Course Curriculum Overview
Most of the courses in my stream are relevant if any of us had to opt higher studies in that particular stream. The first two semester courses are common for every branch. From 3rd semester onwards, we study courses related to our specific branch.
Internships Opportunities
Many companies come to our college to hire interns. Some of the companies are really high paying. Quant companies are the ones which are mostly high paying like Optiver, WorldQuant, Tower Research. Software and Consulting companies tend to give 1-2 lacs per month.
Placement Experience
The placement of our college is very good. Many companies in the domain of sofware, quant, consulting come to our college. The average package of our college is 15 lakhs.Most of the students who sit in the placement process get placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fee per semester of IIT Kanpur is 1 Lakh 30 thousand. This fee can be broken down into two components. One lakh goes to the tuition fee and the remaining goes to the hostel fee. There are several scholarship opportunities available that one may avail.
Campus Life
There are several hobby clubs available for our interest. These are the programming club, finance club, astronomy club, etc. There are three annual festivals which are held every year. These are Antaragni, Techkriti and Udghosh. They are held in October, March and November respectively.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facility is nice. In the first two years, we get to live in double and triple sharing accomadation. From the third year onwards we get single occupancy rooms. The mess food is nice. We are served three meals everyday. The quality of food is upto the mark.
Admission
The admission process involved was two fold. The first part involved appearing in JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. After clearing these exams, I had to take part in jossa counselling process. In this process, I was alloted electrical engineering in IIT Kanpur.
