Overall I felt faculties are good and supportive in Mechanical department atleast. I can't say about other departments. There are many good faculties like Ranjith M, Anish S, Gnanasekaran etc. Coming to the exams, we have two exams per semester. Mid sem and End sem. Mid sem will be of 50 marks while End sem will be of 100 marks. Grading is relative. In MTech thermal we had 18 students and everyone had passed. The lowest CGPA was 6.2 around.

See the ratio is around 80:1 however every faculty is good and they have a excellent career with each and every one are doctorate teachers but teaching is somewhat good. The academics is very stressful where students run after CGPA and credits for the degree requirements but the question paper are very different and difficult. There are quizzes, mid sem , end sem, assignments etc .

We have major 4 exams in one sem. 2 Quizzes, one mid-sem, one end-sem. The scaled weightage for end-sem is the highest and the comes mid-sem and finally quizzes. For some courses we also have Assigments, Group Activities, etc (it also depends on the faculty of the on-going course). Exams levels are from moderate to tough. The number of students who fail from per class is actually very less ( may be less than 6-7 per class). All the faculities completed their PHD or Higher studies form a well known reputed institutes.

usually 1-2 profs take classes. they last for 55 min. class timing are from 8 to 12 with a 5 min break in between. we have a 15 min break from 9:50 to 10:05. we have a class slot from 1-2. and lab usually from 2-5 (some branches have classes). these are the slots and u will have around 4 hrs of class a day(maybe less or more). most courses are chill with attendance. usually there is 0-2 quizzes, 1 mid semester evaluation and and end semester evaluation(40-50% weightage.) faculties can be seen in the college site. some notable proffesors in ECE department are Sumam David, T. Lakshmanidhi. All professors are well qualified and will guide you as long as your are interested in learning and willing to take criticism. some subjects can be tough and are like that. if you fail a subject and make up exam is condected where you need to score 20/100 to pass (you wont get good grade if u have make up)
