Admission to the Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] in Biosciences and Bioengineering at IIT Guwahati is primarily through the JEE Advanced examination, following qualification in JEE Mains. JEE Mains is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), and students must achieve a specific cutoff to be eligible for JEE Advanced, managed by a leading IIT annually. The JEE Advanced exam, known for its difficulty, involves subject-wise and total cutoffs, with the final admission based on rank and choice in JoSAA counseling.

Reservation benefits are available, including quotas for OBC, SC, ST, EWS, and female candidates, with up to 20% seats reserved for females and varying cutoffs based on category. Eligibility criteria include securing a minimum of 75% in the 12th board exams or being in the top 20 percentile, though relaxation exists for reserved categories with board percentages as low as 65%.
