Admission:

i applied for nit jaipur, surat, kurukshetra, allahbad and nagpur. i wanted to stay near my home or at a distace so i can go home in 3 to 6 hours of train. i didnt got that collage because of poor methods of counselling in jossa which changed almost my wwhole future. admission process was very simple with many people sitting their to help even if youu have any problem you can contact them and also delay the document registration. the fee payment was very smoth avijeet benerjee sir who handle all this have all the knowledge about fee payment and other acadmic issues if you need any help regarding anythhing you can contact him he will definatly help you. the admission was done through jee and gate and the cutoff data is already in collage dunia portal. over all the experiance was 8|10

IIEST is International standard college!!

Admission:

IIT obviously and that was the reason I gave JEE but I was getting IIT BHU and also IIEST, so it was on me to reject the one I want. I opted IIEST for several reasons and two of the prominent ones were that I couldn't get top IITs and secondly IIEST is in my state.

Review of a 1st year South Indian student on IIEST SHIBPUR

Admission:

I applied to other private colleges like LPU,Amritha, VIT also got seat in CSE but I didn't opt them because of the fee. In IIEST,I have fee waiver and the total expences for my course including other expenced it will be about maximum 1,00,000 including flight tickets everything,but in those colleges fee is comparitively alot.

Before this college and this branch i got iiit sonepat-cse,nit calicut-civil,nit kurukshetra production engineering.but i choose this college and this branch because this is the best option for my rank regading placement,nirf,fees structure etc. To get admission in our college the student shouls attens JEE and should secure good marks. cutoff may be different for each year.

Life at IIEST, Shibpur

Admission:

You can get into IIEST through JOSAA and CSAB counselling from you JEE mains rank. You can also get into IIEST through DASA. There is state reservation for West Bengal students. The college has good laboratories so if you want to be in the research field while having a placement in backup then IIEST is a good option.

I choose this college because I had only one option which was this college. But i got wrong branch due to my mistake in choice filling. I was not alloted any seat in other institutions. My rank was not good to make it to other colleges. Admission is provided on the basis of jee mains rank and seat is alloted on the basis of josaa counselling. The most preffered exam by students is JEE Mains

IIEST ROCKS

Admission:

I did not apply for any other college. I applied for colleges in josaa and the ones which were above IIEST, I considered few of them better and few due to NIRF ranking. The admission process if very simple. One will have to give jee after that they will have to apply for josaa counselling. If they have good enough rank, and they get any branch then they will be have to come to the college on the date specified by the college on their website. The cutoff for general category is usually high. All branches close at around 70k rank(in josaa counselling). In CSAB, they might extend to 1 lakh.

What are the points that a student knows before taking admission to IIEST Shibpur?

The first thing that you should note is that IIEST offers a dual degree program. It's a 5-year M.Tech program and not the conventional 4-year program.

Be clear of what your goals are and choose your friend circle according to it. For Example, if you love programming then find a senior who is doing coding and learn from his experience.
Make it clear in your mind that CGPA matters the most. It is not easy to score marks in Shibpur and hence you have to study a lot.
Be a team player. There are so many societies in the college and you SHOULD join them. This would make you aware of what's happening around you, help you build connections.
Don't be worried about Ragging, It doesn't exist.
Studies are not that easy and lectures are sometimes boring but you have to self-study and also manage time for honing your skills.
Shibpur is not as famous across the nation as it is in West Bengal.
It's the 2nd oldest college in the nation and hence has a vast alumni network.
Upon becoming IIEST, the vibes in the college would change completely. There would be more budget for everything and confidence fo student would also increase. The quality of education would increase
Placement opportunities at IIEST are not that great but the situation should improve in the near future.

Don't lose focus, try to stay motivated and find like-minded people.

Is 225 marks in JEE main sufficient for getting admission in IIEST Shibpur in electrical?

A senior of mine has told me that a score of 225 would be more than enough for getting admission in electrical in IIEST Shibpur. The admission criteria are the same for applicants belonging to the home state (West Bengal) or from any other state. With that score, you can also get CST and ECE with ease.

You can also compare trying to solve the paper for the previous years for getting acquainted with the pattern. Difficulty of the exams also somewhat determines admission, especially when cutoffs change every year. According to the cutoff trends of recent years, a score of 225 should be enough to secure admission.

Is it possible to get an admission in Jadavpur University or IIEST Shibpur with a 3,300 WBJEE rank?

In general, IIEST accepts admissions based on the JEE Main only. It does not accept WBJEE entrance exam scores and rankings. However, Jadavpur University accepts the WBJEE exam. So, if you scored 3,300 WBJEE rank. Then, you can apply for Jadavpur University.

Jadavpur University offers several engineering courses under the UG level and the college accepts WBJEE scores for admission. However, IIEST accepts only based on the JEE Main.

Cutoff for Jadavpur University:

Jadavpur University has a different cut-off ranking for various courses based on the category that you belong to. If you belong to the general category, then you might not get a seat in any of the engineering courses with the above ranking.

Usually, general category students should get at least 1000 or below 1000 rankings to enroll in Jadavpur University. If you belong to any other category, then you may get a seat in either ECE, production engineering, electrical, mechanical, metallurgical, or any other engineering program.

Yes, they do conduct tests but it all depends upon which program you are choosing.

For getting admission for B.Tetch and Architecture course, the college accepts scores of JEE mains.
For MTech admission, they accept scores of GATE and for MS they accept scores of IIT JAM.
The college conducts admission tests for only M.sc and Ph.D. programs.

Yes, IIEST is a CFTI and is analogous to NIT. Keeping in mind, the funding, academics, infrastructure and colllege facilities, as well as Josaa counselling, it is regarded as NIT only.
