National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), formerly known as Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC), is a public technical university in Surathkal, Mangaluru. It was founded as KREC in 1960 and is now one of India's 31 National Institutes of Technology, as well as a Government of India-designated Institute of National Importance. Our college has its own private beach ..
Sports facilities are excellent , we have huge swimming pool
Faculties are highly qualified and humble

Internships Opportunities:

College will provide internship opportunities from 2 year onwards, most of the companies are tech related. College will provide fund and mentor ship for startups, and they provide job opportunities in the case startup fails

NITK - A truthful review

Likes

The facilities available in the college for learning , research and building things is very huge
International level swimming pool is available with proper instructors
All the professors are great experts in their feilds

Dislikes

The library timing is not 24x7 which bring difficulties for students
The campus is so huge that you definitely need a cycle
The food from the food court aren't so delicious

Internships Opportunities:

In 3rd and 4th semester , companies come to college for internship opportunities. There are online and offline internship which depends on the company . Intership opportuinity is available for all the braches and for all the major roles. Roles like Game dev , desigining etc are also there. Companies like Google , Damier , Oracle , Cadbury , etc come with internship oppurtunities

Nit surathkal college life

Likes

The internet and wifi facility is very good
Gym facility is absolutely good and sports
Classrooms are very clean and they provide socket to each bench

Dislikes

Mess food is not as expected. But it's ok
Anywhere u see there are couples each corner
Timings and stress of academics with credit

Placement Experience:

Placement in terms of computer science and technology (cs) is very good with highest package of 50 lakhs per annum and avg package of 28Lpa but in other branch the avg package lies between 12-15 lakhs per annum

LIFE AT NITK

Likes

Our college has a private beach and a light house
We have good sports opportunities to learn and improve strength along leaderships qualities
Our college has the best equipment academically and lap requirements with very good classes

Dislikes

Our hostels have a common washroom and only 1 western toilet

Internships Opportunities:

as i'm a first year student i still no nothing about the internships details but i will be excited to share my experience once i get into. Bru what i had from our seniors was that companies like texas instruments, siemens, give a stipend of 30000Rs on an average for 3 months internship.

Review of a first year student at NIT suratkal

Likes

There is a wonderful beach and also a light house.
There are so many trees over here so that fresh air is available
The food that provided in the mess is also hygienic.

Dislikes

At night while walking on the Roads there is a fear of some snakes
It rains every time here like 8 months in a year.
Up to now these are the things that I observed.

Placement Experience:

I guess there are very good placements at nit suratkal. Many multinational companies will also visit our campus for selections.for the placements many companies will see that one should have minimum of 7 to 7.5 cgpa

Great campus life with good placement and private beach, a place like heaven for engineering

Likes

Private beach, Swimming pool, Green lush campus, great infrastructure.
Faculties are highly qualified and well-experienced staff.
Good campus life and campus placements with good peer group.

Dislikes

Water shortage problem in summer days also it's too humid then.
Block timings for 1st year students is too early
Frequent accidents near the campus takes place.

Internships Opportunities:

Internships can be done from 3rd year (5th sem) as far i know. But we can apply for internships previous to that also but it will be off-campus. By college we get internship oppertunities in 3rd year. Most of the students get internships. There are also PPO (pre-placement offers).

Fatigue behaviour of austempered ductile iron

The infrastructure I liked about my college
The labs facility that they are providing
The central library where we have access to many book

Dislikes

Healthcare facility which I think needs improvement
Hostel mess food which I dislike about that that should be improved
Water problem proper maintenance is not there which I think needs improvement

Internships Opportunities:

I have done my internship in vishakapatnam steel plant which I got from my college there is no stipend I got in my internship.My projects in on fatigue behaviour of austempered ductile iron the outcome of my project is how austempering temperature influence the behaviour of ductile iron and how the fatigue strength changes

nitk- a college you can go for

Likes

campus is vast, lush,green, climate is hot. There is bus service, infrastructure is good and a new lecture hall is almost completed. college provides opportunities for placement and internships.
there is a decently equipped gym, proper tennis court, swimming pool which has been opened recently, football ground (not turf) u can also play cricket, there is volleyball area and 2 basketball court. an indoor badminton court is also there
there is ample options for snacks, night canteens, cafeteria. they are at resonable rates.hostels are good. a new hostel building has been built which provides hot water for bath as well as better funitures for students

Dislikes

departments such as Information Technology, lack proper professors. There is a nice canteen called Fodd court and it is veg (if it was non veg it wouldve been good)
since there is a large number of students some places can be very crowded. we have faced water issues (beggining of the year usually) as well as power cuts . they are not very frequent but affect life
boys- girl ratio is poor (10:2 imo). students are way too competitive.

Water shortage problem in summer days (so humid)
Block timings for 1st year students ( in 1st sem it was upto only 7pm and now in 2nd sem it was upto 9pm but made upto 11pm after requesting)
