Placement Experience:

Placements at NITK Surathkal are very good overall, and the EEE department consistently sees a high percentage of students getting placed-85% to 90%+ However the placement profiles and salaries vary a lot depending on whether you go core electrical jobs , software/IT jobs we students become eligible for placements from the 6th semester companies start arriving fro pre placement talks and tests ,some students also get PPOs done in the 3rd year summer internshis companies visiting nitk for eee students are: TEXAS INSTRUMENTS SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC SIEMENS ABB L&T TATA POWER BOSCH. My personal plans after getting degree is either get placed in a good company then later prepare for civils services examination.

Placements here are good. From 2019-2023 there was almost 99% placement in IT department and in 2024 about 91% students were placed in IT department. Highest salary varies from 55-62 LPA, average about 24 LPA and median about 21 LPA. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Oracle, Morgan Stanley, Dell etc. are major recruiters. Most of roles offered are developer. Around 30-40% students get interships.

campus is vast, lush,green, climate is hot. There is bus service, infrastructure is good and a new lecture hall is almost completed. college provides opportunities for placement and internships.

there is the CDC (career development centre) that handles placements. they invite companies for recruitment. notable companies are Google, Uber, Nvidia, Texas insturments, Bosch, goldman sachs, oracle. most companies take 1-10 people based on their needs. there are usually 2 rounds (skill based test and HR interviews). around 90% of Cs students get placed. Texas instruments gives a CTC of 38 lakhs(can vary based on roll and year). I am trying to get placements and land a role in an electronics company such as Nvidia , Texas, ARM, Qualcomm . having a good CGPA is very helpful, there is the student build college site (IRIS) which provides guides and reviews from seniors about each companies and their exams, how they prepared for it etc. placement season is a hectic time where u r tensed till u get a company. Due to the current economic and political situation of the world the placements have been affected.

As I am still in 1st year I dont know all the details regarding placements . From seniors and from google i got to know that the placement is very good and year by year more number of companies are coming to campus. I think from 7th semester we will be eligible for campus placements. Percentage of students getting palced is more than 90 (some department close to 90) as the rest students may purse higher studies.

CSE : The placements for the CSE branch are the best in NIT Warangal as well as Trichy and Surathkal. Students are placed in huge software giants like Microsoft, D.E.Shaw, Adobe, Directi, Tower Research Capital, Cisco, IBM, and some Investment Bankers like Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley, etc The average package of CSE recorded this year was INR 30.8 LPA for BTech while INR 30.43 LPA for MTech.
ECE - The companies coming on the first day of placements are Qualcomm, Broadcom, Nvidia, SanDisk India, Redpine Signals, Samsung, and Caterpillar, etc., Software companies like Cisco, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Oracle, etc allow ECE students to sit for placements. The average package for BTech students is INR 23.6 LPA and for MTech students is around NR 20.4 LPA.
EEE - Companies like Alstom, Reliance, and PSUs like Power Grid, IOCL, HPCL, etc., offer core profiles to EEE students. I would like to highlight a few points in favor of choosing IT at NIT Surathkal-

IT and CSE have more or less the same curriculum.
NITK offers excellent placements. This is especially true for circuital branches- CSE, IT, ECE and EEE. Top students from these branches are offered placements at brands like Google and Microsoft.
NITK is a brand in itself. Since it is an NIT, it offers much more exposure and opportunities.
NITK admits JEE Mains toppers from all across the country. So it has a very rich crowd.
As a Bangalorean, you can frequently visit home from NITK.
As a hosteller at NITK, you’ll learn important life skills.

Thus, based on these factors, I would recommend you choose IT at NIT Surathkal over CS at RVCE Bangalore.

Both the colleges mentioned above are one of the oldest yet one of the most reputed NIT in the country, as far as placements are concerned it is very difficult to say which one is better as both the institutes provide almost the same placement opportunities.

Placements for MNNIT Allahabad: It has an incredible alumni network, and some top reputed companies visit the campus every year.

BHEL, Indogulf Fertilizers, Gati Infrastructures, Acolyte Hindalco, Ericsson India Global Services, Eaton, Direct, DIT, Deloitte, Dell, Indian Navy, Capgemini, Canon, Brahmos, BPCL, Bharat Institute of Technology, etc are the regular participants in the placements here.

There are no specific placements for CSE as it's just one of the many branches of engineering. Most companies like Oracle and Fidelity allow students of all branches to sit for placements while some big companies like Microsoft only allow B.Tech CSE ECE EEE, and M.Tech CSE students who have qualified for the CGPA cutoff 7. Every company has its own CGPA criteria and to stay on the safe side and be eligible for the maximum companies try to score 7+. So if you fulfill the criteria, you can apply for any company irrespective of the branch you are from. For shortlisting, CS companies conduct online coding tests after which you are selected for the interview. So no matter which branch you belong to, you have to be proficient in coding.

In short, if you want to get selected for CSE placement,

Maintain a CGPA of more than 8, every semester
Actively participate in competitive programming right from the first year.

Two of my close friends are studying at NIT Surathkal and MNNIT Allahabad respectively and often I hear them comparing their colleges based on some aspects.

Environment: Both NITs have a well-maintained and lush green campus. NIT Surathkal has a slight advantage because of its private beach. So, if you love beaches and swimming NIT Surathkal is for you. NIT Allahabad offers scenic views at Sangam and students enjoy taking holy baths and spending evenings there.
Faculty: MNNIT Allahabad are very friendly and often use their native language during lectures while NIT Surathkla professors are a nit professional and never use their native language in the classroom.
Placements : The average package of IT at NIT Suratkal is INR 23.03 LPA while that of CSE at MNNIT is INR 27.07 LPA. MNNIT Allahabad has slightly better placements although NIT Surathkal has a better location.
Food: It may be difficult to get non-veg food in Allahabad within the hostel premises. In NIT-S, there is no such restriction and a variety of non-veg food is offered.
