- Students belonging to Open, EWS & OBC – NCL categories whose family income is between Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh per annum shall get full remission of 2/3rd of tuition fees (Rs 41667)

- Like the campus is of 300 acres, with playground and a personal beach of its own.
- Then the professors who are well learned.
Dislikes
- The food in every mess is below average, especially at nights.
- We need to share a small room with 3 students in first year then with 2 in second year
Fees and Financial Aid:
Like for the first sem it was 75000, including everything the tution fee and the mess fee which was about 32000 and hostel rent is about 10000 per sem and the total fees to be paid depends on the sem type like odd or the even sem. Also other fees like Development fee of 2320 is taken every sem, Career development fee of 1000 , Swimming pool fee and campus emitties 1000 rupees each.

- Here I like the campus, the buildings are good looking.
- The private beach belong to this college is like wow.
Dislikes
- The weather in this area is what I hate mostly.
- Friends are good but sometimes because of language barriers you will get neglected and miss some opportunities.
Fees and Financial Aid:
For 7th semester the fee structure is such that: hostel fees is Rs 34310 and semester fees is Rs 20360. And for 8th semester hostel fees is Rs 33790 and semester fees is Rs 6620. Now, for scholarship, you can apply in various scholarships like NSP, State scholarship, and non- government scholarship but you will get only one scholarship.

- There will be events for every week and it is very good
- There is a beach in our college which is nice to explore

- Infrastructure is not soo good as it is a old college
- The faculty staff are so strict and some are good

The total tution fees for 1 semester is 62500 For 1 year it will be 125000. There is admission fee, development fees , lab fees which might be around 10-15k There is fees waiver for students of SC ST and PWD category

- Infrastructure since the campus is over 300 acres.
- The people who get admitted here are mostly very knowledgeable so the company we have is good.
Dislikes
- Since it is a government college the hostel rooms arent that of a good standard.
- The weather in this side of the state is hard to get used to considering extreme heat and rain

Since it is a government college the tuition fee for the first year is a total of 1.4 lakhs. After this each semester fees is dependent on the course opted. For a mechanical degree every odd sem is nearly 70000 while an even semester fee is 80000.

- The campus and teaching facilities are extravagant, with various high tech labs and a huge campus including a beach
- The social life here is very fun with diverse festivals and celebration to biggest fests and many clubs

- There are water shortages during the summers

The fee structure for a general student is about 1 lakh per semester, the fees depend as per the qouta seat you get in through . Dasa student have to pay about 4 times the fees where as sc,st students don't have to pay any fees . Scholarship are available for people based on merit as well as back ground

And yes there will be lot of scholarships and financial provided by the govt. which any student can avail.

The fee structure at NITK is 2lac. Scholarships like the National Scholarship Portal and government-funded schemes are available. Campus employment opportunities include roles like teaching assistants and research assistants, offering stipends. Scholrships are also given to students coming from economically weaker sections. - Some of the professors are quite helpful and nice and I found their classes quite good
- The festivals and events are plenty and fun. I had a lot of fun during Incident.
Dislikes
- I do not like the method of teaching with power point presentations
- I did not like the hostels. They have no arrangements for pest control and the heat.

Tution fees is roughly around 1 lakh per annum. But it is reduced by 1/3rd for me since I have EWS quota which I fully paid through education loan. Mess charges are around 30000 per semester. I am not aware about any other financial aids. I have not undertaken any campus employments.

External scholarships are supported and encouraged. There is no NITK scholarship for students. Reserved category students recieve benefits in fees and concessions in tuition fees. All fees change every semester. Almost all student related activities are run by students. The student council is responsible for all problems in student welfare in college.

How's NIT Surathkal for mechanical?
The mechanical department at NIT Surathkal is hands down the best among most of the NITS and some of the new IITs as well. Given below is some of the information regarding the Mechanical department in NIT Surathkal.
Pros:
- You also find some of the extremely competitive and hard-working peer groups in the college.
- There are also some of the Tech Clubs like NITK Racing Team. The teams are really good for the Mechanical students if they want to develop more skills. This team has also been credited for building one of India’s lightest FS cars. NITK Racing Team has been considered to be the Best Asian team in FS Hungary and it was also the only team that participated in FS China representing India.
Cons:
According to few reviews, the syllabus of Mechanical Engineering is at NIT Surathkal is outdated. However, it is the same with most of the institutes.
You should read more about the college and its curriculum before coming to any conclusion.
Which is better, NIT Surathkal for mechanical or IIEST Shibpur for CSE?
Both NIT Surathkal and IIEST Shibpur are amazing institutes and the departments of the mentioned branches are at their best. The deciding factor here is your branch of interest.
- If you are inclined towards Mechanical Engineering, you must opt for NITK. If you are more into coding IIEST must be your choice.
- Another factor to look for if you are not that specific about the branch to study is the institute's proximity to your home.
- The one which is easily accessible must be preferably your choice.
