing mechanical engineering, EE and ETC, let’s take a look on it:

The research facility of the mechanical engineering department is quite decent and comparable with EE and ETC.
It is even better at some aspects like it has research collaboration with some of the renowned foreign universities, some of the excellent facilities etc.
When IIEST, Shibpur was known as BESU even then the mechanical engineering was considered to be the highest ranking department in one of these three departments.
Also, one cannot forget to boast of tremendous alumni including a couple of directors of IITs.

When it comes to placement, the mechanical engineering department has a decent placement record so far.
ME and EE have almost equal numbers of core placements. And ETC has less core placements but the highest package is grabbed by ETC itself.
The placement for mechanical engineering is really good though. Core companies such as Maruti Suzuki, CESC, Vedanta, coal India, Tata steel, Bridge and Roof, L&T, elegant marine services come on campus.
So you can easily expect a very bright future of mechanical engineering graduates from IIEST SHIBPUR.
After becoming an IIEST the placements have improved and after 5 years it will improve more.
IIEST, Shibpur has always been known for its excellent core teachings. Also, it has one of the best and oldest labs in the country in EE and Mech which has been improved from time to time.

The college is very good for students interested in any of the three departments as mentioned. All the three mentioned departments are very good in IIEST. The thing that matters is your interest and will.

During IIEST Shibpur Placements 2022, 416 UG(Btech course) students, 99 PG students & 1 Dual Degree student were placed. UG students received 635 offers, PG students received 140 offers & Dual Degree students received 1 placement offer. The highest salary package offered in the year 2022 was 45 LPA offered by Microsoft (PRO). The soft engineering departments also got the highest salary package in the previous year.
