IT from IIEST Shibpur is a better choice than EC from SVNIT Surat. Both my classmates and I agree to the fact that IIEST Shibpur is a much better institute than SVNIT. The reasons for the same are given below – It is a common observation that many of the EC engineering graduates eventually work as software engineers, which is not their core domain. IT is very close to CSE in terms of coding and related works. You will definitely learn more in IT rather than EC even if you are interested in software. If you want you can learn software development and coding on your own, then go for the EC branch of SVNIT. But that will require a lot of effort, time management, and discipline. IT at IIEST, Shibpur will also give a mental satisfaction that you are working in the same field as intended while in EC at SVNIT you will probably have to join a job that is not related to your core EC subjects. Even if you are passionate about EC, the faculty in this department at SVNIT are not very good. They are too young for the job. Of course, there will be seniors and various clubs to help you out but faculty are at the core of any teaching system. IT at IIEST Shibpur can be good but you need to utilize the opportunities you get properly. The infrastructure at the institute is good. Microsoft also recruits students from campus placements. In the past students have bagged good internship opportunities. One of the students was accepted for Google California (Internship). Compared to the CSE, the IT branch is a little behind in terms of salary packages offered. However, this branch has good diversity. Faculties for CSE and IT branches are comparable and the IT department even has better faculty members for a few of the subjects. The main difference between CSE and IT is that IT is a sandwich branch of CST and Electronics. So, naturally, you will need to study some Electronics subjects too. For Communication Systems, the IT branch does not have decent faculties. Adding to that, the subject is also not that useful for the future. Despite that this subject eats a chunk of the time of IT students. Another difference is CST introduces important subjects like algorithms in the 2nd year itself. Whereas, IT introduces these topics one year later. Basically, the essence is the same for the two branches, there are some minor differences in curriculum and lab work. How you do in placements depends on your hard work.

This college is good.our college is full of trees and greenary.we have to pay 21,000 per semester and this is the tution fees.and at the time of admission we have to pay 4000.and there are some extra fees for some other external fees.and we have to pay examination fees 1000 per semester .this fees structure is for EWS student and the students who have income less than 1 lakh per year have 100%fee waiver.

firstly my fee for first year is following Tution fee is for a semester 62500,addmission fee is 500,registration fee is 1000,other charges 5000,caution deposit 3000. And now for the students whose income is less than 1 lakh,they will get 100% schlorship in tution fee,and whose income is greater than 1 lakh and less than 5 lakh,they will get 2/3rd scholarship. For category students(SC/ST) they don't need to pay tution fee.

I liked the fee structure too being affordable and feasible for many and people being considerate, like they really try to help and motivate. The campus has good social interactions and there are many clubs for students.

All the years we need to pay same fees based on your yearly income and Reservation Quota. They provide two-third waivers to those whose annual income is less than 5,00,000 and Full Waiver to those whose annual income is less than 1,00,000. These waivers are only applicable for Tuition fees and everything is included in it Lab fees, Registration fees. Mine is in two-third waiver which is I need to pay 26,333 each semester and others with Quota(SC,ST) or less than 1,00,000 need to pay 5500 each semester, rest without any waiver need to ay 68,000. Also, there is annual Alumni Scholarship Awards, Gaabesu which includes both for Academics and Research. The Hostel fee is compulsory near about 50,000 for two semesters.

You will be paying 201000 rupees per year if you are a general/OBC category student having annual family income more than 500000. 2/3rd tuition fee waiver is given to those having family income less than 500000. Full tuition fee waiver is given to SC, ST and PwD candidates irrespective of income. Hostel maintainance fees is 4000 and mess charges 17500. Rupees 3000 is taken as caution money every semester. GAABESU alumni scholarship provided to students need based. But You have to pay fees of one student after you start earning.
