The food that provided in the mess is also hygienic.

Hostel Facilities:

There can be 2 sharing and 3 sharing rooms for the 1st year as well as 2nd year students. But from 3rd year the hostels will be changed to megatowers where you can choose even 1 sharing rooms. Washing machines also available from 3rd year

Great campus life with good placement and private beach, a place like heaven for engineering

For 1st year students 2 hostel are triple sharing and one is double sharing. In each hostel we have 1 studing table, one cabinet to keep books and other stuffs and one almare for each student and one common shoe rack per room. Mess food is moderate, the quality is sometimes low(does happen everytime) but we got so much variety of food available. For registration process for hostel and mess we can do it on reporting day itself.

nitk- a college you can go for

there is ample options for snacks, night canteens, cafeteria. they are at resonable rates.hostels are good. a new hostel building has been built which provides hot water for bath as well as better funitures for students

Dislikes

since there is a large number of students some places can be very crowded. we have faced water issues (beggining of the year usually) as well as power cuts . they are not very frequent but affect life
departments such as Information Technology, lack proper professors. There is a nice canteen called Fodd court and it is veg (if it was non veg it wouldve been good)

hostel registration is done online. from third year you have single rooms (1 cupbaord, 1 table, 1 chair, 1 fan, 1 bed). hostel food is decent. CHoose mega mess when u can because it is a big mess that provides good food, and no suffocation as it is big. only drawback is it is vegetariand (have chicken from night canteen). Non veg messes provided chicken 2 times a week and chicken biryani (mid) on sunday. there is water filter provided at each floor of the hostel

Block timings for 1st year students ( in 1st sem it was upto only 7pm and now in 2nd sem it was upto 9pm but made upto 11pm after requesting)

This is the 1st time hostel experience for me and it is really good (for which i excpected). For 1st year students 2 hostel are triple sharing and one is double sharing. The hostel facility is great and the warden is very approachable.He is available anytime and solves any problem within 1day. The first year hostels are of 3blocks in which you get nonveg in 2 blocks and pure veg in other one. First year students get threesharing accommodation.

Hostel food can be improved and include north indian.
Water scarcity sometime we have to face in april month
Block timing is strict for first year students

There is double sharing room from third year onward and fourth year.We are given single accommodation loan in Megha.Towhouse, which is basically 6 floor buildings.Uh , with lift and proper ventilation , proper wi-fi and lane and twenty four hours electricity

Some more improvement needed in the mess .
As I my hostle there is cycle stand and all hostel have cycle stand .

As room have 2 fans,2 tubelight and one cabord and one table and one chair one lan cable and one luggage locker . Meal is good all have good quality except chapati and other things are very good As in mess we have to submit mess card for meal Arawali block 2 near Nescafe beside karavali hostel

The things I disliked the most was the administration is way too slow in doing works , like the LAN internet keeps going down and nobody does anything about it , there are no washing machines available for us and the laundry services are quite expens

The hostel facility is quite affordable as compared the the outside rented places , we literally pay 7k for entire semesters stay and it includes electricity water etc. the room as 2-3 switch boards , light , fan and basic furniture including bed , study table chair , cupboard. I first two years there are shared rooms whereas in the next two years you get a single room.The mess food is just like any other mess , hygiene is maintained but the taste is good only for the first few weeks of semester start , after that we wonder whether the food taste started deteriorated or we got fed up of same taste , one more thing to notice is that this is a costal area and w thought surely they will offer fish in the mess but surprisingly it turns out that they never do. The registration process of hostel rooms are on first come first serve basis and best thing about this is it happens on our own students built app called IRIS portal web and app both , where we register mess and hostel room smoothly, no standing in queues anymore. Fees payment is also available on IRiS portal.mostly all the students stay at the hostel provided by college only , nobody apart from students who have there home nearby are dayscholars , so this is the case. Apparently u may get a pg nearby but as it's near to the beach and sea , so it won't be affordable.

Avg student experience at NITk

For 1st semester our block timing is only 7pm means after 7pm u can't go outside we know that it is for our safety but it could be increased to 9pm atleast which is done in 2nd sem so I have to suffer with this in 1st sem...
If u are belong to north like up, Bihar, delhi etc then u have to face some problems in food obviously not always but yeah in starting u may have to adjusting these because u don't use idli,dosa as ur breakfast usually...

Inside room for 1st yr student two types of hostels are there one is triple sharing other is double sharing. :- Aravali,Karavali , Vindhya is triple sharing and sahyadri is double sharing. And all room has bed made of iron and steel and table for all person almirah set into wall with lock system for all students and wire wi-fi connection for laptop and wireless for phones and there is book shalf also for all students and two steel pipe set into wall for drying the clothes are there. Two tubelights are there and two fans are their and infront of every table and chair one charging cable is there. And one shoes shalf is there . Meal quality is good not too expensive neither too wierd u can eat for living there is two types of mess one is vegitarian other is non-vegetarian. Non-vegetarian mess have chicken in three nights and egg in two nights and vegetables one night and daal,chaval , dahi, rasam , sambhar, chapati (two types - one fried,other normal) is also there at night.. And yeah at the last of the month we have a grand dinner in which three types of chicken is provided,pulaw ,and lachha paratha ,is there and one sweet and one icecream and one fruit (apple) is there.we all waited for grand dinner in very exciting way... And we have dosa , idli ,rasam , bread milk and tea , butter, boiled moong, etc in breakfast in which bread,milk,tea butter is compulsory and other is vary with day by day .. Regitration for hostel is done at reporting time they give us option that u are vegetarian or non vegetarian then alloted mess and hostel to us no money transfer process are occurring at the time of reporting all are already done by institute before reporting if u didn't done the u may get issue in allotment of mess or hostel.. I didn't have more idea about room or pg outside but around college there is no such a houses are there which proving room may be you have to going 4 to 5 km away from college or 20 km away in Mangalore which may cause time killing and money wastealso

Food taste is not that good in taste even my professors agrees with that but its fresh for sure.

Hostel facility is really good.Proper cleanliness is done.you will proper supply of water. bathroom and washroom are kept clean.you can get here hot,cold or normal water whichever you want to drink. rooms are really every person is provided a bes,table,chair ,hanger and an almirah. meal taste is not good but quality is really well it is really fresh .once in month there will be grand dinner is taken place where you get 3 types of chicken dish ,icecream,paratha,paneer,samosa,frooti and a sweet dish and biryani also. registration process for hostel is done online and it is affordable for students its not that much.
