Course Curriculum Overview
The course here is mostly same as in all other btech colleges. There's a chemistry and physics cycle. For core branches, sem-1 consists of physics cycle and for tech related branches, comprises of chemistry cycle in the first year. They teach python language for core branches and c language for tech branches, in the chemistry cycles only. There's a subject called PSC which includes programming based on your subject which is good for real life based problems related to your branch. The frequency of timing of exams is decent and level of difficulty is also manageable. More of a logical side.

Placement Experience
From semester 5, the students are eligible for internships, interviews for which are being taken in the campus only. If a student wants, he can apply for off campus internships too before semester 5 but he must be aware of the 75% attendance policy strictness here. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Infosys, etc come for placement and roughly 6-7 cgpa is the minimum criteria for sitting in placement interviews. Students from core branches can give interviews for tech companies too. Highest package is roughly ?55 lakhs and average is nearly ?18 lakhs in on-campus placements. And roughly 88% students get placed every year. I don't have much plans after getting the degree, either job or any business.

Campus Life
The annual fest of NITK is the "incident" which is one of the biggest fest in south india. Usually conducted in march every year. The tech fest of NITK is "engineer" and it is conducted in October every year. There's a central library where books of a lot of varieties are provided and we can issue upto 4 books at a time for nearly a month. A lot of facilities for sports, a big ground for cricket and football, 2 courts for badminton, and for almost every sport there's a facility provided. Many clubs like music, dance, entrepreneurship etc are there and selection process for each are conducted.
Hostel Facilities
For first year, room is triple sharing, with 3 beds, 3 shelves, 2 fans, 3 wardrobe, 3 study tables, 3 lan ports. Meal quality and taste is decent and cleanliness is maintained . Registration process for hostel happens during the time of physical reporting and requires the documents stated in the brochure.
Admission
I applied for nit trichy, nit Warangal, nit Rourkela, mnnit allahabad. All these colleges have their admission process through JoSAA so I got this college only and because of my preference order. I preferred this college because of a comparatively better study exposure in south india. And also it is one of the top engineering colleges in india. I wanted better exposure, better people who can help me grow in various fields. I did get rejection from government colleges like iits and nits because my rank wasn't enough to be selected in the streams which i opted for in those colleges.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio at NIT-K Surathkal is about 1:60 for theory classes and nearly 1:10 for practical classes . NITK Surathkal offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Engineering, Science, and Management. The institute has 14 departments and 11 support centers As I'm new here, i don't have very hard feelings or connection for any professor so I can't say if i like or dislike anyone But the professors here are most likely same as elsewhere. In one semester, there is one-two quiz, one midsem and end sem exam for each subject. Marking scheme varies for quiz. Midsem is of 50 Marks, and end-sem of 100 marks. And mostly based on course related books only.
