Collage Review of IIT Kanpur

I would rate Electrical Engineering here to be 9/10. I Chose this, since I found the course curriculum to be very interesting during my JEE counselling and. There are many opportunities for doing research and higher studies in electrical engineering from here.

Almost all Product based companies like Amazon, Adobe, Microsoft, Flipkart etc. hire from IIT kanpur and many HFTs also hire from here like Tower Research, Optiver, quantbox etc. For core roles also many companies hire stdents from IIT kanpur.

Due to recession Placements are not that good this year. But things will improve in future. Students usually pursue higher education or do Mtech in their own department and usually almost everyone gets placement here unless and until you opt for higher education.

Tution fee is rupees 1 lakh per semester, i.e 2 lakh per year. IITK gives MCM(Merit CUM Means) scholarship to students whose family income is below 5 lakh rupees and have the cpi above 6.5, provided they did'nt have any backlogs in previous 2 semesters. With the help of this scholarship tution fees is completely waived off.

IIT kanpur have about 1000 acre campus. College life is quite vibrant here. IITK's annual cultural fest Antaragni have a footfall around 30,000 and it is considered one of Asia's largest cultural fest.

UG freshers currently live in a different hall, usually with double or triple sharing rooms in second year their hall is changed. In some halls in 3rd Ugs get single rooms too. In 4th year almost everyone get single rooms.I live in Hall 5 and meal quality here is good.

Admission process for pursuing Btech in Electrical Engineering requires cracking JEE Advanced examination. Closing CRL for General category students was around 1300, for EWS category students around 2900 , for OBC category students it was around 3900.
