My JEE rank is 600. Should I go for electrical at IIT Kanpur or CS at IIT Roorkee?

I think that you should choose EE at IIT Kanpur over CSE at IIT Roorkee because of the following reasons:- Taking EE in Kanpur is more advantageous than CSE in Roorkee due to higher placement percentages and more flexible academics, which helps to let you develop yourself more. Electrical engineering provides you with opportunities in both the public and private sectors. The best aspect is that if you later discover you have no interest in EE, you can always move to Software Engineering.

Which is better, Kanpur civil or IIT BHU electrical?

Both IIT BHU and IIT Kanpur are one of the best and oldest institutes in India. But according to me IIT Kanpur is better than IIT BHU here are some reasons: IIT Kanpur generally ranks higher than IIT BHU in the NIRF rankings. As of the most recent rankings IIT Kanpur is usually within the top 5 engineering institutes in India and IIT BHU typically ranks between 10 to 15. Both IIT Kanpur and IIT BHU have excellent placement records. Electrical Engineering at IIT BHU has placement records with an average CTC is 18 lakh whereas Civil Engineering at IIT Kanpur also has strong placement statistics with an average CTC is 22 lakh. When it comes to research education and course curriculum IIT Kanpur is better than IIT BHU. Considering the above points I could say go for IIT Kanpur over IIT BHU. Although, it depends on personal choice.

Fees and Financial Aid:

There is availability of scholarships and financial assistance for economically challenged students. But without scholarship, the tuition fee is 1 lac per semester. This excludes the Mess Establishment Charge and Mess bill which comes to be more than 25k per semester.

Tradition and customs of IIT KANPUR

Cost of fees is about 1lakh 16 thousand including mec charges Library charges,water charges, electricity charges etc. Yeah there are some scholarship based on family income like MCM. Due to recession the employment is reduced as compared to previous years andcompany afraid to select more people due to recession.

experience of an "IIT"

the complete four year degree will cost you around 12 lac rupees but if you are not able to afford this fee there are a lot of schlorships which will help you . in short you will never face that you are not able study beacuse of the fee charged ,almost a hundred ddiffrent schlorships are offered targetting every student in need .

Great academic flexibility, you can choose courses according to your interests.

Dislikes

Things become hectic as course curriculum is very tough.

Tuition fee is 1 lakh per semester. If you avail no scholarship then your whole 4 years of college may cost you around 12 lakhs . However there are many good scholarships available both private and govt which help a lot.

My first year stay in IIT Kanpur

Engineering graphics and ethics type of irrelevant courses

Tution fees was 80000 in 2016 and then after the meeting of IIT the fees revised to 200000 which is around 200%. There is no policy of fees increment. There is one scholarship named MCM where top 25% of college will receive 12000 per year along with tution fee waiver. I don't have any idea for 3rd question

Collage Review of IIT Kanpur

Tution fee is rupees 1 lakh per semester, i.e 2 lakh per year. IITK gives MCM(Merit CUM Means) scholarship to students whose family income is below 5 lakh rupees and have the cpi above 6.5, provided they did'nt have any backlogs in previous 2 semesters. With the help of this scholarship tution fees is completely waived off.

IIT Kanpur- A rough idea before taking admission

I like some of the courses taught here like Machine learning.

I dislike the how grade in a course severally depends on the mood of professor.
I dislike the number of classes held each day.
I dislike the kind of academic present in the air of iit kanpur which makes life pretty hectic.

The fees of our college is 1 lakh 36 thousand. This constitutes the tuition fee, examination fee, gymkhana fee and mess establishment charge. We need to pay mess fee separately for each semester which is roughly 16 thousands. There are several scholarships available which makes our study here affordable

Too many labs which make schedule hectic.
The academics are tough and no gaps inbetween

The college provides scholarships to reserved students obc sc st etc. They also provide mcm scholerships and scholarships to those who secure good marks. Rest people have to pay full fee of 117000 per sem.

A overall review of IIT Kanpur

I like some of the courses taught here which has application in our life.

The exam in our college is very hectic as we get very less time to study
The grading of courses are totally dependent on professor.

The total fee per semester of IIT Kanpur is 1 Lakh 30 thousand. This fee can be broken down into two components. One lakh goes to the tuition fee and the remaining goes to the hostel fee. There are several scholarship opportunities available that one may avail.

There are several irrelevant courses which I don't find any use.
