National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), formerly known as Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC), is a public technical university in Surathkal, Mangaluru. It was founded as KREC in 1960 and is now one of India's 31 National Institutes of Technology, as well as a Government of India-designated Institute of National Importance. Likes

The Events organised in the campus either cultural or technical.
The ratio of the boys to girls like 4:1 and out of 8800 students nearly about 1600 girls are there...

Dislikes

The syllabus is not tough but lengthy, the classes and works aur too hectic here you will able to get enough to explore new things, see new domains work on your interests...
Very small semesters are there nearly about 4 months odd sem and 25 days vacation after it in even sem it is even shorter than the odd one just of 3-3.5 months and rest are holidays nearly about 3.5 months vacation.. Such irregularity in conduction

Internships Opportunities:

I am in the second year don't know much about the internships but definitely I have seen many seniors and talked with about teh different fields related internships eithe the work experience oriented or the research field oriented...

Everything about NIT-K Surathkal

I liked the exposure here as it is one of the best colleges of our country, great brains, great ideas
I also liked the greenery here as there are trees everywhere well maintained.

Disliked the discrimination here for northies although its very less.
Disliked the management in some instances

(NIT) Surathkal offers a variety of internship opportunities, including summer internships, research internships, and funded internships. Summer internships are open to students in their final or pre-final year of a B.E./B. Tech in Mechanical or a related field. Applicants must have a minimum aggregate score of 60% (6.5/10 CGPA). Rs 5000 stipend will be provided after the successful completion of the program. (B.E./B. Tech) in a relevant discipline from any institute in India with the following criteria: ? CGPA > 7.0 for IITs/ NITs/ IISERs/ NISER/IIEST/IIITs.

Nitk review

Campus is very green,we also have a beach which is nice
There are many shops where you can get your necessities

The weather is very hot and very humid .
Girls to boys ratio is arounf 1:4 for all courses

There are companies that come to campus for internships so many students are able to identify internships there. There is a portal called gyaan on our student portal that provides complete details as to who was placed where and how to prepare

Nitk in a nutshell

Campus facilities is very good and nicely maintained and they are coming up with more development in each structure.
The sports complex is the best part as it is very well made.

The 75% attendance rule is very strict over here.
Some of the profs that you get don’t really know what they are teaching .

I'm not sure of the internship process since I'm only a second year student. The whole process starts in third year. You need to pass the companies exams and interview to get an internship on campus or you could apply for one off campus as well. Most of the companies that come for on campus internships don't provide stipend as they want dedicated students who they can teach and build.

NITK review

Overall it is completely fine.Clg has good infrastructure,good climate.
Good placements, Decent mess,All the fests and events in college.

Schedule sometimes.And politics during student elections,groupism.

Internships recruitment happens during 3rd year.Hiring varies from company to company.Few consider CGPA and few donot consider CGPA.They conduct exam and shortlist and followed by interview.companies like Goldman Sachs, samsung and many other companies recruit interns and may also offer PPO's too.

The clubs here are good enough to conduct many good events almost every week, and infrastructure here is also good which they are more developing now. Academics wise this college is pretty decent, to learn things and all, labs here are best.
The girls to boys ratio is like below than average only, coming to my class, that ratio is like 1:5, out of which almost all the girls are already committed,

The people family who have annual income more than 8 had to pay loads of fees for everything, that is much more burden, and makes no sense in not giving scholarship to them, so that systen is to be changed
Because my college nitk is on beach, we only have 2 seasons here, either rainy or summer, in both seasons its full of humidity, early morning here itll be like 70% humidity, here it sweats alot.

Almost all the big companies offer internships in my college, with pretty good stipend. You can actually go onsite and work with those companies or you can go to other universities and work there and you can get good experience.

Overall review on nitk

All sort of clubs like from sports to tech clubs are offered
Cultural fests and celebrating all kinds of festival without any religious dispute

Introverted people will have to face issues becauss a lot of talented people are present
Tough to find like minded people and socialising is important and making connection with good seniors is also important

There are a lot of internship programs for all the btech years there are group chat that forwards all these internship program and also the cr posts in his class group there are 2 major and minor projects offeredand the learning certificate will also be provided

NITK : A student's Perspective on Education, Campus life and Beyond

First thing I would like to address is beach . NIT K have its own private beach .where you can rejuvenate yourself if u are looking for peace wit the hectic day.
Seondly , I would like to address on the Placements .NITK have diverse placeement scenario in various domains such as in core and Tech roles

Things I dislike is weather. Since there is a beach over here ,You can expect high humidity with respect to your home towns and residence

In 5th sem Internship hunt begins , There are many reputed companies start recruiting from 5th sem till 6th sem . I want tto highlight few companies which provides a stiphen in between 90K- 1 lac are Texas ,microsoft ,oracle , Uber,Adobe, google, Goldman Sachs , Deshaw and there are around 20-30 companies which provide an avg stiphen about 60 K. Considering Chemical only few companies recruit during internship such as Exxon Mobill, Kongsverg digital and RIL. Which provide an average stiphen around 25k Even , bychance If you wont get an internship .you can loook for a researh internship under NITK Profs or u can cold Mail Tier -1 College profs. where u can gain expereince and learn somethiung .Which might be useful for placements.

A rollercoaster called college life

Infrastructure since the campus is over 300 acres.
The people who get admitted here are mostly very knowledgeable so the company we have is good.

Since it is a government college the hostel rooms arent that of a good standard.
The weather in this side of the state is hard to get used to considering extreme heat and rain

Intership opportunities are given at the end of the second year itself. Projects of every field is available ranging from IT to core. I would not have much idea of it since i am still in my second year

All about NITK suratkal

The campus and teaching facilities are extravagant, with various high tech labs and a huge campus including a beach
The social life here is very fun with diverse festivals and celebration to biggest fests and many clubs

There are water shortages during the summers
Very competitive with the marks and grading

Many companies such as Google, flipcart , tata Internships are available from the third year onwards . The internship can be either 3 months or even 6 if the companies like your work . Avg stipends are from 15-30 k per month .
