I have a few friends at IIEST and based on what I heard I can say that conclusive developments are taking place at IIEST Shibpur for the CSE course. Projects under the supervision of esteemed faculty were introduced in the second year. The curriculum has been improved to become one of the best in India.

There was no competitive programming pattern in BESU/IIEST until recently. But many students have taken competitive programming platforms such as Codechef and HackerRank over the last few years.

Lastly, don't support the myth that the only way to prove yourself as a coder is competitive programming. There are other coding fields as well.
