Course Curriculum Overview

4

The Data Science curriculum at RNSIT in the first year provides a strong foundation in core engineering subjects along with basic programming. Subjects like Mathematics, Physics, and Programming help in building analytical and problem-solving skills required for Data Science. The lab sessions support practical understanding. The curriculum prepares students for advanced topics in later years, but more exposure to real-world projects and data analysis tools in the first year would be helpful. Exams are conducted through internal assessments and semester exams, and the difficulty level is moderate. Overall, the course is relevant and fairly comprehensive, with scope for more industry-oriented learning.

Internships Opportunities

4

There are internship opportunities in our college but I have very less info about it as I am 1 year student. I have seen my seniors do internships and amazing projects that are really impressive. Few of them have aslo gone to national level and to other states in India to participate in events. For meritorious Students and their good project college itself sponsers evrything.

Placement Experience

3

Placements at RNSIT are decent and consistent, especially for CS-related branches. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester. The placement cell conducts training programs including aptitude tests, coding practice, mock interviews, and soft skills sessions to prepare students. Many reputed companies such as TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, and some product-based companies visit the campus. The highest package in recent years has gone above 20 LPA (mostly for CS/IT related roles), while the average package ranges between 4–6 LPA depending on the branch. Most offers are for roles like Software Developer, System Engineer, Analyst, and Associate Engineer.

Fees and Financial Aid

I got government seat in RNSIT (private college) through KCET entrance exam. So my fee structure every year ( 4 years ) will be Rs.1,12,415 as per CET norms. The college charged me extra Rs.15,000 as skill development fee when I went to admission. Later on I paid Rs.4,000 fee for uniform and few books (record and assignment books) . Then for my 1st semester exam I paid Rs.4,250. My management seat batchmates pay around 6 lakh every year and the student through COMEDK entrance exam pay a fee around 3 lakh every year. The exam fee, skill development fee, uniform and books fee remains same for all the students.

Campus Life

3

My overall experience with campus life at RNSIT has been good and engaging. The college conducts annual cultural and technical fests which are usually held once a year and create a vibrant atmosphere on campus. These fests include technical events, coding competitions, cultural performances, and sports activities, giving students opportunities to showcase their talents beyond academics. The library has a good collection of academic books, reference materials, and journals that are helpful for semester exams and projects. Classrooms are well maintained and equipped with projectors and basic technological facilities to support learning. Sports facilities are also available on campus, including outdoor games and indoor activities. The college encourages participation in extracurricular activities and various student clubs, which help in improving communication skills, teamwork, and leadership qualities. Overall, campus life is balanced with academics and activities.

Admission

I chose RNS Institute of Technology (RNSIT) through KCET counselling after comparing it with JSS and SJBIT. My decision was mainly based on placement records, faculty quality, infrastructure, and overall reputation in Bangalore. RNSIT has consistent placement performance in core branches and growing opportunities in emerging fields like Data Science. The campus infrastructure, labs, and technical environment felt better compared to some of the other options I had. I had also considered JSS and SJBIT, but based on previous years’ cutoffs and my CET rank, RNSIT was the best possible option I could secure in my preferred branch. The overall academic discipline and location were additional advantages.

Faculty

4

There are more than 300 faculties. The faculty student relationship is good and they are very much approachable. I liked Rakesh sir who took physics in 1st semester. He was also our class teacher. He tecahes really well and also a very good hearted person. I also liked Vaibhavi mam who takes math , she teaches really well. Also Dr Jeevananda ( chemistry HOD) is a very well experienced teacher who has lot of knowledge. He is very inspiring. Anu mathews mam she is also very good teacher when it comes to technical subject like python She thought it in vert practical way by showing us eacha and every error and Dr Bharath who handles CAED is also very good at teaching. These are the teachers I liked as of now ( 1st year). Nothing like I disliked any teacher but I was not okay with a mam who handled C programming, she used to rush out the ppt slides and waste time at the end of class, this happened every time of which I am not okay with. There will be 2 internal assessments per semester and one final exam per semester. The syllabus follows VTU guidelines and it's good.

Interview Experience

4

No interview or GD topic. I wrote KCET and got in to the college through KCET exam. I prepared for KCET based on my ranking I got into RNSIT. The admission process is KCET admission process type. After getting admission order from KEA ( Karnataka education authority) the college admits us.

Night Life

5

There are amazing cafes , restaurants , hotels and other shops near my college. I have no idea about hostel timings as I am a day scholar. Inside the campus famous hangout space is the gallery and near the auditorium as I have seen. Night life in campus js amazing the view of the little pond and the statue of our founder with the lights is so amazing to look at.

From your 7th semester you become eligible to get placed and it is mandatory to get internship before you get placed which the college helps you to get and around 400-500 companies visit, and a good amount of offers are made by them. The average package stands somewhere around 11LPA -12LPA and the highest goes to 50LPA-60LPA and the median stands around 9-10LPA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As I'm in 1st semester. I will update you after my exams. But one good thing is that from this year, internals and externals will hold same weightage i.e., 50/50 If you can score more than 45% in internals which wouldn't be that big of a deal because they'll ask most the questions from class notes. Most of the faculties are average I would say. But some are good professors too. I chose CSE because I find these topics interesting since junior school. And everyone is just jumping into cse is a reason too lol.
